My heart stuttered but I lifted my chin and planned to walk past them Felicity grabbed my arm before I could pass. I turned right as disgust clouded Avalon’s expression.
“Why are you stopping her? Let the bitch go.” She yanked Felicity’s hand off mine.
Calm down, Sia. They can’t hurt you anymore. You’re no longer in a place where they can put their hands on you without facing the consequences.
The little mantra I repeated in my head worked but not completely. I had faced this same situation a hundred and one times. Throw in their other friend, Viviane, and it would be a clique of my bullies.
They can’t make your life a living hell anymore.
“Don’t ever put your hands on me again.” I said to Felicity. She had an apologetic expression on her face but I knew her too well to fall for her tricks.
At one point in my life, Felicity had come to me and tried to befriend me. She badmouthed Avalon and Kadé, telling me how much she hated them but was forced to endure their presence because of their status. It was foolish of me to believe her but she was good at acting and I was desperate for a friend and naive enough to believe the wolves of Silver Moon would accept me one day.
In the end, it turned out to be a sadistic ploy to give me hope and then snatch it in the cruellest way. It was a joke that made them laugh, bending over and slapping their knees as I realized Felicity was pure evil.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ine.
“I am sorry. I wanted to say hi but it looked like you would pass without stopping so I grabbed you.” She hung her head. It was a pose I was all too familiar with, one that I used all the time to make people see I was harmless.
“For as long as you’re in this pack, I am your Luna. It’s left to me to accept your greeting or not so you shouldn’t grab me like that.” It took all of my willpower to force those words out of my mouth.
I hated to admit it but I was still scared of these girls. Although I may have become the Luna of a powerful pack and a wolf under the protection of Alpha Cahir Armani who would first die before letting any harm to his people slide, it didn’t mean all the years of being abused by these people had been erased.
“Look at her acting all high and mighty,” Avalon sneered. “Just you wait. This glorified position won’t last a year!” She snarled. It was a subtle movement but I saw Felicity pinch her arm. Avalon turned to the other girl with rage still wafting off her and then she turned back to me with a wilting glare and stormed away.
“I am truly sorry.” I watched Avalon storm away, marvelling at how strong her pride was when Felicity’s voice made me face her. “Avalon is a proud person but I will get her to come around.”
“Why?” I asked the question bothering me since the first time I saw her on Alpha Blood land.
“Pardon?” She asked and I repeated my one–worded question. “Oh, Avalon is – I know she causes trouble for you and I’m trying to get her on your good side.”
“Why do you think I want her on my good side?” It was ridiculous
to think that at this point in my life,

“It’s because I owe you a debt,” Felicity responded with shrug. Her voice dropped low and she bowed her head.
Bowing to another wolf, whether unknowingly or knowingly, was not a trivial gesture. It was a sign of deference, something I never expected to get from Felicity,
“If you owe me a debt, shouldn’t you ask how I want it paid?” I asked, curious.
When I dressed up to come to the pack house, my plant had been to meet with my mate and drag him home. I failed at that and ended up running into people I would rather never see again.
“I’ve thought of that but when I tried to approach you, you shunned me so I felt that if I did little good things for you, you would believe I am sincere in being your friend this time, she confessed, her cheeks reddening.
If this was all an act, then Felicity deserved an award for her tricks. She did look sincere but fortunately, I wasn’t a fool.
“I figured that if I could get Avalon on your side, you’d appreciate it.”
“Really?” I asked and she nodded. “What use do you think Avalon would be to me?”
It was presumptuous of her and it showed how much she valued Avalon, thinking of her as someone t would need in my life. Did she think if Avalon became nice to me, I would be grateful to her? No, nothing connected me with Silver Moon anymore. Even if Avalon hated me, I was no longer in a place where she could stretch out her arms to hit me.
“I don’t know.” Felicity deflated. “But she is a headstrong person good enough to have on your side.”
“I need neither you nor Avalon on my side.” Cahir was enough. My wolf preened at that thought. “What’s your motive for doing all this? Don’t tell me you suddenly felt remorse and now want to atone for your sins.” Of course, I knew everything was a scheme. Felicity had a card up her sleeve. I just had to find out what card.
“I’ve seen the way Kade behaved after – after you left. It hurts me knowing that I contributed to his grief by bullying you. I feel maybe if I hadn’t done all those bad things to you –” She trailed off, bowing her head again. It was a pitiful sight but I knew she orchestrated everything to make herself look pitiful. Felicity was one of the proudest people I ever met and for her to bow her head without restraint like this, I knew whatever she had planned was big.
“You’re joking.” I smiled a bitter smile. “I hate your brother with every fibre of my being. Whatever guilt you have, it should stem from how you treated me. It should not be about your brother!” I snapped, feeling my wolf pace.
“I am – Whatever words were about to drop from her lips were drowned by a bone–chilling, electrifying scream. My eyes widened and my heart fluttered.
With my heart in my throat, I turned. I heard the scream again and it made my heart clench. Whatever it is whatever it was that was happening, it made me cold to my bones.
I vaguely recognized Felicity running alongside me as I followed the sounds of the terrifying screams.
“What I halted when I saw people coming out of their rooms. Cahir’s office was on the top floor of the central pack house, a floor designated for the Beta and Alpha.

“Sebastian?” My eyes fell open in wonder. The big man who had been my guard lay on the floor writhing in pain and my mate stood above him.
At the sound of my voice, Cabir turned and the look in his eyes made me take two steps back. His eyes were his clear dark ones but maybe because I had seen what other colour they could be, maybe because [ felt the rage and murderous intent walling off him, but my heart fell. My feet urged me to run and my wolf whimpered.
“Cahir – What?” I swallowed down the anxiety eating at me. “What is happening?”
“You’re still here?” His words were cold and blank, the air around him still. People were inching away from the scene as fast as they had rum to look. “Go home, Silana. He turned to the two men jabbing at Sebastian
“Take him back to the dungeons,” he instructed and I swallowed.
When they lifted Sebastian, I swallowed. Blood coated the ground he had been laying on and when they pulled him up, he was as limp and lifeless as a sack of potatoes.
“Sihana,” Cahir called me as I stood frozen. “Go home. I shook Sebastian
