Chapter 8
Seeing this, Jackson’s face darkened as well.
“Don’t push too far. Elaine means well. She even brought flowers and toys.”
I snatched the bag from Elaine’s hands and tossed it aside.
“Mona is allergic to pollen! And she hasn’t played with toys for a long time–she only wanted to hear you tell her stories!”
At the mention of Mona, tears streamed uncontrollably down my face, falling heavily to the ground.
“Jackson, while you were playing with her son, your own daughter was fighting for her life. While you were telling her son stories, your own daughter died because of her.
How can I not hate you both? I am Mona’s mother!”
“Do you know what Mona’s last wish was? She just wanted to hear you tell her a story! But what were you doing?”
I shouted in anguish, and both of them, guilty, avoided my gaze. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
“Larissa, I understand how you feel, but you’re pregnant. You’ve already lost one child; you can’t afford to lose another.”
Elaine, with her fake concerned expression, made me sick.
I snapped and shoved her hard, but she pushed me back, sending me tumbling down the steps. Jackson reached out, seemingly to catch me, but instead gave me an extra shove.
I collapsed into a pool of blood.
Through the searing pain, I thought I saw Mona and a sweet little boy.
I sat with them, sharing lollipops, telling stories, and playing hide–and–seek in the garden.
Mona’s eyes sparkled like stars when she looked at me.
“Mommy, my brother and I will always be with you. Please take care of yourself!”
I reached out to hold Mona’s hand, but there was nothing there.
“Mona! Mona, let Mommy see you again!”
“Mona, don’t leave me, please… I miss you so much…”
