Chapter 18 Blood Roses
I saw a vast lawn, and the morning dew still clung to the grass blades.
In the shimmering mist, Jamie walked towards me, his eyes tender, and a charming smile adorned his handsome face.
Approaching me, he took my hand and turned towards another side.
There, countless rose petals danced in the air, a blood-like red, staining the entire sky.
I opened my eyes and saw a nurse.
I realized I was on a hospital bed, with an IV tube attached to my arm.
A nurse in white stood in front of me, looking at me with concern.
“Where’s Jamie?” I tried to sit up but collapsed back onto the bed.
“Don’t move, you’re too weak.”
“Where’s Jamie?” I, now fully awake, shouted with all my strength.
The young nurse carefully helped me lie back down, avoiding eye contact.
“You and a young man were brought in together. Due to his severe injuries, resuscitation efforts were in vain… I’m sorry.”
At that moment, my heart shattered as if the mountains were collapsing and the earth was splitting, and the only rising hope crumbled.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
The nurse tried to comfort me, but my ears were buzzing, and I couldn’t hear what she said later. Two police officers entered the ward.
The person who called the police and saved me was unexpectedly my mother.
And the one who harmed both Jamie and me was also her.
In the police statement, I learned all the details.
After being rejected by me, Mr. Galer, infuriated, went to my mother.
My money-driven mother agreed to help him. In the afternoon when I got a job at the coffee shop, she called Jamie, saying she wanted his help to reconcile with me.
Jamie went to my mother’s house, but Mr. Galer’s torture awaited him.
Unstoppable tears poured like a torrential rain. I remembered the news I shared with Jamie on the phone, his powerless voice, and how much pain he had endured!
The police said that after much hesitation, my mother, fearing that it would escalate to a deadly situation, eventually called them, leading to my rescue.
As for Jamie, the blow that caused him to collapse in front of me struck a vital area, becoming the fatal blow.
Unable to bear such a devastating shock, I screamed and passed out again.
