Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right

Chapter 700

Debra raised her eyebrows innocently. "Ms. Blair, I've hardly said a word since I've been standing here. How did I end up being your target?"

Shelia scoffed, "Are you seriously going to pretend that Mr. Houston isn't doing this to defend you? Everyone knows he wouldn't even bother with women. So much for being a man of principle. He's just another guy using his power to push around women." To the untrained eye, Shelia played the victim flawlessly. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, her bottom lip trembling ever so slightly.

She had always been adept at playing the damsel, garnering sympathy from those around her.

But Debra saw right through her act. "Mr. Houston's decision to let you go has nothing to do with me. It's because you're not fit for the position."

Shelia's eyes narrowed, her voice rising in defense. "I've only been on the job for a week. What makes you think I'm not qualified?"

Debra's smile was faint but mocking. "So, you're aware of it. But from what I hear, you haven't accomplished a single thing since you took the role."

Shelia retorted, "Getting things done takes time. It's too complicated for someone getting into Arcane Academy through connections to understand. It's difficult to manage such a big company."

The employees around them began to whisper among themselves. The scandal of Debra using connections to get into Arcane Academy had been the talk of the upper-class circles, and Shelia's mention of it now reignited their curiosity.

Debra didn't rush to defend herself. Instead, she said, "Oh, that's right. Ms. Blair is also an Arcane Academy graduate."

"You still remember," Shelia replied, feeling a sense of superiority.

She had been a poor student, and graduating from Arcane Academy was a source of pride for her.

Debra smirked, "Well then, I presume you also remember that Arcane Academy is the most prestigious school in this city, filled with the best of the best. When I started my job, secured a collaboration with the Potter Group on my first day. As for you Theard that since you took office, all you have done is clock in and out, drink coffee, and decorate your new office. The papers on your desk have piled up, but you haven't even glanced at them."

Her words surprised Shelia greatly. Those were quite private things.

Shelia turned to look at her secretary, who quickly shook her head, indicating she hadn't leaked any information.

Debra grinned. As the true owner of the company, accessing the surveillance was easy for her.

She had been aware of Shelia's actions in the company over the past few days. Even if she directly

fired Shelia, Shelia would have no choice but to accept it. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

If it weren't for needing to deal with Michael's matter first, Debra would have kicked Shelia out without hesitation.

Having Marion Houston step in for her now worked too, as it would prevent the employees from speculating about the reasons behind Shelia's dismissal.

She added, "Since you mentioned

Arcane Academy, I feel regretful for

you. Recently, I visited the school, and my teacher told me that you failed to pass your graduation

internship and get your diploma."
