Chapter 54
Zane
A loud shrilling sound jerked me up from my deep sleep. I rose from the bed and pressed the alarm to stop the sound.
I rubbed my eyes as it was still blurry, I couldn’t see anything. I thought the sound would stop, but it kept on going, I turned to the alarm and that was when I realized that it wasn’t the sound from the alarm, and I had already missed the alarm.
I soon realized I was alone on the bed, an indication that Jasmine and my brothers were awake and already out of the room.
I stood up from the bed, staggering as I tried to find what was making the sound. My eyes caught the phone on the table, I picked it up and it turned out to be Jasmine’s phone.
I didn’t want to touch or check through her phone but what popped up on the screen caught my attention. It was a message from Noah.
I contemplated dropping the phone and waiting till Jasmine told us that he sent her or message, or I should just check to see what he had sent.
I stood still in the same spot for seconds, thinking about what was right to do until my anxiety got the best part of me. I swiped the phone and checked out the message.
My heart raced with a mixture of fear and annoyance when I read the message to myself,
“Hey babes, just to tell you that I love you and miss you so much, Jasmine. I know you do miss me too and I sincerely can’t wait to spend some more time with you.”
What was that? What does he mean with that message? My heart pounded in my chest. There must be something my brothers and I were missing, was Jasmine telling us the truth or there was something more to this?
I staggered back to the bed and fell on it, staring blankly at the message with thoughts racing through my mind. I knew I had to do something, I wanted to know what was going on between Noah and Jasmine if she had been lying to us or was telling us the truth.
I sighed and stood up from the bed, I would have to confront Jasmine and seek an explanation from her without letting my brothers know. They would make the whole matter worse if they got to know what was going on.Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
I nodded in agreement to my decision and headed for the bathroom to take my bath.
A few moments later, I was out of the bathroom, dressed, and ready for breakfast. Throughout my bath, all I could think about was the message and the high probability that Jasmine might have been lying to us all.
I knew it was so bad and unheard of that I was doubting my mate, but with all that had been happening, it had left out a space for doubts and we just can’t trust anyone completely.
I would have to dig into this and find out what it was that was happening between Jasmine and Noah.
I head for the dining area, where most of the family members were already seated for breakfast.
I greeted and took my seat right beside Calix. It seemed as though they had been waiting for me as they dug in immediately after I got there.
As we ate, I kept on looking up at Jasmine, with the message running through my mind. Our eyes met several times and she only smiled back at me like there was nothing wrong, I was confused.
Was I supposed to believe the message I saw and doubt her? Was I taking the wrong step? I didn’t know what to do, I just sat there and kept on stealing glances at her.
I watched as Calix fed her, kissing and his hands roaming around her, Ethan also joined in, taking turns to feed her too. Mia chuckled and took a few pictures of them as they did that, but I couldn’t bring myself to join in.
All I could think of was the message, and it was like that message kept on pushing me back from doing what I wanted to do, I couldn’t join them.
I didn’t want to make it look obvious that I was being bothered by something, I wanted to confront Jasmine without my brother’s knowledge, but I felt like I was making it too obvious as they kept looking back at me, urging me to join them.
“I am not just in the mood,” I responded, burying my head in my food.
I emptied my plate and stood up, dropping the dish into the washer before heading back to the room. I knew I shouldn’t have made it so obvious that there was something wrong, but I just couldn’t push it back, I couldn’t join in their intimate moment as all that was ringing in my head was the message.
I fell on the bed, giving it a thought and trying to figure out how I would confront Jasmine like I had planned.
I was still thinking when Jasmine walked in, picking up her phone from where she kept it.
She walked past me and stopped, “Zane.” She called.
I stood up, standing right before her with my hands in my pocket and a brow raised.
“Why are you being distant? Is everything okay?” She asked.
I chuckled, “I should rather ask you that, is everything okay?” I moved closer to her, “what are you hiding from us, Jasmine?”
“What do you mean by that?” She furrowed, “What I am hiding from you?”
I moved closer and took her phone from her, “you don’t know what you are hiding from us?” I turned the phone to her so she could see the message herself, “what about this?”
She took the phone back from me and stared at it for minutes, before looking up at me, “I do not know anything about this, you have to believe me.” She said.
I chuckled again, “How do I believe that you don’t know anything about this? Why would he just send you such a text if there isn’t something going on between you both?”
I didn’t want to accuse her of anything, but there was no other explanation for her getting such texts from Noah, and when she was with us. It made me feel like we were going to be betrayed by her again.
“I honestly do not know anything about this, and…”
“How are we supposed to believe that!”
I turned to find Calix walking in, followed by Ethan. They had been eavesdropping at the door all along.
“We can’t just believe you because you said so, Jasmine. A lot of things have happened in the last few days and Noah might have done something to you or even threatened you so you can go against us. We just want you to tell us the truth.” said Ethan, his voice low and serious.
“The truth?” She asked.
“Yes, the truth.” We chorused.
She turned her phone to us and showed us that she was calling Noah, she put the phone on speaker. “Noah!” She said.
“Hey, you.” He said, laughing from the other end of the phone, “You should have gotten my text now, you have just two days to show yourself to me or you will have yourself to blame. I gave you two days so you could be with your mate and let them f**k you like the hoe you are, and if I don’t have you here after that, I will make sure you watch each and everyone die, you…”
“How dare you!” Ethan shouted, but before he could take the phone from Jasmine, she hung up the phone and turned to us.
Her gaze went from each one of us to the other. It wasn’t what we were thinking, Jasmine wasn’t lying to us to betray us, she was rather under threat.
Noah had been threatening her!
