Ghost Lover

Chapter eighteen

It has been two days since the incident between Jake and Allen in school, and Austin avoided his brother like a plague in school, it was even worse at home.

That day after school, Austin came barging into his room and Allen fumed with anger

“Are you stupid” he screamedPlease check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

“Hey hey, chill” Allen raised his hands up, urging him to calm down and took a step backwards

“Just get out of my room” he screamed pointing at his door, it was obvious Just the sight of Allen infuriated him.

“You haven’t even heard my side of the sto.. ry”

“What side? Huh, talk to me man, what side” he took a step towards Allen as he repeated his words. “Do I look like the principal or those students who bought every piece of nonsense you said, you went after Jake and you know it. Why did you even come back, this is you ruining my life again as you did when we were kids”

Allen stood there, too stunned to speak, Austin’s word went right through him.

“Oh now you don’t know what to say” he chuckled with sadness and anger buried beneath it. “You’d be doing me a huge favour staying away from me and Nala”

“Nala?”

“yes, Nala”

Allen laughed, turning around and looking at his brother with mischief plastered all-over his face.

“She’s not for you brother”

“We’ll see, now leave”

Allen smiled, and walked away. Stole one last glance at his brother before leaving.

Austin remembered this day vividly and the burning sensation accompanied by the pain he felt that night was nothing he had ever felt before since his mother’s death. Was Tasha right about him hating his brother?

The ruse between him and Allen went unnoticed by their father, you could tell how absent minded he was about the things going on in the house.

Going to school that day felt like every other day, the students were all busy in their corners and it was just like Jake didn’t even exist. As if getting Jake suspended wasn’t enough for Allen, he took over Jake’s group of boys. He sat on the table while the boys surrounded him as he made jokes about several things and his eyes collided with Austin as he made his way past the cafeteria, but he went back to laughing with the guys like he saw no one. Nala had been avoiding him since that day and Allen couldn’t figure out why, he thought maybe what he did on the assembly ground was a bit too much.

“Hey baby” Austin smiled as he came across Nala sitting in the stands on the field

*Hey” her face lightened up as soon as he raised her head up and saw it was him.

While he was removing his bag and sitting beside her, she shifted a bit.

“Why are you moving?” He smiled

“Uhh, Just need you to have enough space” she stuttered.

“Come closer” he wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her closer to his side.

Nala could feel her cheeks turn red and her heartbeat increasing rapidly.

“So what are you doing here, all alone in this field” He asked as he ran his eyes across the whole field. He instantly realised this was the first time he was getting the full view of the stadium, the grass land behind the stands at the other side.

“I never realised this was so beautiful”

“What’s so beautiful?” She asked, confused. She noticed the trail of his eyes and followed them. “Oh, the field”

“That’s not why I’m here though”

“So why are you here?” he leaned back, making sure she turned to look at him and have her fixated on him.

“Well..” she swallowed hard, as he noticed his eyes. He had never been this attractive. His eyes were literally screaming that he wants her, why can she understand him? “Arghh” she screamed inside. she turned her head back to him, refilled with confidence,

“Well you begged me to train you, so I have to get a full view of where my boy would train, won’t I?”

“So I have to get a full view of where my boy would train, won’t I?” That word echoes again with mockery.

“TASHA!” Austin muffled in silence.

“What?” Nala asked, as she thought Austin said something

“Nothing, nothing” he said quickly, standing up abruptly

“Did I do anything wrong?” Nala held his hands, stopping him from leaving.

“Yes, did she do anything wrong?” Tasha teased as she ran her hands across his face, walking In front of him and leaning on the rails protecting the stands, in order to stop people from falling over.

Austin noticed her change in the dress, and she smelled differently, like his favourite vanilla ice cream but just in the form of an annoying person.

“Just tell her that you can see an extremely sexy ghost standing in front of you who you wanna do things to”

She stared at her nala with a smirk on her face, walking towards her.

“She just needs some touches on her hair and dressing style, trust me she would be smoking hot. But not just up to my standards you know”

“I just have to go Nala, I’ll call you. I promise” Austin hurriedly removed her hands from his, trying to leave there as soon as possible before Tasha makes him say something or do something that would warrant Nala thinking he’s crazy or something.

Nala on the other hand was busy thinking about if what she said was wrong, was he offended that she called him a boy. Did she mess this up?

“I’m sorry” she pleaded

Tasha’s face immediately switched up and it was obvious she was disgusted, why is she apologising.

“Why are you apologising?” Austin asked, smiling and looking surprised

“Nevermind, you did nothing wrong” he said again even before she uttered a word.

Nala was bewildered with his behaviour and why was he trying to leave her there, just as things were getting better. She’s trying to rectify things and he’s not having it.

“I’m trying to apologise and you are being a dick about it”

“Excuse me” Austin turned abruptly surprised by what she said

“This should be interesting,” Tasha muttered as she saw Allen walking up the stairs.

“So what’s going on here” Allen bounced in with two of the football players

“Let’s go” Austin said to nala, trying to grab her hands but she dodged him. “Nala” he muttered in a low tone, as he leaned towards her.

“It’s obvious she doesn’t want to go with you bro, leave her alone” Allen grabbed his hands and attempted to pull him back, Austin quickly turned and shoved his brother back with his full strength, which sent Allen flying into the arms of the two students who accompanied him. Allen regained his balance, smiled and straightened his clothes.

“Oh you are dead,” he said, biting his lips and charging at Austin.
