Fractured Faith Rekindled Affection Novel by Peppermint Cat

Chapter 6

After wrapping up everything, I was preoccupied with figuring out how to divorce Jordan.

In the past few days, he had seemed genuinely sorry, trying to make amends by taking me out to dinner and sending flowers. But with all the handovers work I had, I couldn’t focus much on his intentions.

I knew he wouldn’t last long. Patience was never his strong suit.

What surprised me was that Qiana actually reached out and asked to meet for lunch.

When I arrived, she was already there, sipping her coffee with a touch of sophistication.

I glanced at her slightly rounded belly and said, “You really shouldn’t drink coffee while you’re pregnant. It’s not good for you.” “Are you genuinely concerned, or are you just jealous that my baby will be born on time?” Qiana shot back, her tone dripping with sarcasm. I didn’t expect her to be so bold.

She continued with an air of superiority, “You and Jordan are no longer together. Why don’t you just divorce him? While you were having your cold war, we were out watching movies, going on dates, seeing the Northern Lights, and attending prenatal appointments. You, as his wife, got nothing, while I, as a single mother, got all this care. Isn’t that a bit of a failure on your part?”

“If you called me here just to brag about how you’ve picked up my discarded trash, I don’t see the point. I’m not into recycling,” I said, ordering a glass of plain water. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

She looked at me, then continued, “No wonder he doesn’t like you. You’re like this plain water, bland and easy to forget.”

“Miss Lynch, hasn’t anyone told you that people can live without coffee, but they’ll definitely die without water?” I replied, then turned and walked away.

Meeting her seemed pointless.

As I was leaving, she suddenly stood up and said, “Caroline, why are you being like this? I’m just suggesting you reconcile with Dr. Miller. He loves you so much, and you’re being so cruel by attacking my baby. I’m just his assistant. If I were meant to be with him, we’d have been together long ago.”

I looked at her self–righteous act and said, “Jordan might treat you well, but I don’t think he’s foolish enough to be a rebound.” Sure enough, as soon as I finished speaking, Jordan walked in.

He stepped before me, saying, “I’ve already told you, there’s nothing between Qiana and me. Why do you keep going after her?” Then he started to lead Qiana out the door.

Just as they reached the exit, he turned back and added, “When you first mentioned divorce, I thought you were serious, and I was honestly scared. But now I see it was just a way to manipulate me. Caroline, I don’t understand how you’ve become so cold and ruthless. I’m really disappointed in you. I think you have some serious issues, and I’m done putting up with it. Do you want a divorce? Fine, I agree.”

He straightened up and walked out without looking back.

I almost burst out laughing. Could it really be this easy? The divorce I dreaded was handed to me on a silver platter.

I noticed Qiana flashing a smug smile, so I quickly hid my own. No need to get ahead of myself–there’s still that divorce agreement to seal the deal.
