Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Scott, Tom, and Katie were shocked when they saw the badge. It was Tom's badge which he had
always kept in his pocket. And the picture on the badge was the same as the mural plastered in Scott's
study room.
Sheriff Webb's eyes locked on Scott. The middle-aged man looked at him intently. Then, he asked
again, “Mr. Hanson, do you recognize this badge?”
"Oh sorry, Sheriff. Y-yes of course I recognize the badge. That badge belongs to Tom and somehow it's
in your hands because Tom lost his badge a while ago,” Scott stammered.
"Sir, are you sure about your explanation?" asked Sheriff Webb disgruntled.
Suddenly, Katie remembered that she had to check the food she made. Then she said goodbye to
Sheriff Webb.
“Umm Sheriff, I'm sorry. I have to go back inside and check my cooking.” Then Katie sprinted into the
house and left her two friends behind.
Now, only her two other friends and Sheriff Webb were left. Tom could not do much or answered the
questions asked by the middle-aged man.
"Yeah, I'm sure and sorry we can't help you," said Scott, feeling a little scared.
"Last night there were a lot of victims in the woods, and I have my suspicions that you guys were
involved in this," replied Sheriff Webb.
"Do you just guess from that badge that we were involved?" asked Tom.
“Yes, apart from finding Mr. Hanson at the bottom of the abyss with a girl. How could you possibly be
trapped down there?” asked Sheriff Webb suspiciously.
“I felt at a different point than her and by chance I found her. Does this sound weird to you?” asked
Scott.
"Yes. It would be better if you all admit what happened last night before I investigate this further and
find out the truth.”
"We don't know about it and somehow the badge got there," Scott said.
“Alright, if you insist, that's fine. But, I will keep an eye on you guys and find out the truth. Good
afternoon all." Sheriff Webb got back into his car and drove away leaving them who start to feel worried
that their identities would be known.
Tom sighed and looked at his best friend and said, "How is it?"
After making sure Sheriff Webb's car was out of sight, then Scott led Tom into the house. Arriving at the
house, Scott invited him to talk in his study room.
They sat opposite each other at Scott's desk. He was silent and seemed to be deep in thought about all
of this. The case of his father's death, the incident last night in the middle of the forest. He feared that
one day Sheriff Webb would find out the truth and it would affect his family's reputation and business.
The werewolves mingled with the residents of Stowe for hundreds of years and although there were a
few cases, they were all covered up by the High Court.
“Scott, what should we do?” Tom asked, looking into his face.
"We can only be more careful, report this matter to the High Court and ask Mr. James for help," he
replied.
"Then, what is written in the autopsy letter from the police?" asked Tom.
“My father died from poison. Someone must have put poison in his food and I'm not sure if Fred's father
was the mastermind behind it all. They do compete, but during that time both of them always compete
healthily. I want to investigate this, but I don't know where to start.”
"You can start with your father's assistant first," said Katie who suddenly entered Scott's study room,
carrying two plates of fruit pies. Then, the girl sat beside Tom and put the two plates on the table.
"Do you mean we start by questioning Bert?" asked Scott.
"Yeah, he was with your dad when it happened," Katie replied.
"But, he has testified in court and the police before."
“But, you don't know the details of the whole story. Start with him, then from the chef at your residence
at that time.”
“Mrs. Jenkins?" asked Scott.
"Yes, she is. She made the lunch. Isn't there anyone else in your residence?" Katie asked.
"Looks like Katie's right. Let's try to get to Bert's house first. What do you think, Scott?” asked Tom.
"Good. We start in the next few days. I have something to do at the factory,” Scott replied.
“Scott, regarding the girl that found with you. Does she know your identity?” asked Tom.
"No, she doesn't know anything. She believed that I was a victim like her. She was—” Scott said.
"What is it?" Katie asked curiously.
“Either this is a coincidence or everything has been arranged by fate, but that girl is my mate. But she's
a human."
"Is it true?" asked Tom.
"Yeah, I don't know what to do."
“It would be better if you mark her at the next full moon. That means the Moon Goddess has brought
your luna here," Tom replied.
"She's a human, Tom. If I mark her at the next full moon it means you know, right?”
"Yeah I know, but it's the only way you two become one."
"We'll talk about this another time." Then, Scott quickly finished his food and walked out of his study
room. The handsome man went into his bedroom and lay down.
Meanwhile, Katie who knows if Scott has found his mate becomes jealous. All this time she kept her
love for Scott in her heart, even though she knew that the man was impossible to have, but she had
been in love since they were teenagers.
Curiosity about the mate who was destined for Scott also filled her heart and mind. And so, she
planned to find out and monitor the girl.
One week later, Lisa was allowed to return to her home, although the girl was still using a wand to walk. Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.
However, the happy face looks very clear. As soon as her father's car stopped in front of her
grandmother's house, Sean immediately opened the door for Lisa and helped her get out of the car.
When Dorothy heard the sound of a car stopped in front of her house, she rushed out of the house and
approached them.
"Lisa, Honey," Dorothy called as she walked over to where Lisa was using her wand.
"Grandma," Lisa replied and the two immediately embraced.
"Let's go in. I have cooked a lot of food for you. Oh, Bruce, there's someone who wants to see you,"
said Dorothy.
"Who, Mom?" Bruce asked curiously.
"She's a woman, she stays at a hotel in the middle of the city. You were asked to call her,” Dorothy
replied.
"Does she come from Manhattan?" asked Bruce.
"Yeah, it looks like she's in a bad mood. She looks messed up."
"What do you mean by the word messed up?" asked Bruce.
