Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

The visit

Nathan stared into Demelza’s eyes like he was about to feed in her soul. Demelza knew very well that if Nathan had the chance, he was going to strangle her and squeeze every nerve from her body.

But thankfully he couldn’t so she gave him a clown smile and stood up from the table. “I better go now, I have work to go to.” She said to Nathan smiling. It felt so good being the one that had the upper hand for once in her life. “And erm, don’t expect me at work tomorrow, you can enjoy the space with your little toy.” She gasped, “not a toy, a whore.” Demelza said to Nathan. She winked and turned to leave for home.

Nathan sat there and watched Demelza leave without saying a word or objecting to anything she had just said. He needed to be very smart about it. His name commanded respect and he would not let a dumb employee of his ruin his whole career.

Demelza walked home feeling happier and hopeful. Getting Nathan to represent her Dad meant her having her dad back.

But somehow, deeply inside something gnawed at her. How come he was so complacent? Nathan didn’t go down that easily. What if he had tricks up his sleeves she didn’t know of?

She unlocked her apartment and went inside. She had a quick shower and prepared to go to the restaurant for her shift.

While Nathan sat there, he thought about the best way to play this game with Demelza as she was in for it. He couldn’t betray his best friend neither can he afford to not represent her father in court.

He sighed and stood up to leave the coffee shop. He dropped some dollars on the table without caring if he had changed. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Erm, sir. You_” the waitress stuttered trying to call Nathan back to tell him he dropped extra cash.

“Keep the change.” Nathan said without looking back.

The waitress smiled from gaining and extra change for the day. She went back to her work as he watched Nathan leave in his exotic car.

“No wonder he left his cash.’ she said to herself seeing the posh car he owned.

Nathan decided to go to Hampton’s house before returning home. He needed to give him a heads up so that he would not be surprised to see him defending Demelza’s gathering court.

As Nathan approached the grand wrought iron gates of Hampton’s house, he pressed the button and stretched out his face for the camera to capture. Hampton set his automated house to recognize Nathan. Immediately the camera detected it was Nathan, the gate opened wide and Nathan made his way inside.

What he liked the most about Hampton’s house was the intricate carvings with peculiar art designs resting on the tall pillars of the house. After subtly satisfying himself with the beauty of Hampton’s house, he made his way to the massive front door made of rare mahogany. As he stood in front of the door that showed him his reflection, he couldn’t help but admire how good he looked.

Even in a time like this, his egoistic nature remained intact. Immediately he entered the house, there was a soft chime to notify that someone had just entered the house.

Nathan looked around for Hampton but he couldn’t find him anywhere around. “Welcome, sir.” the butler greeted Nathan.

“Thank you. Where is Hampton?” Nathan asked the butler.

“He is in his study, sir. Will you go to him? or should I inform him you are downstairs?” the butler asked Nathan to know Nathan’s preference.

“I’ll wait for him by the pool.” Nathan responded. the butler left to call Hampton while Nathan walked to the pool area and sat down on the lounge chair by it. He liked the place because it has this cool atmosphere due to the trees planted there to decorate the area.

While he sat there looking around, the butler arrived with a bucket of champagne and two glasses. He turned that of Hampton upside down and left Nathan’s cup open.

“Should I pour, Sir?” The butler asked.

“Yes, please.” Nathan responded delighted to see the champagne. Atkaser something to relieve his stress.

When the butler finished filling his cup, he left Nathan to his drink while he waited for Hampton to come down.

After a few minutes of Nathan sitting alone, he heard Hampton’s footsteps approaching him. He could recognize Hampton’s footsteps even in his sleep, he has known Hampton long enough.

“Hey, my friend, it’s been a minute,” Hampton said to Nathan, extending a handshake.

“For real man,” Nathan responded with a warm smile returning the handshake.

Hampton sat down beside Nathan and poured himself a drink.

The two friends spoke for a while catching up. They have not had the time to see each other for a while now which is why they had a lot to talk about.

“Right, the reason I came here.” Nathan said.

Hampton turned to look at him, giving full concentration.

“I Will be representing Demelza’s father in court.” Nathan dropped the bombshell which made Hampton’s eye immediately turned red.

“You are choosing a pussy over me?” Hampton asked, feeling betrayed.

“Calm down, man.” Nathan said, trying to calm Hampton.

“Calm down? I should calm_” Hampton said without finding his statement.

“If only you will just cam down and allow me finish talking.” Nathan told him.

Hampton scoffed looking at Nathan.

“I’m in a tight spot here, brother.” Nathan started but Hampton will not let him finish.

“Tight spot? Now I’m your brother. Cut the crap.” Hampton said moving away from Nathan.

“Damn it, Hampton, listen to me.” Nathan said with frustration. He knew Hampton to always have anger issues which made his reaction not to be a surprise. But at this point, he needed Hampton to give him a listening ear as he is frustrated enough already.

“Fine then, I’m listening. It better be good.” Hampton said.

“She’s got a rope tied around my neck and the best I can do is represent her father and make them lose the case.” Nathan explained.

Hampton’s anger calmed down immediately after hearing that because he knew Nathan had not lost a case before. Would he be willing to break that record just to maintain the bro code. Hampton wondered.

“What does she have against you?” Hampton asked worriedly.

“I can’t say man but it can ruin my whole career and reputation,” Nathan responded.

“That bitch,” Hampton slat out. Everything about Demelza annoyed him which was why he derived joy in making her suffer. He found her fascinating, her beauty intoxicating, but still…

“Damn, she must really have you hooked.” Hampton said to Nathan, thinking of what the bitch had on him to make him willing to break the record he worked so hard to maintain.

Everyone feared Nathan Storm because no one whoever stood against him in court won. He was one lawyer people knew to hire because he never lost a case, not if his life depended on it.

He was called the undefeatable!

“Whatever it is man, I hope you sort it out soon,” Hampton told him, patting his left shoulder. He picked his glass and sipped the content slowly while in thought.

“Yeah, sure. I better get going now. I need to rest before tomorrow. It’s a long day.”

Both men shook and Nathan left for home in his car. On his drive home, he picked up his phone to text Demelza.

‘I’ll be your father’s lawyer, see you at the office tomorrow for prep.’ Nathan typed and sent the message to Demelza.

Demelza turned swiftly immediately her phone chimed. She screamed in excitement to see Nathan’s text. It was finally becoming a reality after a long wait.

She continued with her work in anticipation of seeing her father soon. Unknown to her, Nathan didn’t have the intention to help her win the case. He just wanted to fool her.

Nathan drove very fast to the house to relieve stress. Driving very fast was one of the ways Nathan relieved stress.

He was soon by his driveway and in less than a minute his car gilded to a stop in front of the house. He pressed a button and the gate automatically opened and Nathan drove in and parked in front of the fountain that provided a sweet melody.

Before he alighted from the car, he remembered to text Ryan. He sent the clip to Ryan with the caption ‘See you at the office tomorrow.’
