Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

Make up your mind

As the door to the guest room swung open, the atmosphere was charged with tension.

The room was dimly lit, casting long shadows across the walls. Silver, sitting on the edge of the bed, looked up in surprise as Nathan barged in, clearly agitated.

“Why the hell did you throw that stunt, Silver?” Nathan demanded, his voice laced with anger. They crossed his arms, awaiting an explanation.

Silver, her face a mix of defiance and hurt, met his gaze. “Are you choosing Demelza over our baby?” she asked, her hand instinctively resting on her still flat tummy a new habit of hers. Her voice trembled slightly, faking vulnerability.

“No, Silver,” Nathan replied firmly, shaking his head. “You poured the drink on Demelza, not the baby. Don’t twist the situation.”

Rolling her eyes, Silver let out a frustrated sigh. “You always take her side,” she muttered under her breath, her resentment palpable.

Frustration etched on his face, Nathan took a step closer. “Know your place, Silver,” they said, his voice tinged with a mix of anger and disappointment. “Demelza is the love of my life, and you need to accept that.”Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Silver’s eyes welled up with tears, her lower lip. “But I thought we had something,” she whimpered, her voice filled with desperation.

Nathan’s patience wore thin. “Pack your things,” he commanded, his voice stern. “I don’t mind dragging you out if I have to.”

Silver’s whimpers turned into full blown cries as she reluctantly began to gather her belongings.

Nathan, his face set in determination, grabbed her suitcases and headed towards the door. Silver followed, tears streaming down her face.

Outside, Nathan loaded the suitcases into the trunk of his car, his movements swift and purposeful. He opened the passenger door and turned to face Silver. “Get in,” he said coldly, his anger still evident.

Silent and defeated, Silver climbed into the car, her tears staining her cheeks. Nathan got behind the wheel, his grip on the steering wheel tight, and drove off angrily, taking Silver back to the apartment he had gotten for her.

The car ride was filled with an uncomfortable silence, the weight of his shattered relationship hanging heavily in the air. Nathan’s mind raced with conflicting emotions, while Silver sat in the passenger seat still faking a cry but Nathan ignored her.

Nathan stood at the entrance of the luxurious apartment and he pushed her suitcases in, his eyes fixed on Silver.

He hoped to find a resolution that would allow him to focus on his relationship with Demelza.

“What do you want, Silver?” Nathan asked, his voice devoid of emotion. “I’m willing to give you any amount of money you desire. Just name your price and leave Demelza and I alone.”

Silver looked around the apartment, her eyes scanning the lavish furnishings and expensive decor. She scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain. “I don’t want any of this material crap, Nathan. All I want is you.”

Nathan’s eyebrows furrowed in frustration. “That can never happen, Silver. What we had was a mistake, a momentary lapse in our lives.

I can’t be with you and will never be with you. But I will take care of our unborn child. Financially, emotionally, whatever he might need.”

Silver’s eyes narrowed, her voice laced with irritation. “So, you think money can replace love? Is that what you’re saying?”

Nathan sighed, his patience wearing thin. “No, Silver. I’m saying that what we had wasn’t love. It was a fleeting connection, a result of our own recklessness. I mean, we just used each other to pass time. I thought you understood. I care about our child, and I will do everything in my power to provide for them. But I can’t be with you.”

Silver’s face twisted with anger, her voice rising. “You think you can just throw money at me and make everything okay? I don’t want your damn money! I want you!”

Nathan’s jaw clenched, his voice firm. “I can’t give you what you want, Silver. I’m committed to Demelza now. If you can’t accept that, then we have nothing more to discuss.”

Tears welled up in Silver’s eyes, her voice trembling. “You’re making a mistake, Nathan. You’ll regret this.”

Nathan’s expression remained unchanged, his resolve unyielding. “I won’t. Now, if you’re not interested in the apartment, I can buy a house for you and our child. But that’s the extent of what I can offer.”

Silver wiped away her tears, a mix of anger and sadness in her voice. “Fine, give me the damn house. But don’t think this is over, Nathan. I won’t give up on us.”

Nathan’s gaze hardened, his voice cold. “There is no ‘us,’ Silver. It’s time for you to accept that.”

With those final words, Nathan turned away, leaving Silver standing in the luxurious apartment.

The drive home was a chill one and before he realized it, he arrived home. As he stepped through the front door, the emptiness of the house hit him like a wave.

The silence seemed to amplify his longing for Demelza, and he knew he couldn’t bear another moment without her.

Determined to find her, he reached for his phone and dialed her number, his heart pounding with anticipation.

Ring after ring, his hope began to waver as Demelza refused to pick up.

Frustration crept into his voice as he called again and again, desperately seeking her attention.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the call connected, and he heard her voice on the other end.

“What do you want?” Demelza’s tone was curt, her irritation evident.

He took a deep breath, trying to steady his racing thoughts. “Please, just calm down,” he pleaded. “I miss you, Demelza. I need to know where you are.”

“It’s none of your business,” she snapped back, her voice laced with annoyance.

His heart sank at her words, but he refused to give up. “Please, I’m begging you. I just want to make sure you’re safe after leaving home. Can you at least tell me where you are?”

There was a moment of silence, and he held his breath, hoping for a glimmer of understanding. Finally, she relented, her voice softening. “I’m at the DCC Hotel,” she admitted, her tone guarded.

Relief washed over him, but he knew he had hurt her with his earlier actions. “I’m so sorry, Demelza,” he apologized sincerely. “I didn’t mean to upset you. I just… I care about you, and I want to make things right.”

But before he could finish his sentence, she cut him off abruptly. “I just want to sleep,” she said curtly, her exhaustion evident. And with that, she ended the call, leaving him with a mix of emotions.

He stood there, phone still pressed to his ear, feeling a sense of emptiness settle over him once again.

The weight of his mistakes hung heavy in the air, and he knew he had a long road ahead to mend his fractured relationship.

He decided to have a drink and as he poured himself a generous amount of whiskey.

As he took a sip of the alcohol, a thought struck him like a lightning bolt.

He glanced at his car keys on the counter and made a swift decision.

He needed to see Demelza, to beg her to come back home. Without wasting another moment, he snatched the keys and hurried out the door.

Arriving at the grand DCC hotel, Nathan made his way to the reception desk, his heart pounding in his chest. He approached the receptionist, a young woman.

“Excuse me, miss. I’m looking for someone named Demelza. Can you please tell me which room she’s in?” He asked politely

“I’m sorry, sir, but I can’t disclose that information without proper authorization.” The receptionist responded

Nathan’s desperation grew, and he knew he had to escalate the situation.

“Get me your manager” He requested the receptionist to call her manager.

“Very well, sir. Let me get my manager for you.” She responded and disappeared for a while.

Within minutes, a middle aged man in a fine tailored suit appeared, recognizing Nathan.

“Mr. Storm, I apologize for any inconvenience. How may I assist you?” He asked

“Thank you for coming promptly. I need to see someone named Demelza. It’s urgent. Can you please find out her room number?”

The manager nodded understandingly and swiftly accessed the hotel’s system, searching for Demelza’s details.

“I have found her room number, sir. She is in room 512 on the fifth floor. Take the elevator to your left,”

Nathan’s heart raced with a mix of hope and anxiety as he thanked the manager and hurried towards the elevator.

The doors closed, and he pressed the button for the fifth floor, mentally rehearsing what he would say to Demelza.

He knew he had to make things right, to convince Demelza to give his relationship another chance.

The elevator doors opened, revealing a corridor lined with plush carpets. Nathan quickly located room 512 and knocked on the door, his heart pounding in his ears.

As Demelza tossed and turned on the bed unable to sleep, she heard a knock on the door.

She wondered who it could be at this hour, as she wasn’t expecting anyone.

Setting her phone aside, she made her way to the door and opened it, only to find Nathan standing there.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” Demelza asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.

Nathan shifted uncomfortably, his eyes avoiding hers. “I… I needed to see you,” he replied, his voice filled with a mix of guilt and desperation.

Demelza’s brow furrowed as she tried to make sense of his sudden appearance. “How did you find me? I thought I told you I needed some space.”

Nathan’s foot instinctively blocked the door from closing as he stepped forward. “I’m sorry, Demelza. I know I messed up earlier, but I had to find you. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing you.”

Demelza sighed, frustration evident in her voice. “Nathan, I can’t keep dealing with these kinds of issues with Silver. It’s tearing me apart. I can’t be with someone who can’t make up their mind.”
