Chapter 14: Can You Get Out?
Chapter 14: Can You Get Out?
The next morning.
She could go to work a bit late so she decided to sleep comfortably until she waked up naturally. She
wanted to feel relaxed and refreshed.
But while she was still sleeping, she was wakened by the loud sound of her doorbell.
Felicity rubbed her sleepy eyes, put on a jacket over her pajamas and went to open the door.
She glanced through the door that she opened to a crack and saw a middle-aged couple standing
outside.
After seeing them, Felicity’s face fell in distaste and she closed the door with a flick of her hand.
She didn't want to see them again, not even for a second.
But as she was closing the door, the man outside resisted forcibly and didn’t let her close it.
Then, the man opened his mouth angrily and began to shout at her, "Evil little ungrateful girl! Is this
how you greet your father?"
Felicity’s expressions were cold and hard as she snapped back at him, "I don't have a father. You can
leave!"
Her words made Stanley James fire up with anger; his face turned ugly.
The woman beside him said, "Oh, if you don't care about whether your mother lives or dies, sure go
ahead and close the door!"
Stella Cooper had a sneer on her face, her mouth opened in a cold threat.
Hearing this, Felicity felt as if she got stabbed in her heart, she couldn’t help but shudder in shock.
She broke into a cold sweat. Trying to keep her composure, she stopped trying to close the door and
asked coldly, "What do you mean?"
"Let us in first!"
Stanley pushed open the door Felicity was blocking and entered her apartment with his wife Stella.
Felicity was forced to endure them; for the safety of her mother, she could not say anything.
She stood there rigidly, looking at her father and his wife coldly, not letting her guard down.
"Tut Tut! This is really shabby. Is this chair for people to sit on?"
Stella looked around the apartment, apparently disgusted at the simplicity of the furniture.
Felicity felt a wave of anger rising in her; she snapped angrily, "Did I ask you to sit? Don’t get my chair
dirty!"
She did not welcome them in the first place, and when she heard that, she could no longer be polite.
This apartment belonged to her and her mother; outsiders were not welcomed to come and to point at Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
things with disgust.
Stella’s expressions darkened dangerously in an instant and she angrily rebuked Felicity, "Is this how
you talk to your elders? Don’t you have any manners? Is this what your mother taught you? "
Felicity sneered, "It's none of your goddamn business! Elders? Don't disgust me. If you have something
to say, say it quickly and leave!”
An outsider, a mistress, destroying someone’s family… How could such a person be regarded
respectfully as an elder?
Did she even deserve respect?
When Stanley heard Felicity’s words for his current wife, he got angry too, "Hold your tongue Felicity!
Did you ever learn anything, or are you completely manner-less?”
His daughter was capable of nothing but just running her mouth disrespectfully!
Felicity’s eyebrows knitted together in anger as she retorted sarcastically, "I didn’t have a father to
teach me, so of course, I have no manners. If you can’t handle it, then you are free to leave. No one’s
making you stay here on gunpoint."
Seeing Felicity indirectly insult him, Stanley became even angrier, but he still forced himself to endure
it.
After all, he came here with a purpose. He must make himself clear.
"I came here to tell you something, I'll leave after I’m done."
Stanley clearly indicated his intention.
“Fine! Tell me."
Felicity didn't want to argue with them anymore.
"I came here today to discuss your marriage."
Stanley wasted no time in beating around the bush; he went straight to the point.
Hearing this, Felicity frowned. Marriage?
"What marriage?"
She had a bad feeling in her heart, and it was showing clearly on her face.
"You have now graduated from university. With your current living situation, you won’t be able to find a
good job. So, I have arranged a marriage for you. Finding a good family for you to marry into is also a
good opportunity for us as a family."
Stanley clearly and logically explained that what he wants is for Felicity to marry the person she chose
for her.
"You don't have to worry about it!"
Felicity just couldn’t believe that her father could ever have such a kind of intention for her? Would he
ever arrange her marriage without any benefit for himself?
No! It was probably just for his own benefit.
"Don't be so negative about it. The other party is the rich and powerful Rhodes family!"
Stanley accentuated his tone, emphasizing on the rich and powerful Rhodes family.
Felicity’s expressions immediately became cold. Did her father plan this? Arranged her marriage in a
rich family for his own good?
And these so-called Rhodes, she had never heard of them.
What even was this? What kind of a person would force his daughter to marry a person she had never
even met, like in ancient times?
Thinking this, Felicity immediately replied, "If you have not forgotten, I am no longer your daughter, I left
you and your family a long time ago. Since when are you qualified to arrange my marriage?"
From the moment her mother and father divorced, Felicity only knew her mother.
As for this cold-blooded and heartless father, Felicity had long forgotten him.
Stanley said with a sneer, “Don't forget, you are still registered in the James family by law. You are
Felicity James and I am your father; you have to listen to what I say."
Stanley clearly showed his position and authority, his voice full of tough attitude.
"What if I disagree?"
Felicity raised an eyebrow in disdain and asked.
"I must also tell you that I am not here to discuss it with you, but to inform you about it. The Rhodes is
extremely wealthy. Consider it a blessing that their son has taken a liking to you."
Stanley snorted. Since when did Felicity’s opinion matter?
She had no right, no qualifications to even consider rejecting this offer, so she must agree to this.
Although Felicity did not believe a word he said, she didn’t want to continue to argue with him in this
matter. She disdainfully asked, "If you are done talking, then can you get out from here?"
She was so disgusted that she didn't feel anything telling her father to get lost.
"Felicity, don't be so shameless!"
Stella couldn’t ignore this attitude and immediately shouted at her angrily.
"You have no place to speak here! Don't forget, this is my home! If you don't leave right now, I'll call the
police! "
Felicity glared at them, her voice full of disgust and threat.
Stanley didn't expect that she would go to such length to defy him, he cried in anger and desperation,
"You will regret it later!"
"Get out!"
Felicity was almost roaring now; she pointed to the door to make them leave immediately.
Stella still had something to say but, Stanley pulled her with him. He was very angry and did not want
to stay there any longer.
Whenever they met, the father and daughter fought as if they were at war with each other.
It was as if there was a deep-rooted hatred between them.
After the door closed, Felicity stood there, still full of hate and anger.
