Drawn to You: The Billionaire’s Second Wife

Chapter 26

“This request is so polite… I should prepare his meal and get it to his office.” She thought, circling her lips. She felt baffled at the moment, not knowing what to give as an answer.

Xavier stood patiently waiting for her response, he had known the hunger won’t spare him once he leaves the conference meeting back to his company.

He doesn’t feel like getting a meal from the eatery, he prefers to get a different taste for the day.

“What if Lilian finds out that the meal is for her fiance and then I’m taking it to his office once I’m done.” She bit her upper lip. “But I can’t keep the young man starving throughout the day, since his fiance doesn’t care at all.”

She heaved a big sigh. “Isn’t it better to get a meal from the eatery or resort? At least to save you the time I’ll waste.”

Xavier shook his head expressing how difficult it is to accede to her idea.

“I want to taste a different meal today, not from the eatery again.” He responded vividly.

She had no other choice than to give in to the request, she assured him of getting the meal prepared soon and then will come over with it.

Xavier felt happiness overwhelming him, he can’t wait to accept Vanessa in his office.

She watched him step into his car and drove off from the compound, she bid him a goodbye inwardly and then dashed into the room.

The sitting room was so quiet, she had expected to see Lilian seated either but her expectation failed her.

For the first time since she began working for Mr. Xavier, she stepped into the kitchen wholeheartedly.

She began searching around the room to get hold of the foodstuff. Finally, she found them well organized and placed them carefully at the side of the building.

Gosh! It slipped her mind asking what to prepare.

She thought and left to get her cellphone in Chloe’s room, there she contacted him and he picked up the receiver on the first ring.

“You never told me what to prepare.” She spoke through the phone.

He thought. “I’ll just need something light so I won’t doze off while on duty. Get me noodles and fried chicken wraps, make sure to add the essential nutrients needed.”

“Okay then.” She responded and hung up the call.

It gladdened her that what he requested wasn’t something that would take much of her time preparing.

She needs to hurry up with what she’s doing to visit the bakery and make some sales.

While she was busy cooking in the kitchen, she heard footsteps approaching the kitchen.

She doesn’t need to be told that it’s Lilian. The worst enemy she has, and will never be prey to her.

“What the heck is going on here? Miss Vanessa, who ordered you to step into this kitchen?” She queried her.

Vanessa glanced at her and looked away, jabbering with her that this early morning isn’t what she wants.

“I’m I not speaking to a human? To what guts do you have to step into this kitchen?” Lilian asked the second time.

“Mr. Xavier gave me the guts to do so.” That’s just all she said.

Lilian bit her lips in consternation. “I bet you, Vanessa, you’re digging your grave. Weren’t you employed as a babysitter? Now you’re the chef. And what discussion did you have with him that led to this?”

“Mr. Xavier left to work with an empty stomach, while he has someone like you. So because he’s in a hurry to meet up with the conference meeting, he pleaded I should prepare noodles for him and get them to his office.” Vanessa narrated.

Lilian hit the table out of anger. “Wait for a second, he pleaded… not ordered. And then requested you to get it to his office huh?”

“Is it a crime for him to plead, I am not either his chef or fiancee… that’s why he had to request because I have something else to do.” She replied.

“This is serious, you’re just an ordinary worker and you know that right?”

“You said so..” Vanessa retorted.

She pushed Nessa to a side dominating her position. “To hell with your meal, I can’t watch you spellbind Xavier.”

Vanessa didn’t say a word, she only washed her palms and left the kitchen to Chloe’s room.

There she grabbed her cellphone and handbag and then left the building to her bakery without notifying Lilian.

Lilian struggled with preparing the meal herself and packaging it. She left her room and got dressed. This time, she’s taking the meal herself.

She boarded a cab that drove her to the company and she went straight to Xavier’s office.

The doorbell rang and Xavier ordered her in. Sighting Lilian with a package of food baffled him, she wasn’t expecting her either.

“Why are you shocked? Don’t I have the right to visit my darling in his office again?” She queried, placing the meal on his table, and then got seated too.

“I prepared the meal myself, while Vanessa left for her bakery.” She uttered.

He shook his head, something is wrong somewhere. This is not the Lilian that hasn’t cared about his welfare all this while. This isn’t the lady that has always denied his touch all night because of the quarrels.

“But you were still asleep when I left, you never cared to know how I’m faring.” He stated.

She got on her feet wrapping her arms around his neck. “I’m so sorry for that, I overslept and I woke up to find your lying position empty, and then Vanessa was busy in the kitchen.”

Her fingers ran through his hair, which she hasn’t done for a while now.

Xavier was so convinced that everything isn’t okay, he believed that Lilian must have acted rude to Vanessa and she left.

“Wait, I’ll confirm from Vanessa first.” He remarked and grabbed his cellphone.

Her facial expression changed instantly. “What’s so special about that lady, Xavier… that you always look down on me because of her?”

She couldn’t get a reply to the question, Xavier turned deaf while scrolling through his contact list.

Finally, he found her contact and dialed her line.

“Miss Vanessa, I pleaded with you to get my lunch and you acceded, why to hand it over to Lilian afterward?” He questioned Vanessa through the phone.

She coughed slightly. “I’m so sorry Mr. Xavier, but it wasn’t intentional. Honestly, I was preparing the noodles but Lilian pushed me out of the kitchen. To avoid such arguments, I had to leave your home.”

Xavier gasped, he had known it. Lilian will never let the innocent lady be, yet she won’t play her role.

“It’s okay then, you have to go back to that house, prepare my noodles and get them for me right here in my office… I’m patiently waiting for your presence.” He ordered. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

Lilian widened her eyes in great shock, her mouth agape while staring at Xavier.

“Ok then, I’ll do that.” She acceded and hung up the call.

Lilian tapped Xavier to get his attention. “After the time I spent preparing this meal for you, you rejected it and insisted on eating Vanessa huh?”

He glared at her. “You turn me down each time I need you, several times you starve my children because of your laziness to prepare a meal for them. And here you are claiming to be caring because your fellow woman is handling your responsibilities.”

She clenched her teeth out of annoyance. “Tell me, Xavier, what’s binding you with that lady to the extent you keep choosing her over me? You aren’t the Xavier that I know since you employed her.”

“Just like you aren’t the Lilian that I’ve known all this while. I’ve told you several times never to step on my order, once I place my commands, don’t dare reverse it.”

He got seated on his seat while Lilian stood glaring at him.

Minutes elapsed yet Xavier couldn’t say a word to her again, she packaged the meal again and left his office.

Immediately after the call from Xavier ended, she left back to his home. The doors aren’t locked since there are securities securing the environment and everything in it.

She moved straight to the kitchen to get the meal prepared, while the reason Xavier rejected the first prepared by Lilian kept bothering her.

She wouldn’t want to have issues with Lilian again because of him, and that’s why she didn’t question when Lilian pushed her away.

Before Lilian was back home, she had already left the home to Xavier’s company as directed.

Lilian had wished to get Vanessa around once she was back, but couldn’t get her anymore.

Vanessa arrived at the company and was directed to Xavier’s office, she rang the doorbell and was ordered in.

A young man stepped in too after her approaching Xavier with a file. When he was about to leave, he stared at Nessa for a long time until Xavier noticed that he was admiring her.

He kept mute, but within him, the stares from his manager were something else. He wasn’t comfortable with it but couldn’t get the reason he felt that way.

Vanessa handed him the meal and he unwrapped it immediately.

“Did Lilian yell at you?” He asked.

She shook her head. “No, I didn’t meet her though.”

Vanessa watched him gobble on the meal, she thought of how hungry he felt.

“Thank you so much for your benevolence, Miss Vanessa.” He drew her attention away from her cellphone.

She lifted her face and smiled at him, his stares were something else this time.
