Chapter 35 I will be by your side for the rest of my life.
The odd question brought silence to the guests.
Two years of entanglement, three years of separation, and six months of knowing each other.
Susan pinched him hard around the waist and whispered, “I’m going to regret it.”
“Regret is too late.” Chandler’s face unchanged, he wrapped her into his arms and whispered.
It was their first wedding, and he took a box out of his pocket, inside which were two pairs of rings, so white they glowed, so blindingly white.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Susan took one look at them and her eyes darkened abruptly.
“Still angry?” He took her hand up and put the rings on her.
Susan shook her head and simply said, “I just suddenly feel that everything is too hurried …”
“There’s no such thing as being in a hurry.” He suddenly knelt down on one knee, looked up at Susan in front of him, and whispered, “I will be by your side for the rest of your life for decades.”
“Wow.” She looked at the ring on her hand, her head couldn’t help but think of that incident again, and then looked at Chandler who was still kneeling on the ground, she still endured it.
Once the ceremony was over, she changed into a long dress and came out, while Alex came over in a best man’s outfit.
“I’m leaving the country tomorrow.”
Susan held up her glass and smiled, “Then I wish you well in advance.”
He frowned and blushed a little bitterly, but then said with a proper smile, “It’s not easy to get along, so live well in the future.”
“That’s not like something you would say.” She squinted her eyes and smiled. But Alex still has the same face.
Susan, however, was not in a hurry and just said, “Do you know what happened to the wicked queen in Snow White?”
“She was made to wear the branded red dancing shoes and kept dancing for the rest of her life,” Alex said truthfully.
Susan was a little disappointed, “Yes, unfortunately, this is not a fairy tale world. My mother was set up to commit suicide. To be fair, my father’s death by my stepmother was his own fault.”
Alex looked at her with an odd expression on his face.
“I remembered something from my childhood the other day …” she paused for a moment and then added: “She was still pregnant with my brother when she died. It just hadn’t been a week before that woman became my stepmother.”
Alex pursed his lips and there was silence between the two for a while. Susan reorganized herself and then looked at him with a smile.
“Drink a bit more tonight, you won’t be able to drink my wedding wine later.”
He pulled a smile and coped, ” Have less.”
The cups clinked and made a crisp sound.
His eyes were like stardust, brilliant and bright.
Susan opened her arms and suddenly held him in her arms. Alex was stunned for a moment, not reacting.
“Thank you, always pull me through when I’m at my most woeful.” Her eyes were slightly sore and she choked up.
Alex did not speak again until she had eased down and the two let go.
Chandler saw them like this and was slightly upset. He came back with the glass and forced it between them.
Alex, with a blank face, said, ” Good luck with the baby.”
“Thank you.” He looked odd, but no one would care.
Alex glanced at him, looked at Susan behind him, and made another excuse to leave.
Chandler pulled a face and did not say anything else.
Susan saw his sullen look and held a smile but did not say anything.
The party ended and the two of them returned to the hotel with tired bodies. Susan ran to the room as soon as she entered and locked the door tightly.
Chandler looked at the door and it took a long time for it to open.
Susan came out, her cheeks flushed and her eyes not daring to meet his.
She was dressed in a black low-cut nightgown, her long hair spreading over her shoulders. The nightgown was still lace and sheer, only deepening in color in important areas.
“Does … that look good?” She squirmed and skimmed her head, and her hands clutched the hem of her skirt.
Chandler did not make a sound as he stood up and tucked her hair back.
“Why are you dressed like that all of a sudden?” He wondered up.
Susan tensed, “Because I want to surprise you.”
“That would be nice.” He took the dress off and draped it over her, while then examining her carefully, “You in your wedding dress is the biggest surprise given to me.”
Susan couldn’t help but blush and lowered her head shyly.
He also obediently took her in his arms and said, “You just hugged Alex too tightly and too long.”
Susan paused, buried her face in his chest, and explained in a muffled voice, “He’s leaving in a few days and won’t be back.”
“Well.” Chandler fell silent, and then repeated, “But he’s still been holding you a little too long.”
Susan was speechless by his words, and finally could only ask in a muffled voice, “What do you want me to do to make up for it?”
“Just don’t pass out tonight.” He laughed and carried her up and headed for the room.
