Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 168

Kala POV

Learning that Hector was a human hybrid was quite the shock. He didn't seem to be anything but pure

wolf to me.

There was nothing hybrid about his eyes in the kitchen ast night. He was a complete predator. The highest of his food chain.

I could feel him watching me at breakfast as I laughed at Jude's numerous jokes. His gaze left a burning sensation across my skin.

I catch him a few times and not once did he blink away, he didn't pretend he wasn't looking. His confident. eyes hold my gaze and I can sense the challenge within them, the hunger.

After breakfast, we retire to the sitting room where Edmund provides a last handover with Hector but I have the feg it is more a formality.

His eyes

remain on me as I sit on the other side of the sitting room, my wolf daring me to give him something to really glare at

Wearing leggings I could only use my tight vest to my disposal. Very discreetly I run my thumb over the swollen top of my breast before letting it trail towards my inner cleavage, then replacing it with my fingers, to cup my upper breast. His eyes watch my finger's movements, his mouth opening slightly.

I can hear Edmund talking but it is drowned out by the beating of my heart that I can feel in my ears. Until I hear him mention the Nightshade Reformed pack, which wakes me up out of my own seductive game.

My own interest in their conversation piqued when more warriors were mentioned for the Nightshade Reformed pack.

Why would they need more warriors.

Was Alora in trouble...

"Is there a problem at the Nightshade Reformed pack then?" I asked Edmund who stopped speaking, looking between Hector and me uncomfortably.

"It's just a precaution...." He vaguely answered and my wolf instantly knew they were hiding something.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.

"Hector?" I look to him daring him to be just as vague.

"It would seem the Alpha of the Shadow Rock pack is keen to invade the borders."

Why am I only just hearing of this.

If Alora, Ezra and the pack were under threat, I needed to be with them. Yet Hector doesn't seem concerned, he's acting as if this isn't the first time. Because it wasn't....

That's why he left the warriors behind, and insisted on Ezra remaining with Alora.

"For how long have they been Invading the borders?" I ask annoyance clear in my tone.

"Long enough.

"Have I been involved with the defending of the borders?" I try to search my brain for anything....a flashback...any sign of remembering my life before the accident.

"You could say that." He sighs out, his answer cryptic.

"What does that mean?"

n of the

"The alpha in discussion, you have a long standing...grievance with him regarding the ownership pack lands.

Beckett founded the pack on the lands that the local packs claimed were contested lands, sacred lands. You managed to turn most of them around into a peace treaty...but Alpha Marc..." "Why am + only just hearing of this?" I roar out, demanding to know.

"I wasn't sure if you could handle..."

"Bullshit...you just want to control my pack just like you want to control me."

"Watch your tongue." He growls out at me.

"If my pack is in danger I need to be there.."

"Your pack is in danger with or without you there Kaia. I made the decision to take you away from the danger..

"Exactly, you took that decision....you commanded me to leave. I can't even leave this pack without your consent." My body is tensing as I feel my muscles tightened. "Kaia calm down."

"Is that another command?" I seethe out at him, before 1 stand up and go to walk past him. He grips my arm from his seat, stopping me from moving any further. "Where are you going?"

""I need air, I need some space."
