Chapter 137
Chapter 0137 Kala POV
"Watch me!" My mind refuses to so easily forget his parting words. In fact, it's all I can think about as Alora and I sit on the cliff tops, letting the hours pass before she needs to go to the medical centre for her pre-op assessment. I was worried, I was scared.
I had only just found Alora, now I had to prepare myself that she would leave us before she was meant to.
I was worried she would be too weak for the surgery, and my Father too old to be a kidney down for the rest of his life. I know that she didn't have long as it was, but tampering with the Moon Goddess' plan for us all, left that feg of dread festering the insides of my body.
I couldn't shake that anxiety, that doom that was trying to tell me, to warn me.
"Kaia?" "Hmm?"
"What do you think she was like?" Alora and I were now at the comfort stage of being in each other's company but without having to talk to fill the gaps of silence. We were comfortable just being in each other's company. How far we had come. I knew instingively, that she was referring to Mother.
"Father found it hard to talk about her, his loss very much narrated my childhood years. But on the occasion he did speak of her, he would say she was caring, confident but not arrogant and a rare beauty. I smile thinking of Mother as I gazed out on the gentle moving
waves.
"I wonder what she thought about having twins.." Alora wonders and it's a similar thought I have had recently.
Rightly or wrongly Father didn't tell me I had a twin, a twin that died at birth. He was just protecting me, protecting himself.
How strong he had been, how every milestone of my life he must have thought of the other...of how Alora never got to do the same. How Mother missed out on watching me, watching us both grow.
"Kaia?" I can feel her own anxiety through the twin bond, a bond that was going from strength to strength.
"She would have loved having twins, I'm sure of it." I smile.
"I can back out of this, I can refuse..."
"No Alora, Father is right. It's the right thing to do." After Hector left I tried one last time to plead with Father for me to give the kidney instead but his words were so headstrong, so decided on himself, I just knew their was no talking him out of it. When Father has his mind set on something, that's it. "Kala?" A male voice calls out to me from behind, interrupting our joint solitude. His eyes widening and his voice gasping as he sees both us females together
"Ezra." I beam out as he closes the distance between us.
I was now sitting outside the doctor's room, Ezra sat next to me, as Alora underwent her pre-op assessment. Father was due at the medical centre and as long as Alora's pre-op went well, they would both be in theatre within a few hours.
That level of dread still continuing to grow within me however and I was struggling to even talk. I could feel how pale my face was, I didn't need a mirror to tell me I was ghostly with concern.
"Luna?" A pack member pushes on my mind-link and as soon as I grant him access, I identfity him as one of the gates guards.
"Yes?"NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
"I can't get hold of Alpha. Were we expecting an alpha visit today?"
"An alpha?" I query, trying to think of a prearranged visit. It could very well be, I know Samson was reaching out to more packs when he was here.
"Yes Luna, demanding entry."
"Ezra, has Hector contacted you to say he was on his way back?" I couldn't think of any alpha appointment today, unless Hector and Jude had returned earlier than expected. Security levels remain high, they wouldn't be given free movement at the gate. They would still need access granted.
"No why?"
"The guard on the gate is saying an alpha is demanding entry."
"Never mind Luna, Alpha Beckett has now granted access." The guard's voice tries to reassure me through the mind-link, but I feel anything but reassured.
The pack had always been fast paced, but events in recent weeks had increased the busyness of the pack and I was starting to lose track of things. Had I asked a local alpha to attend the pack?
"What pack is the Alpha from?" I push back on the mindlink to the guard, expecting to hear a local pack being named,
"Says he's from the Amber Desert pack, wherever that is!" The guard responds instantly before continuing. "The Alpha request he be escorted to the alpha house)
"Is he alone?" I stand so abruptly I knock the chair over
"Kaia?" Ezra reacts to my sudden harsh movement.
"He has his beta with him."
"Kaia?" Ezra's hand touches my shoulder.
"He's here.." I gasp out.
""Who's here?"
"Than... Than is here."
