Chapter 135
Kaia POV
I'm angry at everyone.
At Father, for him so easily putting his life on the line, I get it, she was his daughter and he spent years thinking she was dead. He wanted to show her what a father's love is, that he can protect her...keep her safe. But that doesn't stop the anger rising in the pit of my stomach, anger hiding my true fegs... intense worry.
Even Alora, she said she didn't want this, that she wouldn't agree. That it would make no difference now, so why put Father's life at risk. Because that's what was going to happen, he isn't strong enough for this. Which leaves the question....me.
I can feel him following me up the stairs, most of my anger aimed at him. I wanted to shake him to see sense.
scream at him,
t least.
He of all people should have refused this surgery, I thought I could rely on that at "Kaia?" Hector calls out to me as I open my bedroom door wanting solitude. I was better alone when angry, to work through my thoughts.
Just as I slam the door shut, his hand prevents me from doing so.
"What the hell was that?" I growl out to him as he pushes the door open and he steps past me into my bedroom.
"Get out!" I seethe at Hector which earns a raised eyebrow from him.
He finally moves, listening to me, and I breathe a sigh of relief thinking he is leaving when he doesn't, he moves to the side of my bed, inspecting my bedside table. Inspecting the picture of my mother. Realising he wouldn't be leaving any time soon, I close the door behind is, moving myself towards my window.
A chuckle escapes him when I open the window, his scent was already overly perfuming the room. My eyes glare daggers at him, wondering what he found so amusing.
"She can't die Kaia you must see that.." His humour vanishes when my expression remains murderous. His hands gently placing my treasured photo frame back down, before he moves closer to me.
"Of course I know that Hector, she is my sister after all. But I at least expected you to be against this.." "You think I want her to be cut open?"
"Then do something..." I growl at him, my hands tearing at my hair.
Why was everyone only saying words but not taking any action.
"Do what?"Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
"Stop it, stop them from making this bad mistake. I'll do it...I'll give my kidney instead!"
""Not a chance!" He snarls at me.
"I can't lose my Father Hector...
"And I can't lose what is mine."
"Exactly, but you will, she isn't strong enough for an operation.."
"Kaia..."
Why was he so calm about this, why wasn't he marching downstairs and threatening to remove her from this pack.
"Hector, you need to protect your mate..."
"But she's not my only mate, is she?"
His words run my blood cold. I can feel my heart stop beating and my lungs freeze from his words.
He knew...
If I didn't know any better I would say someone had stood over my grave. The very sensation leaving me feg anything but alive. Like a walking corpse.
I step back, reaching out to the window needing some kind of sensory stimulation to bring myself back to the land of the living. My hands lean backwards, using the windowsill for support, my back now pressed up against the glass pane.
He must sense my unease, my shock as he moves now, blocking my only escape.
"Kaia..." His purring voice calls out to me.
"Don't.."
"Why didn't you tell me....
"Tell you what...that not only did I have a mate bond with my sister's mate, who is my legal husband...but that you...who from the moment I met has done everything in your power to try and win her back, to seek revenge on Than for taking her...was also my mate. That I was also linked to you." I shout, my voice crackling under the strain of the speed I am using to finally get my anguish out.
"I was blinded by revenge...but had you of told me, I would have listened."
"Don't insult my intelligence Hector!" In no way do I believe he would have felt the bond between us, even if I had told him outright. His actions were on the point of obsessive in getting Alora from Than
"I've done wrong by you, I know I have Kaia but believe me when I say I am going to make amends. I am going to be the mate you deserve." He takes steps towards me, his fingers wanting to touch me as they reach out.
"And what makes you think I would want you after everything?" I spit out, my anger now at the point of being out of control.
"I don't expect you to want me Kala, not after what I have done. How I have behaved. But I will do right by you and I will destroy any threat that stands in your way." His hand drops at his words.
From where I am standing, you are the only threat to me, to my family. I want you gone, I don't care what you think you need to do, how you need to make your own inner being cleaner..
My anger is at boiling point, my wolf warning me not to take things too far, not to do something she thinks
ww
is stupid, that she thinks we would later regret.
But there is no coming back is there, I can't spend my life loving somebody who will never love me.
I'm angry at having not known him first, in a way for being the first born, for not being adopted and living in his pack, with him.
Where I would have told his brother no, and accepted him instead. I would have been the one to do that. It should have been me.
I take a shaky breath in, my wolf battling me internally as she realises what I am about to do.
"I...Kaia Glace of the Nightshade Reformed pack..."
"Don't you dare!" His growl is venomous as he moves with such speed, closing the distance between us and covering his hand over my mouth.
The roar of the notorious Dark Phantom Alpha. Tingles dance upon my lips, his smooth skin so close to my teeth, I could just bite him and finish my words.
"What is going on?" Jude bursts into my room, Alora standing next to him.
Hector's eyes remain on me, his hand still held across my lips. Not once does his eyes waiver, not once do they flicker to her. They remain locked on me, and for a moment...a fleeting moment my wolf lets me hope...lets me believe that we could be. She's begging for me not to do this. Not to make a mistake I can't come back from. "Hector?" Jude takes a further step in the room, his eyes looking at his friend cautiously, his own alpha aura starting to swirl around the room.
"We are going to Shadow Rock pack. he has attacked my mate's pack and will not be given another chance." His hand surprisingly moves slowly from my lips, his thumb pulling at my lower lip.
"You are mine Kaia, from the moment I found you in the coffee shop, and I yours. I will make amends... watch me!"
