Denied by Destiny: Trapped in the Shadows of the Mate Bond

Chapter 123

Hector POV

"They can do as they please...but ideally they will leave as they came." Kaia seethes at our fur forms, before spinning in her nakedness and walking away.

I didn't expect her to bring out the welcome parade but at least a warm smile at my arrival, at our saving their pack members...we were friends after all. Weren't we?

I watch her walk away into the distance, the blonde male that had fought along side her stepping up to us.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

"I'm not really sure what just happened but I know the Alpha will want to see you...follow me." He sighs out, gesturing for us to follow.

We shift into human form and it doesn't take long for someone to run up to our new tour guide handing over clothes for us to use.

We continue to walk until we start to descent upon a large white mansion surrounded by cypress trees, it was cleverly designed to match the coastal scenery. Is this where Kala had been all along...

As soon as I see him exit the grand front doors, making his way over to us I remember him instantly. How could I have forgotten him...he had a limp to his walk and the scar across his eye was still prominent. "Alpha Hector...it's great to see you again!" He extends his hand out to me, shaking it with enthusiasm. He clearly remembered me.

"Alpha Beckett, I'm glad to see you finally made a new pack for yourself."

"It's getting there, I hear we have you both to thank for winning the battle. I hope you haven't been injured." "This is Jude, he is an alpha of a neighbouring pack of mine. No, no injuries."

"Pleasure. You are welcome to come inside and freshen up but I'm not in the position to entertain right now, as you can imagine."

"Of course, we will come in... I was keen to catch up with Kala actually...." My eyes dart towards the door, was she watching from inside.

"With Kaia?" His eyes narrow at me for mentioning Kaia's name to him.

"Yes, she stayed with me for a while, it would be nice to say hello properly." I narrow my eyes back, I'm assuring she doesn't know of his talks with Alpha Marc about her being used as a bargaining tool. "Then we will be on our way." Jude adds with a diplomatic smile, elbowing me in the side. It's all for show, he like me had no intention of being on our way any time soon, but he was right....I need to come across as unthreatening to learn more of this new pack and how it effects Kaia.

course, I'm sure she would be happy to be reacquainted. She is the acting luna, my daughter has been Instrumental in our pack's cause.

"Instrumental?" Jude questions as we follow Beckett into the alpha house.

"Yes, she's been working hard for peace agreements with local packs...unfortunately not all packs being as open minded, as the attack confirms. I will ask a staff member to show you to the guest rooms, you

are welcome to freshen up and stay for a meal but then we must continue with our efforts for securing" the borders."

He had only welcomed us into his home and he was already trying to get rid of us.

"We would be happy to help, while we are here.."

"Very generous, how did you stumble upon our pack?"

"We were at the Shadow Rock pack when...." That's when I smell it, sweet mangoes...

I barge past Beckett in the hallway, following her scent when I find her in the kitchen, surrounded by children

"Alora?" I gasp out to her, as children fight for her attention.

"Hello Hector!" She doesn't seem as shocked to see me as I am to see her.

"You know each other?" Beckett asks baffled as he stares at Alora, who is now refusing to meet Beckett's gaze.

"It's a long story." She nervously chuckles out as she picks a child up on to her hip, planting a small kiss on the little boy's head.

"Where is your sister?" Beckett glances around the kitchen before looking back at Alora.

Sister, so I was right. But what had happened for them not to be raised together...

"She's gone to the hospital..."

"Damn it, she needs to be checked out herself."

"She's fine, I'll check on her myself later." A voice states in a matter of fact tone behind me. "Thank you Samson."

I had forgotten of the blonde male that had escorted us from the battle field to the alpha house.

He was an arrogant little shit, I could tell that already.. he was leaning against the kitchen door frame with his arms crossed watching Jude and I intently.

"Samson?" Jude nods to him, a small greeting now that we know his name.

"Where are my manners, Alpha Hector, Alpha Jude, this is Samson... he is my Beta

His eyes gaze upon me, a small level of warning in his eyes, he didn't trust me..it was common for beta's to be wary of visitors whilst the alpha played the happy host character. But I was getting a vibe off him, a kind of...don't step on my turf vibe.

"Samson, can you check on my daughter. She's blocking me out, you know what she is like, it will be hours before she looks at her own wounds."

"Yes Alpha, I know exactly what she is like." He smirks towards me before pushing off the door frame and leaving
