Chapter three
I don't know how long they've been in the forest but it felt like hours. I did try to go into the forest but chicken out the last minute.
It's like as soon as I step a foot on their ground, I coward and walked back to the stump. Meanwhile, Ramose's been watching me trying to get myself into the forest. We really didn't say anything after the our little talk.
We agreed to not talk about me not being able to enter the forest. He said he'll talk about it with his friends too.
"Oh my god! How long do they need to take to get the person?"
"Long. Vamps are hard to get."
"I see."
I stood up and walked towards the forest. Stopping at the edge of the forest, I gazed beyond. Turning on my head, I faced Ramose crossing my arms across my chest.
"Talked to me, I'm bored."
Throwing his hood over his head, he stepped out from the shade. Glancing at me he stopped dead panned. I'd be lying if I didn't say that he went paler, than usual. I don't know how that's possible.
"What?"
"Harper, move away from the forest slowly."
"Why?"
"Just do it."
He fixed on something behind me. I turned slightly still fixed on him. Finally turning around I found nothing.
I don't know where my confidence came from but I stepped into the forest. Fear washed over me quickly getting out of the forest. I stumbled onto the pathway walking back to my stump.
Sitting on it I stared Ramose down. He gave me the face of saying, 'what.'
I looked away immediately.
It still felt awhile since they've gone to get the person. In the corner of my eye, Ramose his back in the shadows looking the opposite way, in deep thinking I assume.
Silence roamed us.
Sitting very still, I felt skeleton like hands creep on me. "Quit it Ramose."
The fingers came up to my mouth while the other fingers wrap around my waste. I was about to tell Ramose off when I look to the right side of me and notice he's standing there looking into the distance.
When it finally hit me, it wasn't someone I recognize. My mind turned when the skeleton like hands grasped onto me and yanked me. I couldn't comprehend what happened but the next thing I knew is I'm in the forest, deep in.
I squirmed around in the grasp of a vampire. It pushed me to the ground hard I swore I heard my ribs crack. It came into my view. If I wasn't being attacked or if this vamp wasn't a vamp, I'd say he's handsome. Slicked back hair with smooth skin.
He lowered down onto all fours with me underneath. Lowering his head he sniffs my neck giving a sigh.
"You smell delicious."
Smirking, he showed his fangs licking his lips. I could see the hunger in his eyes as it changed from polish gold, to blood red in less than a second.
"Now I'll have fun with you."
He leaned down and licked the spot on my throat, his teeth hovering over my flesh. Just as he was about to bite me, something fast bumped into him. I saw them roll until the vamp landed at the bottom.
I scooted away as far as I could.
"Why were you going to bite her?"
"Cause she's on our land."
"No, I saw you steal her. Now answer the question?"
I say frozen in fear shaking all over. "Because I'm hungry."
The other guy grabbed his head ready to yank it off. "Any last words?"
I got up ready to run when his answer hit me.
"There will be war sometime this year. No one is safe, not even us."This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
"That's insane!"
I started running not know what will happen to the vamp or that guy. I kept on running in one direction when I bumped into something hard. Holding my head as I glance up to see Ramose there. I've never been so glad to see him, but I'm not telling him that.
"Are you okay? Did he bite you?"
I shake my head. "Last time I've checked, your not my father."
"Well sorry but a vamp just took you ready to bite when one of my guys went to do the job."
"Job."
He nodded.
"Why didn't you do it?"
"Enemies."
"So what? You watched from afar?"
"I like a good show. But no. He just so happened to show up."
"I'm going, see you at school."
I left him but he caught up to me. I sighed as we headed back. As we got closer, I noticed the similar blonde hair in the distance. I ran up behind him jumping on his back when he wasn't watching. He tense up when he noticed me.
"Sarah. Oh my God are you okay, are you hurt, do you need help?"
"I'm okay."
"The hell happened Ramose?"
"First off, she was taken by the other vamp but our guys got her, so she's fine. And second, when I asked her that she told me to eff off."
Sabe gave me a bear hug squeezing me. "I'm just glad your okay."
"I'm okay, dad." I exaggerated. We burst into laughter except for Ramose, not surprised.
We descended off back to school agreed to not talk about what happened with me and the vamp. Clearly everyone else agreed in the vamp group cause they hated them so it was easy. Now it all depends on me freaking out in the forest. I do hope they didn't tell.
We stayed with our groups of race while the vamps took care of that vamp, that's uncharged if the drinks. In our conversation, we heard the argument going on over there ahead of us.
I didn't bother with their business. Actually, all I can think of is that guy saying there'd be war this year.
What did he mean by that?
War?
I decided not to not tell anyone about this, I don't want them freaking out. That's the last thing I need.
Once we got to the school, we entered the gym. The teachers are glad we didn't die from anything.
"Oh good, you are free to go do whatever you want. Thanks for joining in the Chase," the Vice Principle said with her squeaky voice. All of us left the school. I hopped in the passenger seat of Sabe's car.
"So tell me, what did I miss and why it took you so long to get the person?"
Lennix explained that they waited in the middle of the forest for the guy. They've called out to the guy. It took a bit of him to respond so Katherine 'sacrificed' herself by cutting a little cut on her arm to draw the vamp in. That they slowly walked back towards the three vamps. He started attacking them it they managed to get away.
According to them, Keir Vance held him down until he managed to escape his grasp. The three vamps chased him down. They tried to catch up to them but they managed to fall behind. Eventually, they did catch up to them and brought him back. That's when Ramose and I weren't there.
"We didn't know where you two went, so we stayed here in case you came back. Soon you guys came back bickering at each other," Kathrine explained.
"I'm not trusting that guy. I never had and never did. I did trust the other guys to not let us get harmed. But I'll never over my dead body trust him."
"I hear ya," I say.
I didn't trust him either. He had one job and that was to watch me, but he failed.
"I never trusted them to begin with, but glad that's over," Lauren said. I agree with her.
"Anyways, it happened and it's over now. Don't worry about it peeps," Lennix answered.

As soon as I walked through the door, it was a mistake. My parents are arguing again in the kitchen.
"No Jeff. You are not teaching her!"
Of course, they're fighting if I should become a vampire hunter with my father.
"It's for good measure. She can protect herself from vampires this way!"
"No, I'm not letting my daughter fight monsters!"
"Your daughter, she's my daughter too!"
They didn't hear me come in. Which means I can surprise them by walking in the kitchen. They still didn't notice me so I leaned against the frame to the kitchen as they bickered away.
"She's not doing it!"
"She will be and that's the end of this conversation!"
I could see my mom have tears in her eyes.
"Look Carol, she will be joining the vampire hunters whether you like it or not. I want her to be protected in case anything happens. I don't want her bitten."
They still haven't acknowledged me yet.
"I just don't want her to be killed in the gang, or anything for that matter."
"I know, it's just-" my dad cuts himself off when he sees me standing there, watching the whole show. My mother finally glances over to where I am and pulls herself together.
"Hey honey. How's the Chase?" My mom asks me like nothing happened and they were having big a normal conversation.
"It was good."
"That's good." My father says.
It was awkward silence before my father spoke up. "You haven't heard anything, have you?"
"Yeah, actually. I've heard everything. What about me, haven't you thought of my opinion if I wanted to be a hunter or not?"
I stared down my dad as he gave me a glare.
"How do you think I feel about this whole situation?"
I let my statement hang over him so it sinks in. "Sure I could use the protection, but I don't want to be in the hunter group. It's too much. I've got plans for my future and it certainly doesn't have being a hunter in it."
"You are being a vampire hunter and that's final, for both of you. We're done with the topic."
My father stormed out of the kitchen.
My mother sat on the dining room chair and started bawling. She knew she lost that fight. Without my consent, I'll become a vampire hunter.
