Deadly Storm

Chapter nine

Sarah's POV

I walked in when my parents are arguing again. I sigh while rolling my eyes. They are at it again.

I place the bag down on the couch and walked into the kitchen where they bicker at each others throats.

"I'm home!" I shout over their shouting. I shut them up and they stared at me with fake smiles.

"Hey sweetie, how's your walk? Did you use the spray I gave you?"

"No and it was good."

"That's good. There's left over dinner in the fridge," my mom said pointing to the fridge.

I nod.

I left them to argue and I went upstairs. Putting the spray in my drawer, I put everything away. Once I knew the clearing is all safe, I head downstairs for my dinner. My dad is probably in his office while mom is watching tv in the living room.

I sneak into the kitchen to microwave my dinner. Once that's finished, I head back upstairs with my food. I boot up my laptop to check my emails.

I only got one.

From Blade Ramose.

How the hell did he get my email? Curiosity got the best of me so I checked why he emailed me.

Where would you like to do the project. I don't know about you but I would like to get this assignment done.

I emailed him back sure when and what time. I also said that he needs to fix that kid of his. She was creeping me out.

I sent the email and in the meantime watched on YouTube while I ate my dinner.

After, I set the plate aside in my bedside and continued the video. Once the video finished, I check the email.

He did reply.

She does not need fixing. Sorry if she stared you down. Sapphire's never seen humans in three and a half years. For her age that's a long time. Anyways, whatever works for you. I'm free all the time, technically.

I wrote back.

What about tomorrow at 4:30 at Cooperstown Diner?

I sent the email. Not long after he responded. Does this guy just sit at his computer all day and wait for a response or what?

Sure, I'll meet you there. Make sure you don't run into any more vamps either. Your lucky you made it out alive without Sapphire or I taking our dinner.

I shook my head smiling at his response.

Did I just smile at his response? He's not even that funny. Why did I do that?

I shook it off taking my plate down to the dishwasher.

I took a quick shower before heading off to sleep for the night.

After school I let Sabe drop me off at home, gathered the things I need. I said hi to my parents, then drove to the diner when it's time.

I found a seat since I'm the first. I sit down and order my lunch. Not long after, Ramose walks in with a bottle- assuming blood is filled- spots me and sits across from me.

"Hello, Ramose."

"Harper."

"Well . . . Let's get started."

He pulled out the paper that we started. He wrote the definitions and the key terms while I searched up some pics to draw. He got the writing down fast and started outlining it in sharpie.

My meal came at some point and started eating it.

"You're eating dinner here?"This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

"I'm hungry. I haven't eaten since lunch, and that was hardly anything."

"Uh-huh."

"You can't go wrong with a hungry girl. Especially a hangry one."

"Okay."

I started drawing the images to go with the terms. I could feel Ramose staring me down. I glance up from my work to see Ramose admiring my drawings. He took a sip of his blood before glancing at me.

We held gazes. His golden eyes shine in the light that glimmer in the old building. I never notice how spot on his nose is, dark brown hair on fleek, especially his bangs.

He flickered away and my gaze went back to my work.

"You know, your a wonderful drawer."

"Thanks."

I continued to draw while Ramose watched me. Kind of creepy, I know.

"Shouldn't you be tracing the words?" I ask.

"I should. But I want to leave you some space for drawing."

"Alright."

I continued to draw while I finish my dinner. I hand over the project to Ramose. He looked over it before stuffing it in his pocket.

He looked back, folding his arms on the table. I copied his actions pushing the plate to the side away from me. We stared in each others eyes for a while until the waiter came to pick up my plate.

"Whatcha starring at?" I ask.

He shook his head still having the tension between us. I started getting uneasy but his eyes set a trance for me. He blink and broke his trance on me.

"Bla- Ramose?"

"Did you almost call me by my first name, Harper?"

"N-no." Why the hell did I stutter! I mentally facepalm myself.

"So you didn't admit. Why did you stutter then?" He smirked while raising an eye brow.

I held a stern face. "Shut up."

I look down at my hands. I didn't want to admit that I stuttered and almost called him by his first name. "Don't mention this," I deadpan.

He chuckled and nodded his head. I raise my head to look at him. Ramose took a sip of blood and I scrunched my face in disgust.

"What?"

"Your drinking blood. It's gross."

"It's delicious."

"Easy for you to say. I'm mortal. It taste like iron."

"Hmm." He took another sip.

"What does it taste like?"

"Hmm, like blood."

Oh my god. Just answer the question! "Ok," I mumbled.

"So . . . Whatcha doing for Halloween?" He asked.

"I don't know."

"You have to do something."

"I know, whatcha doing for Halloween?"

"I'm going start hunting for dinner. A lot of teen like to 'show off' and come into our land and try to escape from us. Only two people made it out."

"Wow, surprised."

"Yeah. The rest . . . Well, the rest became dinner."

"What do you do with the people?"

"We ship then off to the groups who don't have a lot of vamps. They come to our house and take them. We get our dinner."

"What about them? Don't they get the blood?

"They have a lot of blood. They just don't have a lot of people where they live. A lot of blood gets shipped there so they have bags and bags of blood."

"Oh," I was surprise by this.

He nodded taking another sip.

"Anyways, if we are done here, imma get going since I've got to get ready for Halloween. I'll finish this. Then I'll send it to you to put glam the poster."

"Glam?"

"Or whatever you women do."

"Okay."

We've got up and left. I saw Ramose going the opposite way as I am.

Driving home, I glance at the dashboard seeing quarter past six. We've been there for almost two hours!

I walk inside to a quiet home. "Hello?" No answer.

"Hello? I'm home!" I call out.

No answer. I walk into the kitchen for a drink when a note sat on the counter.

They were gone.

I'm alone again. Dad's probably out hunting with his gang or stranded vamps, and mom is looking for a home down in New York City.

I head upstairs to do the rest of my homework.
