Contract Marriage: My Sweet Bossy Wife

Chapter 122 You Are up too High for an Outcast like Me

Chapter 122 You Are up too High for an Outcast like Me

"I don’t believe it! This can’t be true!" Leila roared with her eyes fixed on Lorenzo, her voice trembling.

"Mr. Fletcher, you told me you broke up with Jessica. You told me you would come to my birthday party.

You told me you would give me a surprise!"

"I did come to your birthday party, and I did give you a surprise. But Jessica is my wife, and we never

broke up," Lorenzo said calmly and lightly.

Leila’s mind reeled when she heard Lorenzo’s words, her heart sliding into her throat.

So this was the "surprise" Lorenzo had referred to.

He had deceived her! He had lied to her! He had taken advantaged of her! He had framed her up!

Ironically, Kevin, Aminah and Leila had considered Travis as Jessica’s husband, assuming that

Lorenzo had dumped Jessica, but it turned out all this was Lorenzo and Jessica’s scheme!

Leila remembered clearly that she had spread rumors and spoken ill of Jessica at the party, which was

attended by so many people from high society, including Felix, Amara and Lucian.

Among them, there must be some people who knew the truth, and they must treat her like a fool.

Now Leila felt as if she was a clown!

She had compared herself to Jessica since childhood, no matter in terms of school record or daily life.

"Lorenzo, I still can’t believe it. Even if you like Jessica, how can the Fletcher family accept a woman of

a humble origin like her? You didn’t marry her at all, did you?"

Leila had become the biggest laughing stock across Ameriart now. Even if she didn’t want to accept the

truth, she had no other choice but to accept it.

"And you, bitch! Who are you to steal my man! I’ve been dreaming of marrying Lorenzo, and I’ll never NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.

allow him to marry you! You don’t deserve to be Mrs. Fletcher!" Leila snapped as she pointed her finger

at Jessica.

Jessica was totally aware how obsessed Leila had been with Lorenzo, and that Leila was a great

actress. Now Leila couldn’t take it anymore and showed her true colors in a fit of anger.

"Leila, I think Aminah and you know very clearly if I married Lorenzo. Back then, you learned that the

owner of the private estate was a cruel man and terminally ill, so you made me marry him instead. You

forced me to marry into the private estate.

"I’m not blaming you now. You could have married Lorenzo and become Mrs. Fletcher, but you gave

that opportunity away," Jessica said firmly as she looked at Leila with her twinkling eyes.

What did Jessica just say?

Leila’s body shook, and she drew back subconsciously, her brain in a buzz.

Jessica was right. Back then it was she herself and Aminah who had given up this opportunity. The two

of them forced Jessica to marry into the private estate in place of Leila.

Why!

It was so unfair!

Leila could have been Mrs. Fletcher. However, the opportunity just passed her by!

Leila’s eyes dulled, and the next moment, she went limp and fell backwards full length. Fortunately,

Aminah helped her up in time to prevent her from having a concussion.

"Mr. Fletcher, Jessica is no ordinary woman. She stayed in the outland for so long. If she hadn’t hooked

up with other men, she couldn’t have come back to Ameriart safe and sound. She must have slept with

countless men…"

Aminah tried to turn the tables. Even though Leila had no chance to marry Lorenzo now, she wouldn’t

allow Jessica to be his wife.

"Mrs. Armstrong, that’s pure slander. I know better than anyone here what kind of person my wife is.

Besides, I can be cruel and unreasonable when my wife is bullied. If you continue throwing mud at her,

I’ll sue you till the day you die."

Lorenzo stared sharply at Aminah and shut her up.

"Leila, it’ll be all right. You’ll be OK…"

Panic-stricken, Aminah didn’t dare to meet Lorenzo’s gaze at all, but calmed Leila down in a whisper.

"Mom, I…"

Finally, Leila opened her eyes and looked weakly at Aminah.

"Leila, you don’t have to thank anyone but your mother. If she hadn’t made me marry Lorenzo in place

of you, I wouldn’t have become Mrs. Fletcher at all. You gave me everything you’ve been dreaming of

with your own hands.

"I almost thought Aminah was my mother."

Jessica’s lips curved into a smirk as she spoke.

"That’s not true! Jessica, I know you’re trying to drive a wedge between me and my girl!" Her face pale,

Aminah said with trembling voice as she turned to Leila.

"Leila, you have to believe me. I’m your mother, and I want to give you all the best things in the world. If

I had known it was Lorenzo you would be marrying, of course I’d let you marry him!"

Quivering with indignation, Leila wasn’t listening to Aminah’s explanation at all. She shoved Aminah

away and looked back at her as if she was a stranger.

"Kevin, help me! I really didn’t know the truth… I…"

Seeing her favorite girl avoiding her like the plague, Aminah was thrown into the depths of despair.

Then she turned to Kevin and made an impassioned plea for help.

"That’s ridiculous! Shut up!"

Kevin wished he could strangle Aminah at this point.

Now he realized what was going on. It turned out Leila could have been Mrs. Fletcher, while he could

have been the father-in-law of the most powerful man in Ameriart.

However, Aminah, the stupid and smug woman, staged the incident and gave Leila’s brilliant future to

Jessica.

Therefore, Aminah was to blame for all this!

Who knew Jessica, who wasn’t related to him, would end up being Mrs. Fletcher!

It was all over now!

Aminah was distressed to see her daughter and husband being angry at her. She had just turned the

tide, but now everything reverted to their old patterns.

They couldn’t treat her like this!

It was already humiliating to be ignored by Kevin, but now, even Leila didn’t want to be with her. She

had no one to depend on in the future.

"Jessica, listen to me. I’m getting old and becoming a soft touch. I know I should have stuck to my guns

when that woman egged me on, but finally, it was I who couldn’t stand watching you suffer outside

home, and it was I who allowed you to come back. The one I think about the most is you."

Kevin said to Jessica persuasively, trying to change her opinion on him.

"Mr. Armstrong," Jessica beamed a smile and called coldly.

She actually called Kevin "Mr. Armstrong".

A shiver passed over Kevin’s body, his heart missing a beat.

"Mr. Armstrong, to tell you the truth, you have given all your love to Leila without reservation. Even

Juliette hasn’t got much love from you, let alone me. I already cut all ties with you when you believed

those rumors and sent me to the outland. Mr. Armstrong, you’re up too high for an outcast like me,"

Jessica said faintly.

"Jessica… You… I… That’s not the case… You have to believe me. There must be some

misunderstandings between us. We need to clear the air and move on…"

Kevin heard what Jessica said and his legs went limp.

"My princess, shall we go to Crystal Pavilion now?"

Lorenzo had no interest in the family drama and its lookers-on. He looked down at Jessica in his arms

and asked in a whisper.

"OK, let’s go." Jessica nodded.

Lorenzo and Jessica left the banquet hall under everyone’s gaze.

Hardly had they disappeared than the room burst into chatter.

"Wow, the truth is far from what I thought. So the Armstrong family planned to move in high-society

circles through Jessica. But who knew things would turn out this way?"

"Exactly. Jessica is way out of Leila’s league."

"Did you hear what Mr. Fletcher said? Those three people are delusional. Mr. Fletcher released those

sky lanterns for his wife, and Leila has nothing to do with it."

"We need to take in the situation here. Since Jessica has cut all ties with Kevin, we have to withdraw

our money from Kevin’s business as soon as possible, in case we rub Mr. Fletcher the wrong way."

"…"

The news set the crowd arguing heatedly among themselves.

Kevin, Aminah and Leila had now become the clowns in everyone’s eyes. Leila couldn’t take it

anymore, rushed out of the crowd and left the banquet hall.

Suddenly, she stopped.

"Happy birthday, Mrs. Fletcher!"

Lining up reverently on either side of the entrance in the lobby, the staff of the Claus Hotel bowed to

Jessica and Lorenzo the moment they showed up.
