He’s so protective

Chapter 43

A black car screeched to a halt in front of Colby’s mansion.

Brandon was the first to alight the car, Followed by Hannah who went straight to her room. Immediately she walked inside her room, took her bath, and walked out of the bathroom.

She applied her lotion and put on a trouser and a shirt. She decided to go pick the kids up from school by herself but just then the door burst open revealing Brandon.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

He had come to check on Hannah, he needed to make sure she was okay after what Jeff did to her.

“You should learn to knock before coming in. What if I was naked?” Hannah said as she rolled her eyes.

“But you are not naked,” Brandon said and sat on the couch in the room, Hannah scoffed and shook her head.

“How are you feeling? Does your neck still hurt?” Brandon asked in the most caring tone ever and Hannah raised her eyebrows wondering why he cares.

“I’m fine,” Hannah said reluctantly.

“I wonder how you got married to such a man in the past. Damn, Jeff is known for his hot temper ” Brandon said and Hannah turned to him at once.

Does he know he’s her ex-husband? Oh damn! And how did he know his name? Does it mean what Elizabeth said was true, that both Brandon and Jeff are step-brothers?

“Do you know him?” Hannah asked

“Who? Jeff? Of course, he’s a Business rival. We’ve had issues in the past, so we are not on good terms ” Brandon said and Hannah nodded in response. She wondered if what Elizabeth had said was true. But she quickly shook off the thought. She was sure it was another lie made up by her.

“Thank you for coming to my rescue,” Hannah said as she gave out a small smile.

“I’m only doing my job as your husband. Even though it’s a contract marriage, I still need to protect you, at least until I find my mother” Brandon said and Hannah nodded in response.

What was she expecting? He only did what he did because she was the only key to finding his mother, she thought as she sighed softly. Brandon stared at the petite woman that was in the room with her, he didn’t know why but he felt he was being too calm with Hannah and was starting to develop a soft spot for her.

“Can I ask you a question?” Hannah said and Brandon nodded in response

“Your father, how about him?” Hannah asked and Brandon’s face turned soured immediately. Hannah swallowed hard as she saw the look on his face, it was then she realized she had asked a question that wasn’t supposed to be asked.

Brandon stood up from the couch to leave without saying a word but just as he was about to leave, he turned towards Hannah and spoke.

“Donald has finally agreed to partner with the company. He will be coming over tomorrow to finalize the contract…. As the new COO, you will be by my side while he signs the contract” Brandon said

“I don’t think it’s a good idea to sign a contract with him,” Hannah said and Brandon stared at her weirdly wondering why she had said so.

Hannah swallowed hard as she stared at Brandon, he was giving her this questioning look, asking why she thinks he shouldn’t sign the contract with Donald.

“I think he’s planning something,” Hannah said and Brandon scoffed. He’s been trying to get Donald to partner with him for years now but he’s refused and now he’s agreed, Hannah thinks it’s a bad idea, Brandon thought quietly.

When Hannah noticed the strange look on Brandon’s face, she swallowed her.

“It’s nothing, I…I just had a bad feeling about it but it’s fine. Why don’t you invite him over at the Mansion, we could finalize the contract here and after then have some drinks together ” Hannah said and Brandon hummed.

“Okay,” Brandon said, and with that, he walked out of the room. Hannah sighed softly and collapsed on her bed.

With what she had overheard, she knew they were planning something bad against BRC. co but she didn’t know what. She was gonna find out about it, she needed to do some digging, she wouldn’t let BRC. co go down while she is the COO, not on her watch. She needed to do something.

She stood up from the bed and walked out of her room, she needed to go pick up her kids from school. She didn’t take them to school this morning, at least she should be the one to pick them up from school.

She climbed down the stairs with her phone in her hand when she saw Jessica walking out of the kitchen.

“Hey sister-in-law,” Jessica said and Hannah smiled at her.

“I heard you are now the new COO of my brother’s company. Congratulations” Jessica said and Hannah scoffed.

“Thank you,” Hannah said and Jessica chuckled slightly and moved towards Hannah and then whispered in her ears.

“I hope you survive whatever is coming,” Jessica said and Hannah stared at her with a confused expression on her face.

“I don’t understand, what are you talking about?” Hannah asked and Jessica touched her forehead.

“Oh my goodness! You have no idea”

“Idea of what?” Hannah asked and Jessica rolled her eyes.

“I’m just kidding. Anyways welcome to the party” Jessica said with a smile on her face and walked past her, climbing upstairs to her room.

She wondered what she meant by not knowing what was coming. She quickly shook off the thought. Maybe she was just trying to joke with her, she thought and walked out of the house. She hopped into her car, ignited the engine, and zoomed off.

Meanwhile, Brandon who was standing at the stairs watching the whole scene walked towards Jessica who was walking towards her room, and pulled her back with full force.

“Hey, what do you think you are doing? You hurting me” Jessica said

“Stay away from Her” Brandon groaned and removed his hands from Jessica.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Jessica asked, pretending not to know what Brandon was talking about.

“If a strand of hair falls off her hair, I swear on my life, I’m gonna burn you alive……”

“Oh yes, like you did to…….” Jessica paused and swallowed hard as he saw the deadly look on Brandon’s face. She didn’t dare say another word.

She wondered why he was so protective of her.
