Chasing the Unexpected

CHAPTER 689

Nyla quickly stepped back, shaking her head. “I can’t accept something so expensive.”

Oliver paused for a moment before chuckling. “Expensive is relative. This kind of money doesn’t mean much to me, and when I saw this jewelry set, I instantly thought of you.”

“It might not mean much to you, but it’s a big deal to me,” Nyla replied earnestly.

Seeing the seriousness in her eyes, Oliver frowned. “You’re my girlfriend. Isn’t it normal for me to give you jewelry?”

Nyla pressed her lips together, about to speak, when Valarie leaned in and whispered in her ear, “Nyla, so many people are watching. Do you really want to embarrass Oliver like this?

“Honestly, this is nothing to him. You could easily afford to buy him something just as valuable, so just accept it.”

Nyla glanced around and realized that everyone was indeed watching her and Oliver, some already whispering.

She looked back at Oliver and said, “Alright.”

Oliver smiled and stepped forward to help her put on the sapphire necklace.

The room erupted in applause.

“Haha, no wonder Mr. Raynor kept bidding higher and higher to win this jewelry set. The person he wanted to give it to is right here!”

“Mr. Raynor is so romantic! I can’t even imagine how happy I’d be if a guy gave me such beautiful jewelry in public.”

Tm so jealous of Nyla. I love that jewelry set too!”

Just as Damon returned to the hall, he caught sight of Oliver fastening the necklace around Nyla’s neck. His expression darkened.

Nyla’s face lit up with a gentle smile as she gazed warmly at Oliver

This scene pierced Damon like a knife. His hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into fists. A wave of bitterness surged in his chest.

Since regaining his memories, he had tried to stay away from Nyla and let her be happy with Oliver.

It had failed. He couldn’t stand the thought of watching her with someone else while he did nothing.

So, he decided–he was going to win Nyla back!

After everything that had happened, Damon knew he had no advantage. There was no reason for Nyla to come back to him.

However, he had Mason. If he could get Mason on his side, his chances of winning her back would Increase significantly.

With that thought, Damon turned and left without another word.

Unaware of Damon’s presence, Oliver looked at the necklace around Nyla’s neck and said gently, “It’s beautiful. It suits you perfectly.”

“Thank you. I really like it,” Nyla replied.

“I’m glad you like it. Let me take you home,” Oliver offered. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

“Sure, but I need to pick up Buddy first,” Nyla said.

As she spoke, she suddenly realized she hadn’t seen Damon for a while.

However, if she suggested taking him home too, Oliver would definitely be upset. Besides, even without her, there would be plenty of people willing to take Damon home.

“I’ll come with you to pick him up,” Oliver said.

Nyla turned to Valarie. “Valarie, we’re heading out.”

“Alright. I’ll come visit you in a few days,” Valarie replied.

Watching the two leave, Valarie smiled.

If Nyla could be with Oliver, it would be a good match for her. Oliver was kind and genuinely cared about Nyla, so he would surely treat her and Mason well.

Just as she was about to leave, someone tall suddenly blocked her path.

Brandon looked at Valarie with a smile. “
