Chasing My Pregnant Wife

Chapter 782

Chapter 782

Meanwhile, Wesley was nearly losing his mind.

Sydney had suddenly told him she wanted a divorce, and no matter how many times he called or texted, she didn't respond. With no other options, he had to turn to his mother.

"Mom, Sydney wants to divorce me. I don't know what's happening. She won't answer my calls. Please help me."

As soon as Wesley entered, he grabbed his mother's hand. Rebecca was annoyed by the commotion.

"Okay, okay. Wesley, you're in your thirties now-can you be a little more composed?"

"Mom, I—"

Suddenly, Wesley froze.

Hearing his mother say he was in his thirties, he thought he must have misheard.

"Mom, how old did you say I am?"

"You don't even know your own age? Do you think you're still three years old?" Rebecca shook her head in exasperation. "I've told you so many times to treat Sydney better and to stop messing around with other women, but you just won't listen to me!"

"Mom, that was a long time ago."

"A long time ago? How long has it been? Theo's only ten! You haven't given him any fatherly love all these years, and now you want your wife to forgive you? Good luck with that."

Seeing the look of disdain on his mother's face reminded Wesley of how she used to be years ago.

She was frustrated with him.

But that was so long ago.

And how could she say Theodore was only ten?

"Mom, did you say Theo's only ten this year?"

Rebecca raised her hand, and gently smacked his head. No matter how old he got, he still seemed like a child in front of her.

"You don't even know your own son's age? Wesley, I'm not trying to be harsh, but how can you be so careless? How can you treat your wife and son like this? I'm really becoming more and more disappointed in you."

Wesley opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but then he noticed Zane in the distance, seemingly signaling him.

"Mom, I'll be right back. I need to use the restroom."

"Alright, go ahead. You're grown now, but you still make me worry every day."

Wesley got up and left. Zane took him to a secluded spot, his expression serious.

"Zane, what's going on?" Wesley asked.

Zane sighed softly. "Madam Jarvis has been forgetting things lately. Sometimes she forgets what she just said, and she even thinks it was years ago -sometimes over a decade."

Wesley felt a knot tighten in his stomach. He frowned, his eyes filled with worry. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"Madam Jarvis didn't want me to say anything. She forgets some things, but then suddenly remembers them. She knows there's a problem, but she's afraid you'd worry."

Wesley clenched his fists. "Has she seen a doctor?"

Zane shook his head. "No, because Madam Jarvis probably has an idea of what it is."Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Dementia.

The moment Wesley thought of that word, his heart felt like it had taken a heavy blow.

All these years, Zane had been the one by Rebecca's side, so he understood her needs better than anyone.

Wesley's heart ached as he turned to look at his mother in the living room. He felt a deep sense of sorrow.

In his youth, he had overlooked his wife and son. Now in middle age, he didn't even realize his mother was suffering from dementia.

Like today, when he'd approached her like a child, seeking her support-it felt utterly ridiculous.

He was a grown man still looking for his mother, but he hadn't known she was ill.

For all these years, his mother had never reached out to him and his siblings about her struggles.

He had once resented her for insisting he marry Sydney.

He had blamed everyone for it, but only later did he understand why. His mother always wanted the best for him, even if her methods were sometimes misguided.

With a heavy heart, Wesley returned to Rebecca's side.

"Mom."

"Wesley, you're here. What's the matter?"

Wesley felt a pang in his chest. "Nothing, just came to see you."

"How's Theo? He called to say he'd come by, but he hasn't visited."

Rebecca remembered this, her memory fluctuating between clarity and forgetfulness.

Wesley hesitated.

"Mom, Theo's been a bit busy these days. I'll make sure he comes to see you soon."

Rebecca sighed lightly. "It's alright. You kids are all grown up now. Staying busy is good; it helps the company.

"By the way." Rebecca suddenly seemed to remember something. "I'm thinking of having Theo marry Rose. What do you think?"

"Rose is a good girl. I really want her to be my daughter-in-law." Rebecca smiled as she spoke.

"Yeah, she is." Wesley's voice trembled slightly.

So much was left unspoken, bottled up inside him.
