Chapter 51
Chapter 51
“You should change your outfit to something sexy and don’t forget to seduce him when he comes,” Connie said to her daughter who was in baggy shirts and leggings.
“Sure, see you soon. Vanessa kissed her mom on the cheek and then exited the room.
Cole knew it was probably a bad idea to be pulling up in front of Eric Summers‘ mansion when he should be avoiding them instead. But he knew that a final confrontation was needed especially after what he heard.
His driver pulled up into the driveway, parked in front of the house. Cole got down and made his way into the mansion. He met Vanessa and her parents in the living room.
Vanessa rose to her feet when she saw him. “Baby, where have you been?” She was walking towards him when he glared at her, making her stop in her tracks.
Connie and Eric occupied one of the couches in the spacious living room, Vanessa occupied a single couch so Cole proceeded to the couch opposite the family.
“What’s with that attitude, Cole? You were gone for a full week, you missed your baby’s appointment and here your are acting like someone without any responsibility?” Vanessa had no idea if it was her hormones in action but she was pissed that Cole ignored her at first instance when she was anticipating seeing him.
Cole ignored as though she wasn’t speaking to him and took his seat.
Vanessa fumed. She stormed to where he was seated, the double couch, and sat beside him. There was a reasonable gap between the duo.
“I am here to give an official warning to you as a family.”
“So you aren’t here to apologize?” Connie stared in shock.
“What for?” Cole countered.
“For being a nuisance the last time you were here. For almost killing me and your child, for hitting my mom and being rude to my dad. Isn’t this where you ask for our forgiveness and officially ask for my hand in marriage?” Vanessa voiced out, not believing she wore one of her most expensive dresses, did her makeup and styled her hair in preparation for him popping the question, only to see him do the opposite.
“You act like a saint and yet you are the real devil!” Cole attacked.
“What? You abandoned me with your child and here you are, saying vile words to me.”
“Cole, please do not cause any more trouble. You called and we were happy to know you would be coming over. We thought this gathering was going to be a peaceful one. Eric interrupted.
“Yes, it is going to be a peaceful one. I requested to see you all together so I wouldn’t have to repeat myself anymore.”
Just in time, Cole’s driver walked in with a big white envelope. He bowed, handed the envelope to Cole and took
his leave.
All eyes were on Cole as he dropped the envelope on the table that separated where he was seated and where Vanessa’s parents were seated.
“That’s the restraining onder,”
Vanessa chuckled in disbelief. “You must be kidding me.”
“No, I’m not. My lawyer would have delivered the documents but I know the importance and that is why I’m here to give you all a final warning. Especially you, Vanessa.”
“If you ever accuse me of being the father to the child you are carrying, I won’t hesitate to sue you for defamation.”
“Why are you doing this? Why are you abandoning your child? Is it because of that gold digger Hailey? You were with her all week, weren’t you?” Vanessa accused.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Cole? She has agreed to DNA once the child is born. What else do you want? Connie said, feeling pissed.
Cole chuckled in disbelief, not believing that both mother and Daughter were acting too righteous before him. Cole rose to his feet and directed at Eric. “You have no idea that these two women are in your lives to ruin you.” Connie rose to her feet. “What the hell do you mean? You are a coward who wouldn’t accept fatherly responsibility and suddenly you feel you know everything about us?”
Cole turned his attention to Eric. “Did Vanessa ever tell you that Hailey was pregnant before she disappeared?”
Eric looked shocked.
Vanessa frowned. “What are you talking about?”
“You knew Hailey was pregnant, you beat her up and left her bleeding.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” Vanessa answered.
“Is that so?” Eric’s angry voice resonated in the room.
“Of course not. Dad. I don’t know what he is talking about. He is saying all of these
just to avoid responsibility.”
Cole glared at Vanessa, pointing at her. “I would never forgive you for what you did to the woman I loved so much. You humiliated her, almost killed her and still had the guts to tell me that you loved me?”
“Come on Cole, why would you allow Hailey to feed your head with these lies? You shouldn’t be anywhere close to her. You should be with me and your baby.”
“Why would you think Vanessa would do that to her stepsister? Connie defended her daughter.
“You all can only fool Eric with your fake tears and pretentious innocent faces, not me.”
Cole turned to Eric and spoke. “They came into your life to destroy you and no doubt that they succeeded. If you and Hailey cross paths again, make sure you apologize to her because you made your daughter the enemy when these are your real enemies.” He pointed at Vanessa and Connie,
“See what Hailey is trying to do, Daddy. She knows that I am about to have a happy future with Cole but she is
seeing him behind our backs and feeding his head with lies.” Vanessa said, with fake tears rolling down her check.
“I should have ended you when I had the chance to.”
“What has come over you, Cole? Why would you even say something like that?” Connie said.
“You think I don’t know that you all had something to do with Hailey’s accident?” This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
Cole saw the shock in Connie’s face which she quickly shrugged off.
“Enough, Cole,” Eric said, rising to his feet.
Cole ignored and faced Vanessa who was still shedding tears. “I would never say vile words to anyone. Most especially a woman. But you are the most terrible human I’ve ever come across. You claim you love me but deep down, you are nothing but a beast!”
“Don’t you dare talk to her that way!” Connie warned but Cole ignored.
“Fine, I admit that you and Hailey are birthed by different mothers. But why would you allow your mother to influence you with so much hate for your sister?*
“I don’t understand how you can sleep at night after looking me in the eyes and accusing me of being the father of another man’s child.
“Even if you were the last woman on earth Vanessa, I would rather remain single and die unhappy than to be associated with you.”
“Tell me, what values are you going to teach my children if I get married to you?”
Lying, being bitchy and doing all sorts of evil?”
“You and your mother have always been jealous of Hailey but the truth is that She is a better human than you both. You all don’t even have up to half of the amazing qualities she’s got and you know what?” He glared at Vanessa. “I’d choose Hailey over you again and again.”
Vanessa sniffled. “Please don’t do this to me, Cole. I promise I’m going to change. I am going to meet the standards of your ideal wife. I will do better. Please don’t leave me. She was about to hold him but he shrugged his hands off
her.
“I came here to drop all of the restraining orders and give a final warning”
“I don’t want to see any member of your family near me, my home or my office. You all should stay from Hailey too or else be ready to spend the rest of your lives behind bars.”
the fuck away
“No, I am not going to let you give up on me. Vanessa clung onto Cole’s arm as he was about to take his leave. He released his arm from her hold, pushing her against the couch, then stormed out of the mansion.
“Where the hell were you?” Jess frowned the moment Cole walked into the office. She was seated on the visitor’s seat opposite his desk.
“I had to put those shitty people in their place before coming here,” Cole answered, taking his seat.
“I wonder what I ever saw in her that I wanted to marry her in the first place.”
“Sometimes you have to go through shitty stuff to realize certain things. If you weren’t into Vanessa at first, would have never come to know Hailey.”
you
“As hurtful as it sounds, If Vanessa didn’t drug you and Hailey, you both would never discover your feelings for each other.”
“I agree but I still needed to tell her how much of a bitch she had been. Guess what?”
“You ended her life this time around,” Jess said.
“I wish I could bring myself to do that but I want to be good role model to my sons.”
“Hailey told me Vanessa was aware she was pregnant the day she left. Apparently, they got into a fight and Hailey started bleeding. She almost lost the baby. I can’t believe Vanessa was cruel enough to not tell me about it all this while?”
“I’m sorry to hear she did that to Hailey. But yeah, she wouldn’t have told you because she was desperate to have to herself. She still does.”
Cole sighed. “I think I did well in threatening them to stay away. I hope they will abide by the order.”
“They should or else they would face the law.”
“That being said, all hands must still be on deck. I would suggest hiring guards for Hailey and the twins. Nothing serious. Just someone dedicated to watching them from afar. I don’t trust Vanessa and her evil mother. I want no stone unturned.”
Cole nodded, “I will discuss it with Hailey
“She’s really bothered about the safety of the kids. I wish I had the power to do something, to clear Vanessa and her mother off the face of the earth.”
“I understand you. But I don’t want you to dwell on those thoughts. I believe karma is coming for them real soon. You, Hailey and the kids are going to be fine.”
“I’m glad Enzo is getting better and you are bonding with your family.”
Cole smiled. “I have a family, Isn’t that crazy?”
Jessica chuckled. “It’s hard to believe too but I would say you earned it.”
“No, I’m not there yet. Hailey is still sort of giving me cold shoulders. She is not free with me yet as I want her to be.
“You expect her to embrace you with warm hands immediately? Guy, you are going to work your ass out for all the heartaches you caused her.”
“You don’t have to be brutal with me, I am paying for my sins already.”
“That is why I called you here. What can I do to put a smile on her face and make her like me again? I want my wife back and I am ready to take lessons.

Jessica smiled, loving where this conversation was going. She had never seen her best friend so thrilled about. making it up to a woman.
“I sent her flowers and a little gift this morning. I don’t know why but I feel it’s not enough. What can I would make her so proud of me? It’s so hard pleasing a woman who’s wealthier than me right?”
Jessica couldn’t help with the chuckle that escaped her lips.
