Chasing Back My Ex-wife

Chapter 52

Chapter 52

Arthur looked down, his thick eyelashes shading his bloodshot eyes. "Keep investigating! Keep investigating until Lucy is found!"

"Got it!" Chad thought for a moment and patted him on the shoulder. "Arthur, don't be too worried. Five years ago, so many people died in the plane crash, but Lucy was fine. This proves that she's very lucky!"

He rarely saw Arthur like this. The first time was when Elyse died, and the second time was five years ago when Lucy's plane had crashed.

The third time was...the present moment.

Arthur pursed his lips tightly. He looked depressed and wished he could beat himself bloody.

Fiver years ago, he hadn't realized his feelings and couldn't keep her safe.

Five years later, after he knew what he really wanted, could he still not keep her safe?

"...Arthur, actually, I have another idea." Chad hesitated for a moment and said, "After Lizbeth called you, something like this happened to Lucy. Do you think she...could be behind this?"

They had grown up together, and Chad knew how much Lizbeth liked Arthur.

It wasn't surprising for her to hire people to kidnap Lucy out of jealousy.

"She's just pampered. She doesn't have such an evil and scheming mind." Lizbeth had tagged after

Arthur through their childhood, and he thought he understood her.

Lizbeth, who was like his little sister, was arrogant and spoiled, but she couldn't possibly hire kidnappers to do something like this!

Chad was a little anxious. "But Arthur, when I went to see Lizbeth, she wasn't..."

"Chad, what are you gossiping about me this time?" Right then, a car pulled up, and Lizbeth, whose face was pale, got out and rolled her eyes at Chad.

Chad went quiet for a moment, but he still disliked that brat. "What do you mean gossip? I planned to tell Arthur the truth! Lizbeth, you dare say that you..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lizbeth had already walked to Arthur and was saying gently and worriedly, "Arthur, Lucy made it out alive five years ago. I'm sure she'll be fine this time too. Don't be too worried."

In a few more hours, those thugs would send her the video of them humiliating Lucy!

By then, even if Arthur had feelings for Lucy, he would definitely distance himself from her!

"Hmm." Arthur replied absentmindedly. All he was thinking about was Lucy, and he didn't hear anything Lizbeth had said.

Chad crossed his arms and snorted. Lizbeth's words of comfort to Arthur were exactly the same as his!

Thinking that Arthur had listened to her, Lizbeth looked at Chad arrogantly and continued, "Arthur, you haven't gotten any rest since Lucy got into trouble. How about you go get some rest? I'll keep watch here."

The thugs had said that they would send the video to her email after compressing it.

When the time came, she would play the video in front of all the officers on the case, and even better, let the media expose Lucy having a threesome!

"Stop pretending to be nice! If you hadn't pretended to be sick to lure Arthur away, would Lucy be in danger right now?" Chad couldn't stand her pretentious behavior. He already knew that Lizbeth was only putting on an act in front of Arthur!

Lizbeth bit her lip. Her face was pale, and she staggered backward. "How could you say that about me? When I called Arthur, I was really having a heart attack. When did I lie?"

Their bickering was very noisy.

Arthur, who was already agitated, burst out angrily, "Shut up! If you want to argue, then get out of my sight!"

His fierce, booming voice immediately made them stop arguing.

Lizbeth bit her lip miserably and looked at him with teary eyes.

The previous day, when she had gone through surgery because of her heart attack, Arthur hadn't given her a single word of care. Now, he was even yelling at her over that b*tch?

Arthur didn't notice her look of blame and took out his phone. Looking at the missed call, his heart ached terribly.

So long had passed, but why was there still no news from Lucy?!

Why did he have to be worried about Lizbeth and leave Lucy behind? Why did he not sleep well the night before and doze off in the car?

It was all his fault. All this was his fault! Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.

"Arthur, since they are neither your enemies nor Lucy's enemies, those two kidnappers are probably doing it for money. Who knows if they'll call us soon."

Even Chad didn't believe his own words. If the kidnappers were out for money, they would have called the day before after the kidnapping!

Lizbeth clenched fists. She secretly felt happy, but she put on a look of worry and said, "I think since Lucy's so beautiful, the kidnappers might want to..."

"If you have no business here, then get lost!" Arthur glared at her before she could finish talking. His tone was venomous.

How dare anyone talk bad about his woman?

Even his childhood friend wasn't allowed to!

That glare almost scared Lizbeth out of her wits and her hairs stood on end. Her mind went blank like a clean sheet of paper.

Chad gloated. "He told you to get lost. Are you deaf?"

"Arthur, I still feel a little sick, so I'll head off." Lizbeth was very sad at being told to get lost by the man she loved.

She forced a smile, but seeing Arthur ignore her, she felt even sadder and more jealous. She left dejectedly.

She had worked so hard, but why was she still inferior to Lucy?

...

"Haha..." Lucy chuckled, but it sounded worse than a sob.

Ron's face was livid. "What's so funny?"

"Didn't you guys ask me why I'd still f*ck another man when I have a disease?" Lucy's voice was very soft. "It's because I hate him. I hate him so much that I want him to die!"

Ron looked puzzled, as did Troy. They obviously didn't believe her.

Lucy lowered her head and used her hair to cover her face so that they wouldn't notice anything off. "You guys might not believe my words, so let me put it another way. Do you know why Lizbeth hates me so much that she even hired you to kidnap me and record that sort of video?"

"Why?" Even men could be nosy sometimes.

Lucy hadn't had any water to drink for a long time, so her voice was slightly hoarse. "Because the man she loves coincidentally loves me instead, while I don't love him. I easily got what she tried so hard to get, so she'd naturally hate me and go to every means to make that man hate me!"

In fact, ever since she had started dating Arthur, Lizbeth had kept playing dirty little tricks in secret.

In Arthur's eyes, Lucy was already a shameless woman who schemed to get into his bed. After being badmouthed by Lizbeth, she went from that to a thick-skinned, gold-digging, cunning b*tch!
