Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Lucy looked up at him. The hand mark didn't affect her beauty at all. "It's simple. I got jealous and slapped Miss Byrd, so she slapped me back."
She pried his hand away slowly and stooped to get into the car.
Arthur got into the car with her. He felt like something was off, but it sounded logical. "There's no need for you to get jealous of her. If I liked her, I would have married her after you 'died'!" Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Then thank you so much. Five years have passed, but you still left the title of Mrs. Johnson for me," Lucy said in a strange tone.
In his eyes, Lizbeth was kinder than her. Everyone was kinder than her and only she was scheming and evil.
Ha! He had such a bad impression of her, but he was still holding on to her. What a miracle!
Every word she said was like a stab to Arthur's heart, wounding him. In silence, he took out a document and tossed it to her, fearing that he might say something hurtful he would regret later.
Lucy took the document and asked casually, "Is this another one of those s*x contracts?"
In those three years, she had often received that kind of thing.
"... No." Arthur turned to look at her. The red mark on her cheek was in plain sight, hurting his eyes.
How many despicable things had he done back then for her to say the words "s*x contract" so
naturally?
Lucy flipped open the agreement and read through it, then flung it back to him. "I don't need your pity!"
Lucy flipped open the agreement and read through it, then flung it back to him. "I don't need your pity!"
It was a purchasing agreement for high-tech materials. The required supply was way larger than Mr. Adkins had purchased, and that agreement was the sort her small company could only dream of signing.
However, she didn't want to owe Arthur a favor at all!
"Lucy, can't you stop acting tough?" A small flame burned in Arthur's eyes. Did she want to cut him off so badly?
Lucy didn't say anything. She couldn't be bothered to argue with him.
Arthur was furious. He ripped the agreement to shreds and tossed it to the floor. "I just want to help you for once!"
Lucy didn't spare the shreds of paper a single glance. She leaned against the window and watched the passing cars, her gaze faraway.
Since five years ago, they should not have had anything to do with one another again.
Arthur was really pissed off. He sent her to her office building and asked the driver to drive off.
Only when the car disappeared from sight did Lucy get her senses back and walk into the building with her handbag.
The cute girl at the front desk was very curious. "Ms. Morgan, I saw you get out of a luxury car. Do tell, are you dating a rich guy? Are we going to have a man-boss?"
"What even is a man-boss?" Lucy subtly hid the hand mark on her face with her hair to make sure that nosy employee wouldn't notice anything.
"The lady-boss' husband! It's easy to understand!" The girl babbled on, "Ms. Morgan, don't change the topic! Hurry up and tell me. Are you going to marry into a rich family?"
"Aren't I from a rich family?" Lucy winked at her and strutted off.
The girl stamped her feet and shouted, "That's different. That Bentley is an international limited edition! Also, you're an hour late today. Is it because you did some intense exercises last night so you overslept?"
She got no answer.
Pretending like she didn't hear anything, Lucy went into her office.
In recent years, the company had advanced quite well. Their revenue had grown from a million to tens of millions, and they even opened a separate branch.
Even so, with the rocketing real estate prices in City A, the company's revenue was only enough for them to rent a 13-storey building for their office. If they wanted to own their own company building like
other listed companies, they still needed a lot of time.
Lucy sat in her office chair and put her hand on her forehead. She had a slight headache.
