CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1257

Eugene's urgency in proposing again was painfully obvious, and it only made Lydia more determined to leave.

The next morning, after her fever had subsided, Lydia expressed her desire to leave.

Eugene, who had been calmly wiping his mouth with a napkin, froze mid-motion. "You're still not fully recovered. Why are you in such a rush to leave?" he asked, his voice carrying a hint of displeasure. "The doctor said you need to rest."

The doctor had indeed mentioned this yesterday before leaving, but given the clear closeness between him and Eugene, Lydia found herself doubting the advice.

"I want to go," she insisted, her resolve clear.

Eugene's gaze grew colder, and the room fell into a heavy silence. The tension was palpable, with even Mrs. Lucy and the other staff too afraid to intervene.

After what felt like an eternity, Eugene finally spoke, his voice calm but sharp, "It's not the right time."

Lydia's brows furrowed. "Why not?"

"Have you forgotten the state of things online? Until the rumors are dealt with, your safety is at risk," Eugene said with a faint sneer. "Maybe you should ask Quincy to be more proactive in shutting those people up."

Thinking about the persistent rumors swirling around on social media, Lydia clenched her fists. She had no idea where these rumors had even started from. Quincy had promised to resolve it, but despite the time that had passed, nothing had improved. Pushing the frustration aside, she reminded herself to trust Quincy. "I still can't stay here. I've already been here too long. I need to go home tonight," she said, her voice steady. "I'll pack up and leave. If it's possible, I'd appreciate a ride, but if not, I'll manage." Eugene's gaze darkened as he silently observed her. For a fleeting moment, he entertained the idea of forcing her to stay. But in the end, he relented.

He arranged for a driver to take her back to the Fay family home.

As the sleek black luxury car pulled up in front of the house, Mrs. Perez came out, clearly surprised to see, her daughter. "Lydia! Where have you been these past few days?she exclaimed, her voice a mix of relief and worry.

"Mom," Lydia greeted softly, glancing at the driver. "You can head back now."

The car pulled away, and Lydia's mother eyed it curiously. "That wasn't Quincy's car, was it? Who brought you home? Quincy has been worried sick about you. He's called us at least ten times!"

Mrs. Perez's concern was palpable.

At first, she had assumed Lydia was upset over the rumors circulating online and had gone off somewhere alone. She had even considered calling the police, but Mr. Perez had stopped her before it escalated.

Lydia's expression turned complicated. "It's... a long story, Mom. I'll explain later."

Seeing the sadness in Lydia's eyes, Mrs. Perez's heart ached. Sensing Lydia's reluctance to discuss it, she didn't press for details and instead led her inside. "Come in, sweetheart. Let's get you settled." C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

"Hubby! Come downstairs, look who's home!" her mother called up excitedly.

Moments later, Mr. Perez emerged from the study upstairs, arms crossed. "I'm not deaf, you know," he muttered, but a small smile tugged at his lips as he descended the stairs.

Lydia sat down with Mrs. Perez, and after a moment of hesitation, she finally revealed, "The driver who brought me home was Eugene's."
