Chapter 1196
Day after day, Joe could not avoid his duties at the company any longer, but Yvonne refused to let anyone else near her.
With no other option, he started bringing her to the office. To ensure she wasn't disturbed or triggered by anything, Joe set up children's toys and equipment in his office. He also issued a notice that no one except his assistant was allowed inside. One morning, as Joe brought Yvonne into the office, some employees immediately recognized her. Seeing her in her childlike state, they began whispering and gossiping, saying all sorts of things. Though Joe did not hear them, Nigel did. Nigel had finally convinced Mr. Gibson Sr. to allow him to handle business, and on his first day at Turner Corporation, he ran into Yvonne.
Seeing the woman he still loved in such a state broke his heart. When he overheard someone say she deserved it, rage flared inside him. But Nigel was not the impulsive young man he once was.
Instead of causing a scene, he followed his assistant to the business department, calmly negotiating the terms.
However, as they were finalizing the contract, Nigel spoke up. "There's one thing I need to make clear. If these individuals remain employed at Turner Corporation, Gibson Corporation will not proceed with this partnership. Furthermore, we will ensure that no one else does business with you either."
The department head, a seasoned negotiator, quickly weighed the gravity of the situation and reported it to Joe.NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
Joe, unaware of what had transpired, was puzzled as to why Nigel was suddenly involved. After hearing that it was Nigel's first day visiting the company, Joe quickly pulled up the security footage.
What he saw enraged him. He watched the employees' sneering faces and their disrespectful comments. Furious, Joe swept all the papers from his desk to the floor and shouted, "Tell the department head to meet Nigel's demands!"
He couldn't fire so many people all at once on his own. However, since it was a request from a big client, especially one as significant as the Gibson family, he now had a reason to do it.
After resolving the issue, Joe turned to find Yvonne staring at him in fear. Realizing his outburst had scared her, he quickly apologized.
"My bad, my little sister. I'm sorry. Don't be scared, okay?" Joe said softly.
Yvonne whimpered, "Don't get mad. I'm scared."
Joe hugged her tightly. "I won't get mad again, I promise." Only then did Yvonne smile, offering him a cookie.
Joe noticed an unusual smell
coming from the cookie. Looking
down, he saw a puddle on the floor Yvonne Kad wet herself again. He lost
had lost track of how many times this had happened, but Yvonne just could not remember to go to the bathroom.
Joe sighed, used to it by now, and gently picked her up to change her clothes. Yvonne shook her head. "Eat the cookie."
Joe smiled, hiding his frustration as he ate the cookie she insisted on giving him. Then, before she could hand him another, he scooped her up and took her to the back room to change.
Meanwhile, word of Nigel's actions
had quickly reached the Gibson
family. While Mr. Gibson Sr. was pleased with his handling of the situation, Shirley was concerned. "Dad, is it really wise to let him work with Turner Corporation? I've heard Yvonne's lost her mind. What if something happens?"
Mr. Gibson Sr. chuckled. "Don't worry. Nigel knows that he and Yvonne are in the past. Even if he still has feelings for her, he wouldn't dare get involved again." Shirley did not understand at first.
Mr. Gibson Sr. stroked his beard thoughtfully. "He's afraid we might take action against Yvonne."
With that, Shirley's worries faded.
Her face brightened, and she said, "Then I'll start arranging some blind dates for him. He won't object now. Once we finalize his marriage, we won't have to worry about Yvonne or anyone else."
Mr. Gibson Sr. nodded, offering a warning, "Make sure to find someone with good character. We can't afford to be humiliated again."
