Chapter 61 Where's Louis?
Blanche dashed toward the backyard of the restaurant, but there was no place to hide in the open space.
She clenched her fists and ran toward the large, locked iron door, which was her only way out.
"Ha, do you think you can run away? Go get him!"
She didn't waste a moment and scrambled up, trying to grab the top of the iron door. But before she could reach it, she was yanked down by a strong force from behind.
"D*mn! It's impressive of you to run despite the effects of the drug. That's sick, Mr. Herbart."
Blanche covered her head and crouched on the ground, hoping to buy time for Louis by not revealing her face.
"Something is wrong. Louis is robust, while this person is petite, like a woman," someone voiced his doubt.
"A woman?"
The next moment, Blanche was lifted by a pair of thick hands on her chin. Her hat fell off, and her face was exposed.
She winced in pain, her face pale and twisted.
"D*mn! It's really a woman. We've been fooled."
"We can't go back empty-handed." One of the men panicked. By that time, Louis might have escaped.
"Hmph! This little b*tch must know where Louis is. We just need to get it out of her." He pinched Blanche's chin heavily and looked down to find that the suit and leather shoes she was wearing belonged to Louis.
"Who... is Louis? I don't know him. You've got the wrong person," Blanche trembled, pretending to be clueless.
"Don't play dumb. Do you think we're blind? The clothes you're wearing are his. Tell us, where is Louis hiding?"
In a fit of pique, the man pressed her face against the rough wall.
Blanche felt that her skin had been worn off.
"This is a mistake. I found the clothes in the trash can. I don't know who they belong to," she said.
"Get her up. I'll ask her myself," a raspy voice said.
The man released his grip on Blanche's head, but he turned to grab her wrist and dragged her forward.
Blanche felt like she was a lamb to the slaughter, and her heart was pounding wildly. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
She was forced to her knees, and the fabric of her pants rubbed and tore against the rough ground. The skin on her knees broke, and she clenched her teeth. The kneeling position was too humiliating, and she tried to stand up. But before she could, she was knocked down once again.
"Bitch, stop moving," the man growled.
Blanche dared not stand up again, and she covered her painful cheek.
She lifted her head slightly, only to see a fierce-looking man. The sight of his hideous brown face alone made her tremble.
"Where is Louis? You'd better tell me immediately because I'm not a patient person," he said, placing a knife on Blanche's neck, cutting her fair skin instantly.
Blanche's teeth chattered as she wondered what kind of luck had brought her here, only to lose her life like this.
In her heart, she prayed repeatedly for Louis to come and save her. She didn't want to die.
"I don't know who you're talking about. You've got the wrong person. I really did just pick up the clothes," she said.
"Do you really think we're blind? Well, I'll give you one last chance. If you refuse to tell, you will go to hell," the man threatened, the flesh on his face trembling.
Blanche clenched her fists so forcefully that they sweated. She knew this man wasn't joking with her, but she couldn't say anything.
Louis had just been drugged, and he might not have been rescued yet.
Seeing that Blanche still had her mouth tightly shut, the man ran out of patience and left.
"D*mn! What a waste of my time! Get rid of her and go find Louis," he ordered.
The man who had just pressed Blanche against the wall held up a glinting dagger. He lifted her from the ground and covered her mouth. Drawing the dagger close to her abdomen, he didn't give her a chance to speak.
Blanche was forced to tilt her head back, her eyes widening in horror. It was getting dark, and her mind was blank.
"This chick looks quite pretty, but she is stubborn as hell. If I'm not in a hurry today, I'll claim you. Now I have to send you to hell," the man said.
"Mmm..." Blanche struggled desperately but was held down from behind.
A chill settled in her abdomen, and her grandmother's kind face flashed before her eyes. She shook like a leaf as the man behind her let go, causing her to fall to the ground.
However, the expected pain did not come. Blanche was still curled up on the ground, holding her head and shivering violently, unable to hear fighting around her.
She thought she must have died and it must have hurt too much that she couldn't feel anything. She felt sorry for her grandma.
"It's okay. I'm here to save you," Louis said as he approached and held Blanche's shoulders, gently patting them to bring her out of her fear-induced state.
"Blanche."
'Huh? Why does the voice sound so familiar?' She wondered, 'Louis?'
As she slowly tilted her head up and realized it was indeed Louis, she swallowed hard.
"Bawl, did you die too? That's too bad." Her eyes brimmed with tears as she recalled the moment when the dagger had been thrust at her. She had been scared out of her wits.
Seeing Blanche cry for the first time, Louis felt as though his heart had been squeezed. She was usually mischievous and lively, but now that she was crying. He felt helpless and unsure of what to
do.
It made him feel like he had failed to protect her.
"It's alright. You're fine. Sam stopped that bastard in time," Louis reassured her gently as he wiped away her tears.
