Can't Win Me Back

Chapter 98

After replying to Newton’s question, Jasper moved to stand next to Alyssa. He stared at her quietly.

He could still see tear tracks on her pretty face. Her hair covered half of her face, making her look

even more pitiful and frail.

Alyssa blushed in embarrassment:

Another teardrop dripped off her eyelashes at that moment.

Jasper’s focus was now on Alyssa’s eyelashes. He could feel his chest heaving slightly as he

stared at her eyelashes in a daze.

“Hurry up and apologize to your wife, you st* pid brat!” Newton urged angrily.

“Why do I have to apologize to her? I didn’t make her cry.” Jasper frowned in confusion.

Newton widened his eyes furiously. “Alice’s your wife, damn it! Are you expecting me to comfort

your own wife? Are you that st* pid?”

“Grandpa, Jasper and I are already divorced, so I’m not his-”

“I don’t care! He never did anything for you during your three–year marriage! He owes you that

apology from the start!”

Newton’s expression darkened when he heard the word “divorce.” A look of frustration and pain

soon took over his features.

“Jasper, if you don’t apologize to Alice right now, I’ll disown you!”

Jasper pursed his lips tightly for a short while. Finally, he said softly, “Sorry.”

Alyssa widened her red and puffy eyes in response. She could feel her heart hammering inside

her.

For the first time ever, Jasper actually apologized to her.

It was a shame that he didn’t mean what he said.

“This time, I want you to perform a gentleman’s bow in front of Alice while apologizing to her!”

Newton demanded

“Is that really necessary?” Jasper could feel a wave of irritation washing over him.

“You should count your lucky stars that I didn’t force you to prostrate! I used to do the same thing to your grandmother back in the day!

“Alice is my beloved granddaughter–in–law, so you’d better apologize sincerely! Now hurry up!”

Jasper had no choice but to comply with his grandfather’s wishes. He took half a step backward with his hands firmly placed by his sides. Then, he leaned forward and dipped his head slightly to perform the perfect gentleman’s bow.

“I’m truly sorry, Ms. White. I’m the one at fault.”

Newton couldn’t help but smirk when he witnessed Jasper’s antics. At that moment, he wished

that Jasper and Alyssa could become a couple again.

Meanwhile, Alyssa’s sobs started to calm down. But her cheeks were still flushed. The sight of Jasper being a chivalrous gentleman amused her greatly.

It didn’t matter if Jasper’s apology was sincere or fake. The fact that he lowered his head in front of Alyssa pleased her to no end.

Just as Jasper was about to straighten up, Newton issued his next order. “You’d better stay in that position until Alice says so! You’re only allowed to straighten up once she gives the order!”

A few seconds passed since then, but Alyssa didn’t say anything.

Jasper knew that she was doing it on purpose.

Alyssa finally sniffled loudly when she noticed how impatient and frustrated Jasper looked. She spoke up in a soft tone after that.

“Grandpa, Jasper has nothing to do with me crying from the start. Please don’t blame him.”

Jasper scowled in response. Alice was definitely a cunning woman.

Still, his anger dissipated when he saw how puffy her eyes were.

When it was time for dinner, Alyssa wheeled Newton into the dining room. Jasper walked next to

them.

A delicious feast took up every inch of the table. Obviously, Newton had prepared such a grand

dinner for Alyssa.

The moment they took their seats, Xavier rushed into the dining room with a conflicted look. He stopped next to Jasper. He wanted to lean and whisper something into his ear.

“Just spit it out.” Newton hated it the most whenever people whispered in front of him.

He continued seriously, “We’re all family here. There’s no need to hide things from each other, especially when you’re in my house right now.”

“Um, well…” Xavier turned to look at Jasper. Clearly, he looked torn.

“It’s fine,” the latter ordered calmly.

“Yes, sir.”

Xavier took a deep breath before explaining, “I received a phone call from Madam Sophia. She

heard you’re spending time with Mr. Beckett, so she didn’t dare disturb you. That’s why she

contacted me and asked me to pass a message to Mr. Beckett.”

“Hmph! At least she’s sensible!” Newton’s expression darkened whenever Sophia was mentioned.

“Madam Sophia said that Ms. Gardner’s diagnosis results are out. It turns out that she’s diagnosed

with severe depression.”Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
