Chapter 816
Chapter 816
Yvonne had fallen in love with the Yates’ cruise ship the moment she had laid eyes on it. Unfortunately, she had never had the chance to set foot on board and experience its splendor.
She had begged Marietta several times. At first, Marietta had said that if there was a chance, she would
take Yvonne aboard for a look.
However, as Yvonne had persisted, Marietta had grown somewhat irritated. She had even sternly lectured Yvonne, emphasizing that there was no need to place such importance on material possessions.
Although Marietta had been beating around the bush, Yvonne understood what she was trying to say. Marietta’s message was clear-she wanted Yvonne to refrain from indulging in vanity.
Yvonne had been tempted to talk back, but she hesitated when she remembered that Marietta was the
one who paid for all her expenses.
“Why can’t I go up?” Caroline frowned with impatience.
“You’re really strange. Can you please move aside?
“Do you really need to put on an act in front of me? Do you even realize the consequences you’ll face once you go up?” The Yates family wasn’t one to be trifled with.
Caroline shook off Yvonne’s hand. “You’re really incomprehensible,” she said before striding toward the
cruise ship.
Yvonne crossed her arms and prepared to see how Caroline made a fool of herself. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
But to her surprise, not only did the staff member not send Caroline away, but he even politely helped her
onto the cruise ship.
Yvonne couldn’t believe what she had just seen. She hurriedly approached the cruise ship, eager to step aboard, but the staff member stopped her. “Miss, you can’t board the cruise ship.”
Yvonne pointed at Caroline, “Why is she allowed to board?”
“Ms. Caroline is a friend of Mrs. Yates Senior.”
“What… what did you say?” Yvonne stammered.
The staff repeated his words and then said politely, “Miss, please leave.”
Yvonne suddenly became agitated and said, “Impossible! How could she be a friend of Mrs. Yates Senior?
She must be lying. You need to thoroughly check her identity.”
“Who is causing trouble on my cruise ship?” A stern voice echoed, capturing everyone’s attention.
“Mrs. Yates Senior.” The staff member’s address reminded Yvonne that the person before her was Betty, mother to SY Group’s president’s doctor friend.
Betty approached Yvonne, sized her up from head to toe, and said, “Who are you? I saw you causing trouble for Caroline from afar.”
“Mrs. Yates Senior, she isn’t trustworthy. You mustn’t allow her onto your cruise ship,” said Yvonne
urgently.
“Well, aren’t you a strange one? It’s my cruise ship, and I decide who gets on it. I don’t need you meddling
in my affairs.”
“She truly isn’t trustworthy!” Yvonne pointed at Caroline.
Betty snorted disdainfully, lifting her chin as she questioned the staff member, “Who is she? This is a private beach. Why allow someone with such poor manners in?”
The staff member replied respectfully, “Madam, this is Ms. Yvonne Hackett. Ms. Weiss’ daughter, with
whom she recently reunited.”
Betty and Marietta were close. She had heard that Marietta had found her daughter, but she hadn’t seen
the said daughter before.
Upon hearing that she was Marietta’s daughter, Betty’s gaze turned even more discerning.
“Really? Well, Ms. Weiss should teach her some discipline. She doesn’t appear to be Ms. Weiss’ daughter at all, more like an uncivilized troublemaker.”
Yvonne was so humiliated by Betty’s reproach that she could feel her cheeks getting flushed.
