Chapter 44
She pondered and decided not to ask
. She fiddled with the food in the dish, despite her lack of hunger.
The hotel’s cuisine looked delicious, but she couldn’t eat it.
“You don’t like them?”
He questioned, getting up to retrieve the phone. “Then reorder.”
“Eh…”Ava grasped his wrist,”I simply don’t like it.”
He sat and shook her. “It matters!”
He kissed her nose as he said.
Ava’s heart was racing. She had to quickly look aside and eat something.
After supper, she sat in the living room and watched TV while he bathed.
She slept on the couch due to the cold.
When Jeorge Milton returned, she was still sleeping and clutching the remote control board.
Sitting next to her, he couldn’t help but notice her sleepiness.
The deep crimson lips itched his heart. He stretched his hand and caressed her lips. It felt gentle and soft.
He seized the remote and switched off the TV before picking her up and carrying her upstairs.
He sat her on the master bed and stared at her for a while before going to get a jewelry box. He gripped her ankle and put on the tiny foot chain with the lock.
Her ankles were tiny, her skin soft,.
He got up and left the room, covering her with a blanket. He came up to the balcony and seated. He smoked a cigarette in silence…
The weekend was just one day, and they were expected back in the afternoon the next day.
She awoke at about noon. She ate and left for Britain.
He embraced her and murmured in her ear, “Sleep with me a little longer.”
As he spoke, hot air stroked her ears, making her shudder in pain.
His arm was so strong it couldn’t move. She slept in a haze and awoke around midday.
Avawas embarrassed on the way back.
Because when she awoke in the morning, she could definitely sense the guy behind her.
She was closely gripped by him at the moment, and she tried to ignore anything behind her, but she couldn’t.
She flushed as she let him hold her, thinking, This guy is a hooligan!
How could he…
Luckily, he didn’t go any farther. She only slept when he embraced her.
Her cheeks got redder as she recalled what occurred that morning. It seemed as though she had hypoxia.
“What are you thinking about? ” he said softly, gripping her hand .
Hearing this made Ava even more reluctant.
She couldn’t even lie.
“No…””Nothing,”she stutters.
“It’s odd to see you stuttering ,” he said, smiling.
“Do you like this gift?” he said, holding her hand to his lips and nibbling on her finger.
Ava suddenly remembered her ankle was shackled, and the pendant was a lovely tiny lock.
“Why a lock?”
She was puzzled. “I can imprison you with me for the rest of your life.”
His grin was both serious and casual, making it difficult to discern whether he was serious or not.
When her phone called, Ava realized it was Goden Bran’s number, she paused, and then answered.
“Hello.”
The voice was feeble, and Ava had a feeling something was wrong. “Is anything wrong?” he questioned.
“Ava, Grandma, she…”Goden Bran’s tone changed, and he finally said, “I’m worried Grandmother can’t hold on, can you come over?”
Ava Lins hung up the phone, unable to restore her mood.
“Can you drive me to the hospital? Grandma’s been to the hospital again,” she asked Jeorge Milton, fearing she might never see her again.
“What if I don’t let you go?”JExclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
When Goden Bran mentioned his grandma, she would flee.
Avawas shocked. “I must leave!” she exclaimed, not believing he was kidding.
“Do you want to visit Grandma, or Goden Bran?” he asked, unhappy in his heart.
“Jeorge Milton, My grandma is ill in the hospital and I’m scared she won’t survive. How can you say such things now? ”
“Stop!” she yelled, turning away from him.
“I’ll drive you there.”
Jeorge Milton kept driving, his lips pursed, as if he didn’t hear her screams.
In an instant, he felt Ava’s anger and was ready to open the door when he stepped on the brake and stopped the car on the wayside.
“Ava Lins, are you nuts!”
Did she know his hands and feet were soft because his heart was racing?
He was ready to turn and hurl her out when she opened the door.
Avaforcefully opened the door, ignoring his rage, sprang out and stretched her hand to halt the cab.
Jeorge Milton’s fist hit the driving wheel angrily, cursing.
“You won’t be able to get a taxi here!” he said, stepping out of the car to catch up with her.
Avafought, but was quickly dragged into his grip.
“I’ll take you there, to the hospital, okay? “Don’t be angry.”
Avaceased resisting. He groaned and drew her to the car’s side. He helped her buckle her seatbelt, fearful she’d make a scene again…
They stopped talking along the way.
Jeorge Milton stared at her nervously approaching the hospital as they arrived.
She went back to Goden Bran’s grandmother.
Don’t weep, Sweetheart, granny loves to laugh.
When Ava came at the hospital, she observed the doctor shaking his head at Goden Bran, indicating his grandmother couldn’t survive much longer. “Sorry, Mr. Smith, we did our best to save her but we failed. If you have anything to say to her, please say it now.”
Ava was at the ward’s door. This made her heart skip a beat. Bean-sized tears fell from her eyes.
Ava reminisced and held back tears. In the end, she couldn’t…
She walked forward, sobbing and clutching her grandmother’s hand. “Grandma…”
She wanted to comfort him but couldn’t.
Compared to their anguish, Grandma was gentler, reaching out to Goden Bran. Goden Bran took her hand and held it.
“Ava, Grandma certainly can’t wait to watch you two enjoy a nice life. Do you remember what you promised Grandma last time?”
“I recall.”
She nodded, her eyes welling.
Her voice was barely inaudible. But she kept speaking, as though scared of losing a second.
“In the future…”… You… Forgive him and give him a chance for your grandmother’s sake. ”
“Grandmother, don’t speak anymore,”Ava wailed, holding her granny’s hand hard. ” I swear.”
