She didn’t know how to break up with Red. She didn’t want to hurt the man but she had to do it instead of losing his respect for her once he found out about her work from his brother. She knew they would still end up breaking up if that happens.

She just stared at her phone for a long time. She was even surprised when it suddenly rang. Red was the one calling.

“Hello, Red?” she answered promptly.

“Sam, can we meet now?” his voice was serious and she was not accustomed to him being so serious.

He is always lively and cheerful when they’re talking. Did his older brother tell him about her real job? Nervously, she agreed to meet the man. She immediately took a bath because he would pick her up after an hour.

Red took him to a quiet place. It was four o’clock in the afternoon and they were in a park. They did not get out of the car. It has been quiet since he picked her up at their house.

He suddenly grabbed her hand as she turned to him. He brought it to his lips and kissed it as if he was heartbroken.

Surprisingly, she waited for him to speak, even though she was nervous.

“Sam, I h-have a confession to make. I’m really sorry…” his eyes seemed to cry.

It seemed like he still didn’t have any idea about her work. Could another woman be the reason for his apology?

Did her boyfriend cheat on her?

“What is it, Red?” she was giving him the courage to continue what was to be said.

She can use what he would confess to her as a reason for them to separate. That would be easier and she wouldn’t hurt the man so much. She didn’t know why instead of being hurt by the thought that he might have cheated with another woman, her chest seemed to lighten even more because of the possibility that his feelings were not that serious towards her because he was tempted by another woman.

Red took a deep breath and didn’t take his gaze away from her.

“Sam, I’m… gay.”

She did not expect what he admitted. She blinked and her brain tried to accept what Red had just said.

“I truly like you, Sam. It’s just that I can’t also stop myself from loving Mike. He just told me that he feels the same way. I can no longer hide from myself what I really am, Sam. I can’t pretend anymore. I was just trying to be a normal man but I can’t stop it. I should accept myself. I’m so sorry if it looked like I was playing with you but I didn’t really intend to do this to you.” He cried while explaining himself.

Even though she hadn’t seen Mike yet, she seemed to know him already because he was always Red’s favorite topic.

That’s why his eyes twinkle differently when he tells her stories about Mike. All she knew was that Mike was his best friend.

Red crouched down while still holding her hand and crying. She gently stroked his hair with her hand.

“Red, you don’t have to be guilty. I’m happy that you’ve been honest with me. You’re a good person, Red, and you should just be happy with the person your heart is really beating for,” she said calmly to the man.

He suddenly looked up at her.

“You’re not angry?” He wanted to confirm it.

She shook her head and smiled at him.

“I’m happy for you,” she held his hand tightly as well.

Suddenly the young man hugged her.

“Thank you, Sam. This means a lot to me,” he said tearfully as he hugged her.

She hugged him too. That was just the most intimate moment between them since the day he became her boyfriend.

When he let go of her embrace she then asked him.

“How about your older brother? Will you tell him?” she asked worriedly.

She couldn’t quite imagine how his brother would react to Red’s confession about himself.

“I’m not ready to tell him the truth yet. I know Clayton very well and I know it’s not easy for him to accept it.”

“How can you keep your relationship with Mike a secret?” she asked next.

Red smiled.

“Would you believe it? Clayton already allowed me to study abroad and follow my dream. I didn’t expect that either but he talked to me yesterday. Mike and I also talked about it and he is willing to be with me because we have the same desires in life. We will be free of what we really feel once we’re there,” she could see the joy in his eyes.

She was the one who cried at what she heard because she was really happy for the man. Even though they had only known each other for a short time, he still had a place in her heart.

“I’m happy for you, Red,” she said sincerely.

“Thank you, Sam. If I were really a man at heart I would marry you right away,” Red’s voice returned to the liveliness of his voice.

She laughed as she wiped away the tears.

Suddenly the young man’s face became serious again.

“I was just worried about Clayton,” he said.

She could not understand the sudden pounding of her heart when his older brother was mentioned.

“Didn’t you say that his ex-fiancee will be back this year?” she reminded him to lessen his concern for his brother.

“That’s it but…” he took a deep breath before adding something.

“After the accident, our doctor always visited him. One day, I overheard them talking. I think the real reason why he didn’t follow Faith to London was because of the result of his accident. He was hurt badly on his groin. He was asking the doctor why his private part didn’t react anymore. I think he became impotent. I know he is so desperate and he’s feeling down until now. Maybe it will get worse when Faith comes back. How can he have the courage to propose to her again if he can no longer fulfill the obligation as a husband? ” Red admitted.
