Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 130

Chapter 130

Looking at the diamond earrings in the trash can, Jerome scowled. “What the heck is wrong with you, Mikayla?”

“Why don’t you ask yourself?” Mikayla snapped. “Don’t buy gifts for me when you don’t even mean it. I’m not a recycling center for your trash. I don’t want stuff that belongs to someone else!”

Wary that she might be even more furious if she found out that the earrings were from Kylie, Jerome kept his composure and said patiently, “They don’t belong to anyone. Look, the price tag is still here. They are completely new.”

“That isn’t enough to prove that they are new!” Mikayla snorted. “Jerome, if you’re trying to two- tíme me, can you at least find out what I like? Otherwise, don’t bother. Just ignore me like you always do!”

Jerome’s patience vanished immediately upon her mocking insults. “Fine, it’s my fault then! I don’t give a damn about what you think!” Visibly sullen, he stomped out of the room.

Infuriated, Mikayla hurled the velvet box into the trash can as well. Jerome was really a bastard. How could he give her something that was meant for Kylie? Did he think she’d stoop that low for

him, as if she would just gladly accept anything he offered?

Her fury grew the more she pondered on it. As she kicked the trash can in a fit of rage, the earrings tumbled out from it and glimmered under the light.

Initially, Mikayla thought of trampling them and flushed them down the toilet. Taking note of their

exquisite design and the delicate diamonds engraved on them, she picked them up. It’d be a

waste to just flush them down the toilet. They cost an arm and a leg, after all.

Still, money was what mattered most. Mikayla decided to sell the earrings on the internet.

Connor felt intimidated by Jerome. He sat with him in a café, brooding in silence.

“Jay, stop it! You’re scaring me. Though I admit that I’m only treating you for you to go easy on me, I’ve worked my ass off for this proposal. I pulled two consecutive all–nighters-”

“Don’t all women like presents? Why was she so mad after I gave her a present?” Jerome suddenly asked.

Connor was relieved that Jerome wasn’t mad at his proposal because it was subpar. Patting his chest in relief, he inquired, What did you give Mikayla?”

“A pair of earrings.”

“What design was it? Was she mad because she hated the design?”

“If I knew, I wouldn’t have asked you!” Jerome was seething. He meant good to give her a present, yet she lashed out at him in return.

Comforting him, Connor said, “Alright, Jay, chill. Tell me what happened. I can surely tell you why she got mad.”

Jerome was awash in dread. Impatiently, he told Connor what happened that morning.

“She said she doesn’t want something that belongs to someone else. The earrings were new! How on earth did they belong to someone else?”

“Jay, It seems pretty clear to me.” Connor was impressed by how dense he was. “Mikayla asked you when you bought them because she thought the earrings weren’t meant for her. It seemed more like you were compensating her for the guilt you felt after you went to the hospital.

“Jay, why didn’t you pick something for her since you wanted to buy her a gift? You gave her someone else’s present and you couldn’t say it to her face, thus the misunderstanding.” Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Jerome glared at Connor.
