Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Gwendolyn curved her lips into a smile, her eyes shimmering with gratitude as she glanced at Howard.
Turning to Alberta and Valor, she said. “Mr. Peterson, I’ve come across this wellness recipe. Not sure if it’ll do wonders, but would you like to give it a shot?”
“Yes!”
Valor bellowed with conviction.
Alberta sighed heavily, another one of the wellness recipe. She couldn’t count the number of remedies they’d tried.
“Let’s exchange contact information, and I’ll send it to you later,” Gwendolyn suggested, pulling out her smartphone. Valor eagerly added her, saving her as “Fairy Gwen” in his phone.
Gwendolyn walon
typed out a lengthy wellness recipe and sent it to him with a list of
precautions. Valor treated it like a treasure. If Alberta hadn’t intervened, he would have transferred a cool million to Gwendolyn on the spot.
“Thank you! If I get better, I’ll write you an appreciation letter!”
“That recipe is something I read about in a book and I can’t guarantee its effectiveness. Just give it a try.” She wanted to help Valor without putting Howard in a difficult position.
It was baffling why the doctors in Bayridge City couldn’t cure such an illness.
Valor nodded and left with his phone, a satisfied grin on his face.
Once outside, Alberta rapped his head sharply. “Idiot. Do you even believe something you read in a book? Next time you overdose and end up in the hospital, don’t blame me!”
Alberta didn’t believe Gwendolyn had any real skill. The last time Gwendolyn had saved her son must have been a fluke.
“I’d rather die trying! Mom, just let me have this hope,” Valor murmured. Deep down, he didn’t believe Gwendolyn could cure his ailment either. It was all about having something to hold onto.
Back in the living room.
Howard’s deep–set eyes held a teasing glint as they swept over Gwendolyn again and again, as if undressing her with his gaze.
Feeling the pressure, Gwendolyn hurriedly explained, “The recipe works slowly and requires long–term use. I haven’t revealed too much, and you did agree to let me treat you.”
The two words he had written in the palm of her hand were “Go ahead.”
Once Valor was healed, Howard would likely be standing tall again, and then there would be no

need for secrets after the divorce.
“I’m just curious how you can treat such conditions,” Howard said casually.
Gwendolyn clenched her skirt, her hesitation only fueling Howard’s curiosity. He wheeled his Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
chair closer to her.
Blushing, Gwendolyn stepped back, “Mr. Chadwick, there’s no need to worry. The medicine I’ve been giving you includes tonics for vital energy and kidney health. I understand it’s something men care about. Don’t take Valor’s words to heart. The accident didn’t affect you that much. Just keep taking the medicine to replenish your vitality.”
Howard couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity.
So, the medicine he’d been drinking was spiked!
He reached out, grabbing her wrist with a fierce grip and pulling her close.
“Do you often hear men discuss such matters?” he asked through gritted teeth. “Who taught you to add those specific ingredients? Do you have any idea what a man with surging vitality might do?”
He had thought it was the nonsense Nathan had been spouting that made him lose control so easily.
Cursing his weakened self–discipline post–accident, Howard hadn’t realized it was her doing all along. She had boldly decided to treat his sexual deficiency as well.
Gwendolyn found herself pressed close to him, her chest heaving, cheeks flushed with a rosy tint.
“I I’m a doctor! This is all very normal!” Replying, Gwendolyn pried his fingers off her wrist. Avoiding his penetrating eyes as she added in a fluster, “I’ll be in the kitchen preparing the medicine.”
Her escape was hasty and disheveled.
Howard took a deep breath, trying to contain his irritation.
Why was he getting worked up with an innocent girl?
