Chapter 12
Chapter 12
“Hey, it’s okay, don’t cry.” Nicolette was brimming with tears, her voice aged and choked with emotion, “Gemma, that’s your own flesh and blood. Don’t force her. Gwendolyn has had a tough life since she was born.” she pleaded.
She couldn’t fathom how Gemma had come to this.
“She hands over the stuff, I’ll let go. Otherwise…” Gemma clenched her fist tightly, gripping Nicolette’s arm mercilessly.
Gwendolyn, at the sight of this, jabbed another needle into Vivien’s shoulder, and Vivien felt half her body go numb with paralysis.
“Gemma, save me!” Vivien was terrified.
Gwendolyn enunciated each word deliberately. “Let us go.”
The tension was palpable. The taut string was on the verge of snapping, the atmosphere heavy and still.
It was then that Herman finally stood up, his face full of disgust, “Kiddo, if you’re trying to out–cruel me, you’re still green.”
He grabbed Nicolette’s head and slammed it against the wall.
Nicolette’s face twisted in pain from the impact, and she could barely utter a sound.
Gwendolyn was about to burst with rage, her heart felt like it was tearing apart, “Stop!”
“Bring out the documents, and we let her go. Don’t play smart with me. I’ve been a shark in the business world for years.” His resolve was unyielding. Vivien had to marry into the Bainbridge
clan.
At that moment, there was a commotion in the yard, and the security guard rushed in.
“Mr. Sawyer, Howard is here!”
Had Howard arrived?
Herman let go, straightened his clothes, and said arrogantly, “His arrival changes nothing.” Just a crippled man about to be cast out by the family was no real threat.
“He’s brought a hundred men!” The security guard was panic–stricken, “And they all look tough
as nails.”
As soon as he finished speaking, burly men in suits and sunglasses flooded the living room, their presence intimidating.
The man in the middle sat in a wheelchair, his pale face was sharp, carrying an air of
presumptuous arrogance.
Some men, even with disabled legs, shone like the moon above, untouchable as the flowers on

high cliffs.
Vivien was dazed. This man should have been hers.
“Mr. Howard, what do you mean? Invading a private residence with a crowd is illegal and I can call the police,” Herman said, starting to panic at the sight of so many men.
Howard swept his indifferent gaze across the room, landing on the pitiful Gwendolyn.
Where was his ferocity when he was getting his pants ripped off?
“I’m here to take my wife home, any problems?” His lips barely moved as he spoke.
The formidable bodyguards pushed aside Vivien and Gemma, leading Gwendolyn and Nicolette over. Gwendolyn couldn’t help but let the tears roll down her face when she saw him.
“Nicolette has been hit. We need to go to the hospital.” She checked the pulse. Nicolette’s injuries weren’t severe. It was just an old ailment, difficult to reverse.
“Let’s go.”
His voice was
calm.
Gwendolyn helped Nicolette into the car, the driver following closely behind with Howard’s wheelchair, turning back to warn the Sawyer family, “I haven’t been disowned by the Chadwick family yet and it’s not your turn to run wild.”
Herman trembled with rage, waiting to see how Howard would run rampant in the future!
Everyone left the Sawyer family.
The bodyguards lined up to board the coach parked at the entrance of the gated community.
Gwendolyn looked at him curiously, full of questions. Howard was wealthy enough to maintain so many bodyguards, organized and disciplined, even providing a coach for transport.
Was this the brazen trump card of Howard? This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Those people…” She hesitated.
Howard, as serene as a clear and bright moonlit sky, turned his head and said nonchalantly, “Actors hired from the film studio.”
