Under Gwendolyn’s puzzled gaze, he stretched out his hand, resting it upon the hem of her dress. With a gentle tug, he pulled a corner of the fabric, Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“You’re showing,” he said, his voice restrained and calm.

Gwendolyn glanced down and quickly pulled her skirt over her knees, murmuring, “You better sit back down in your wheelchair before Marina catches us.”

The lingering warmth on her thigh left a tingling sensation, prompting her to tighten her posture.

Feeling the awkwardness in the air, Gwendolyn hastily changed the subject. “Mr. Chadwick, you can only stand for short periods right now. You need to take proper care of yourself, and I’ve got a rehabilitation plan for you.”

She believed he would return to his old self when completing the rehabilitation.

“I’ll listen to you.” Howard slowly settled back into his wheelchair. His gaze was serene, but his fingers absentmindedly stroked the armrest. “You should get some rest. Jeannie might get scared tonight. I’ll stay with her. Good night!”

“Hmm.”

Howard watched her ascend the stairs with light, quick steps.

The next day, Nathan sent a suit and jewelry early in the morning, along with an entire styling and makeup team.

Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, Jeannie looked at the luxury gift boxes in the living room. and felt her head spin.

She slowly turned to Howard and Gwendolyn and asked, “Howard, Gwen, did you just say we’re going to Grandpa’s 70th birthday party? I didn’t mishear, did 1?”

She suspected she was still hungover, hearing things.

“Nope,” Howard replied indifferently.

Jeannie stepped forward, felt his forehead, and said, “Are you okay? Why are you talking nonsense so early? It’s not happening, is it?”

“Do you want to go?” Howard asked.

Jeannie shook her head vehemently but looked troubled.

Instinctively, she didn’t want to go, but she feared that Howard and Gwendolyn might be bullied. One was in a wheelchair, the other seemingly too delicate to protect herself.

“Howard, do you regret cutting ties with the Chadwick family? If you do, it isn’t the Docasion to make amends. Do you know how many people will be there tonight?”

Everyone in Bayridge City’s high society would be present!

Jeannie plended, “Bainbridge will surely humiliate you. You hit his crony yesterday. He won’t let that slidel Why even go looking for trouble?”

To her, it was like walking into the lion’s den.

“I’m not going to make peace,” Howard corrected her.

“Then you’re going to crash the party? That’s worse! The party will be full of professional bodyguards. How could one Cliff possibly take on so many trained fighters!”

Gwendolyn intervened, “Jeannie, it’s fine. If you’re scared, stay home.”

“Gwen, you don’t understand the gravity of the situation.”

Jeannie was genuinely anxious. Their parents had gone out traveling again, leaving no one to talk sense into them.

“Do you want to go?” Howard asked, his expression calm.

Seeing their stubbornness, Jeannie clenched her teeth and said firmly, “I’m not going!”

She planned to call her parents, who were away traveling, telling them to rush back and prepare to clean up the mess.

At six in the evening, the only seven–star hotel in Bayridge City was booked exclusively for Warren’s grand 70th birthday celebration.

Phoenix Luxe Stay, located in the heart of Bayridge City, was constructed with ninety thousand tons of steel and suspended in the air.

As dusk fell and the city neon lights flickered on, the hotel resembled a floating palace, stunning and luxurious beyond compare!
