Chapter 147
Read Omega’s Possession by Jessica Hall Book 2 Chapter 45 – Harlow
I knew the moment the needle pierced my skin that it wasn’t Corbin’s serum. My skin tingled, a familiar sensation only given by my mates. I could taste him on the tip of my tongue, taste Thane, not Corbin.
Leo moves to undo my restraints. His hands moving quickly, but not quick enough when Corbin rips me off the bed impatiently. Leo yells at him to stop as one ankle remained restrained-
Leo makes quick work of the cuff before Corbin
takes off. Running for the stairs. My surroundings blur as I try to adjust my vision. My eyes catching everything and nothing, and I find it quite distracting as if I am on drugs.
Were Thane’s senses like this, so much more heightened than I ever imagined them to be. It made my eyesight from before almost seem dull as I picked up even the dust motes in the air. When Corbin reaches the top of the stairs. He stops peering out.
“We’ll head for the tunnels, here, take her.” Corbin turns thrusting me at Leo, then he peers back out the door. It sounded like utter chaos outside. Yet I could feel them, all of them moving closer.
Corbin waves for Leo to follow him and darts toward the library. However, Leo places me on my
feet. He grips my arm as I wobble from vertigo. Yeah, this was a strange feeling. Almost like walking with no gravity. Each step I had to calculate, I would never complain about being Omega again if this is what it is like all the time for Alphas.
“Quick!” Corbin orders. I step out the door when I hear a growl. My head whips in Corbin’s direction. His eyes on me, standing beside Leo and no longer in his arms.
“What are you doing?” Corbin snarls while I try to sense watch direction my mates are in.
“It’s over Corbin.” Leo growls threateningly. Corbin’s aura rushes out, and I knew he was going to order Leo. However, Leo rushes him, tackling him to the ground.
“Harlow run!” Leo snarls at me just as Corbin kicks him off. Leo goes flying into the wall and I back up, stumbling slightly as Corbin gets to his feet. Instinct kicks in within seconds, and I turn running for where all the noise is coming from, knowing that is my mates.
My feet slap the cold tiled floors as I try to navigate the mansion without falling on my face. Corbin is hot on my heels as I slide across the floors and into a statue. My eyes scanning and blurring as I try to get used to my new senses. Seeing a set of stairs. leading down, I take them. Skipping some in my haste, I trip on the runner, face planting to the floor and find myself inside some kitchen area.
Pushing up off my hands, Corbin jumps from the landing above, and I scramble to my feet just as another explosion goes off, making me duck as the windows shatter. Before I could race for one, Corbin grips my hair, jerking me backward. I land flat on my back, my head bouncing off the tiles with a sickening crack.
“I’m going to f***king kill you!” Corbin growls when my claws slip from my fingertips. They rake down his face and I roll as he rears back, escaping his grip. Corbin, clutches his face, getting to my knees. I hear the cracking and snapping of bones. My eyes widen, and he lunges at me, only to be tackled by a huge wolf.
My scream is loud and visceral as the two wolves clash. Yet it must be Leo’s because I know the wolf isn’t my mate. Turning, I try to run for the huge bay windows, intent to run straight through the broken, jagged glass. One thing on my mind only, and that is to get outside.
Rushing past the kitchen, I don’t see her until the last second, and I see the fry pan just before it hits me square in the face and knocks me on my a**s, momentarily all I see is black, my ears ringing as the
sound of thud rattled through my skull. The clang of metal hitting the floor, makes my eyes fly open to see Bree.
She is standing over me, a sadistic smile on her lips. I snarl just as I hear a whimper behind me and crash. Yet my focus is on Bree as she smiles wickedly, stalking closer. At the last second, I lift my foot, kicking her in her nasty vagina. She grunts but doesn’t drop as a man would. Yet that is enough for me to get to my feet, only to hear a threatening growl come up behind me.
Turning side on, I am trapped with Corbin on one. side, Leo naked on the floor by the stairs trying to get back up, and Bree on the other. Bree snatches a blade off the knife rack.
Corbin’s wolf’s claws click on the floor, drool and blood seeping onto the tiles as he stalks me, just as Bree slashes me with the knife. I twist, catching the blade on my arm instead of across my chest, just as Corbin rips into my thigh, making me scream.
He shakes his head just as Bree plunges the blade into my side. I gasp when Corbin suddenly let’s go when he is tackled into the island bench. I am tossed, also hitting the fridge from the momentum. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Blinking and groaning, I try to get to my feet, only for Bree to kick me in the face. My head snaps back, and I see Thane’s wolf ripping into Corbin’s fleetingly. My nose is bleeding and my eyes sting when she goes to kick me again.
My senses catch the movement, hyper-focused on it like time suddenly stilled as my hands move without thinking, gripping her ankle. She shrieks as I twist it and loses her balance.
She falls backward, and I pull the blade from my side. Gasping at the h*rrendous pain just as she rises to her feet. One foot off the ground when she shifts and lunges at me.
I try to shift, yet my injuries prevent it as she collides with me. I slam against the counter as she tears into my neck. A gasp leaves my lips as I choke on blood when the movement halts, and she wheezes. Her
body is forced to shift back as I choke on my own blood.
Blinking, my vision dulls and flickers to Bree on top of me, naked, blood spilling and dribbling down her chin. Her eyes were wide as she gasped and choked for air, and each breath stuttered. Her hands clutch mine feebly, making my eyes fall to see the knife in her chest.
With whatever strength is left to muster, I shove her off, my bleeding not stemming even as I clutch my neck. I stagger to my feet, my surroundings shifting on their axis as I fall into the island bench. I felt like I was walking on the moon, my vision doubling as I made my way toward Thane. His wolf tore Corbin’s intestines out and spilled them onto the floor. Unraveling them like spaghetti, one is his legs completely torn off, lying next to Leo, who clutches his chest, pale as a ghost as his Alpha dies.
My heartbeat sounds loud in my ears, each beat sounding louder than the last. I pull my hand back from my neck, my hand covered in blood, and out of the corner of my eye, I see it spurt. I clamp my hand back over the wound and feel my eyes roll into my head just as Thane’s huge wolf turns.
The roar that leaves him forever engrained in my memory, my soul, and every aspect of my being as death takes me. “Scarlet….” I murmur, wanting my daughter, her face, just once more as I feel the coldness seep into my bones as I feel my body drain of life. The motion of falling but not feeling the impact.
I blink up at the ceiling, eyes growing heavier, exhaustion wrapping around my limbs, when Thane’s face appears in my line of vision. His lips were moving, yet I was deaf to my surroundings, yet he was here. Thane came for me like I knew he would, knew they all would. His lips move as he tries to talk to me before I see him screaming.
His hands trying to hold my neck together. I wanted to tell him it was ok, that it didn’t hurt. I don’t know if I spoke the words or only thought them as I peered up at him. My eyes lose focus just as Leon’s face comes into view, and everything darkens.
That familiar cold sensation slivers up my spine, entangles my nerves, and stiffens my bones. The only sound I manage to hear I focus on.
