NIRVANA
Asina was a badass.
I would never have thought it was possible, and she did it without my permission-the gift I had inside me, sometimes a curse.
The pain I had felt was indescribable. It felt like an agony exploded in my entire body, but that is what I traded for- for Knight to survive.
The moment my chest constricted, I knew something terrible had happened to him.
“Alpha, we have a problem.” I heard Kaleb come in with urgency in his voice.
My eyes were closed, and my body seemed awake but dormant, like I was hibernating to regain my strength. I heard them talk, their heartbeats, and the anxiousness in their voices. I smelled their fear, too, but feeling the warmth in Knight’s hand against my own was soothing.
“What’s the problem?” Knight’s hand was gone, and his heartbeat was racing.
“A group of werewolves are attacking us northeast of the vineyards, clawing the barrier and trying to get inside the walls.”
“That’s impossible. I put a shield around us,” Zarah said. She sounded worried.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
“Exactly, and they know there’s a shield, but how long would it hold?” Kaleb replied.
“Who are in there? I need to help them.” The bed shook. Knight must have tried to get up.
“Are you kidding me?” Zarah grunted. I could feel the irritation in her voice. “You just came out from a terrible fall because you let your rage rule you. And you almost died, Knight. Stay put, and let them do the job.”
“Zarah, you know I can’t do that. I need to be there to help my people.” Of course, his pack was his priority.
“Oh, boy. You’re just like Califf. Stubborn and hard-headed.”
“I’m fine. I can shift. I’m stronger in my wolf form.”
“You’re not going anywhere, Alpha,” Luka said.
“Oh, yeah? Who’s going to stop me? I’m the alpha and will do what’s necessary to help my pack not get killed.”
“Our enforcers and Dane are already on their way. I’m going too,” Luka said.
“No. You and Zarah will stay here to watch Nirvana. Kaleb and I are going.”
“I can help, Alpha,” Luka insisted.
“You follow my order, Luka. Stay and protect Zarah and my mate.”
“If something happens to you, I will not help. I’m done. You stubborn idiot,” Zarah grunted.
The door slammed open, and an intense fear reached my nostrils. It came from Kailin. “Guys, it’s bad. There are at least twenty werewolves against eight of our enforcers. I’m going to help them.”
Rather than terror, a wave of calmness swept over me. My eyes fluttered open. I sat on the bed. Hearing them gasp and felt their eyes on me, I slid my ass off the bed and searched for the dagger.
“Nirvana.” It was the first word I heard, and it came from Knight. “What are you doing?”
I found my boots beside the bed, and the dagger was still there. “Help our pack.”
My heart raced. I closed my eyes and headed Northeast.
Maybe I was too ahead of myself. Slightly disoriented, I ended up landing on my ass, and I felt the grass against my feet. “Shit. I forgot my shoes.”
Striding deliberately, I felt the waves of power running through me as I swung the dagger, aiming at the wolf pinning down a brown wolf- it was West. The bad wolf’s neck opened, blood dripping down on West. He didn’t take any chances and bit the wolf’s neck to make sure it was dead.
I was fully charged. Asina’s power made my heart pump hard as the claws of the sandy she-wolf behind me extended.
I whipped my head around, barely dodging. It was just a thread to my shoulder. I felt the air rustling and the hair standing behind my neck before I fisted my hand and charged a punch against the she-wolf’s jaw.
A big and tall brown-reddish wolf lunged against the sandy wolf, tearing off the leg before he clawed it in the stomach.
“Who might you be?”
Proud of what he did, he showed me his fangs. The blood of the sandy wolf tickled down his mouth. Then those stormy cold eyes as death looked familiar.
“Dane? Thanks.”
He growled before he ran towards another wolf.
I hurled the dagger at another wolf’s neck. He fell to the ground and died instantly. Then I felt something and caught the most alluring scent.
I glanced behind me. His presence caught everyone’s attention as he approached me in his robust, tall gray wolf. His stride was powerful.
My heart skipped a beat. I felt pride in my chest for a second, as if this was my alpha and my mate. Oh, and my husband.
His eyes narrowed at me, showing me how furious he was before he took his stance and ran at the incoming black wolf. The moment the black wolf charged, I knew his target wasn’t Knight. It aimed directly in my direction. Knight skidded to a stop and turned back to me.
The black wolf lunged at me. Shivers skated through my spine as the power pulsed through me. His claws hadn’t reached my skin. I slammed my fist, aiming at his abdomen.
Time hindered. He hung in the air, and I saw the surprise in the wolf’s eyes before he flew away. His back landed against the tree, cracking, snapping, echoing, and flying debris shredded through him. The shockwave flipped through my hair.
I was still looking at the aftermath when I heard a growl behind me. A sudden cry tore off my throat as the claws ripped across my back. The dagger fell off my hand.
Pain exploded through my body, blood tickling on my shirt.
A growl filled with rage erupted from Knight. As Asina’s power made me feel more alive, I whipped around and flung myself forward. With one swift blow, I punched my fist against the wolf’s head, hitting it on the ground before his body followed. His skull crashed, and he died on the spot.
I picked the dagger on the ground as the musky scent of Knight filled my lungs. The howls of my pack filled my heart. Kaleb picked up the last wolf attacker.
The attacker shifted back, still alive, but had a bite on his left leg.
“Let’s bring him for questioning.” My order made Knight shoot a glare at me. “Burn the rest.”
We entered through the back gate. The pack already shifted and put on their sweatpants.
“What the fuck, Nirvana?” He grabbed me by my arm, gripping me tight.
I huffed and rolled my eyes before I faced him. “Are you okay?”
“You’re asking me when you have claw marks on your back.” He looked more worried than angry, his eyes glowing. Though I could feel his rage, he was more concerned about my wound.
“It will heal.”
“You should let Zarah see it,” Kailin said calmly, wearing Dane’s shirt.
“It’s fine. I feel it’s already healing.”
“Are you trying to ignore me? I’m your alpha, Nirvana. Obey.” He used his alpha voice, his green eyes flashing with anger. “You can’t just jump into the battle without a plan and knowing the situation. And you just came from a deep sleep. You’re incapable of fighting. See what happened when you just rushed into the center of the fight. It gets you killed.”
“My bad. I’m just trying to help the pack, Alpha. It won’t happen again.”
“Can you jump? Get back to the infirmary.”
“Sure. See you later.” I smiled before I disappeared in front of him. I landed just before my bed.
“What happened?” Zarah rushed to me and inspected my back. “Take off your top. Let me see how bad it is.”
“I’m healing.” I looked over my shoulder.
“Yeah. You are. How did you get hurt?”
“It’s the repercussions for saving Knight.” I took off the pajama top. I didn’t realize what I wore until I was back in the infirmary.
The door swung open. My pissed-off husband walked in. “What repercussions?”
“Shit.”
