“Once again you speak the words, ‘Mr. Handsome,’ Donna,” Alpha Killian growled deep within his mind. The inexplicable bond he felt towards her, the sense of closeness, now made sense. She was his blood. How had he missed out on all this?
With this revelation, Alpha Killian reached out and gently patted Donna’s head. “Donna…”
“Hmm?”
But the words got stuck in his throat, fearing that the truth would scare her away before Nelly had the chance to explain.
“Just know that I will be kind to you for the rest of your life. If you ever need anything, just tell me. Okay?” he smiled.
Donna’s delight was overwhelming, yet she tried to contain her excitement. Could this be her father’s way of promising to protect her? Perhaps he already knew the truth and just couldn’t say it yet. She had to keep her secret hidden, for her mother’s sake.
Nodding eagerly, Donna whispered, “I believe you, Mr. Handsome! I like you very much too!”NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
Alpha Killian fought the urge to embrace her tightly, to shower her with affection. “I like you very much too!”
Donna beamed like a child who had just been offered sweets. All she wanted was to feel loved by Alpha Killian, to be embraced by him.
“Now, get some rest. I will go visit your mother at the hospital,” Alpha Killian said, rising and making his way toward the door.
“Nelly can be hot-tempered, so please be patient with her, Mr. Handsome. Promise you won’t get mad at her, okay?” Donna reminded him suddenly.
Turning around with a smile, Alpha Killian nodded. “Okay, I promise. Good night.”
“Good night!”
As Alpha Killian closed the door behind him, Donna collapsed onto her bed.
Oh, my… I can’t believe I am sleeping in Daddy’s room right now! Daddy said he likes me and will be kind to me from now on! I am so excited I can’t sleep!
A smile played on Alpha Killian’s lips as he faintly heard Donna’s giggles from outside the door.
Feeling a mix of hesitation and determination, he glanced at Ben’s room door and made his way over.
Before he could knock, Ben opened the door from inside.
Their eyes met, and Alpha Killian realized he couldn’t express the same love and affection toward Ben as he did with Donna.
“Are you leaving?” he asked, the awkwardness evident in his voice.
“Nelly is alone at the hospital, and I am worried about her,” Ben admitted.
“And you plan to go alone?”
Ben didn’t deny it.
Alpha Killian couldn’t imagine the challenges they faced while Nelly raised them alone. It pained him to see them worry about her.
“In fact, that’s why I came to talk to you. I will visit your mother at the hospital, so I need you to stay home and take care of your sister,” Alpha Killian explained.
Ben looked up at him, no words escaping his lips.
“Your great-grandfather cares a lot about you two. You should stay here and keep him company,” Alpha Killian suggested.
“Got it,” Ben replied with a nod.
Alpha Killian hesitated for a moment, then reached out and patted his head. “It’s late. Get some rest.”
Feeling a mix of discomfort and excitement, Ben allowed himself to be comforted by this touch, something he hadn’t experienced from any man besides Alpha Wade.
Alpha Killian made his way downstairs as Ben watched, raising an eyebrow.
Alpha King Larry had just finished a phone call when he turned and spotted Alpha Killian descending the stairs. “Are you going to the hospital?”
Alpha Killian nodded.
“That’s the spirit! This is your chance to make a move, so give it your all! Who knows, maybe Nelly will soften towards you,” Alpha King Larry chuckled.
“I have nothing to give my all to. I’m going because Donna is worried about her,” Alpha Killian replied awkwardly.
Alpha King Larry’s disdainful expression revealed his thoughts. “Look at you and your stubbornness… Well, whatever. Nelly is exceptional, and you’ll regret it later on.”
Alpha Killian pursed his lips, hesitating before asking, “What did Old Mr. Jackson say to you when you went out today?”
Alpha King Larry raised an eyebrow. “Nothing much. He simply pitied the kids. It hurt to hear that.”
“That’s it?”
Alpha King Larry nodded. “Yeah.”
“If that’s the case, then aren’t you being a little excessive with your displays of affection?” Alpha Killian inquired.
“What’s wrong with showing those kids some love? Don’t tell me you think they’re your children?” Alpha King Larry snapped.
“No, I know they are,” Alpha Killian stated firmly.
Alpha King Larry burst into laughter. “Have you lost your mind with your desperation to have children? They’re not yours, so stop overthinking it!”
But Alpha Killian remained resolute. “I don’t know what deal you made with Old Mr. Jackson, but I know for certain they are my children. Your attitude towards them only confirms it.”
Unsure of what to say, Alpha King Larry fell silent for a moment before arguing, “I’m just showing them affection because I sympathize with them. You’re reading too much into it.”
