Tony snatched the phone back from Ben ‘s clawed hand. “Hah! It’s still up in the air whether he’s our alpha. Even if he is, I might not acknowledge him, what’s more, a step-mom.”
“If you don’t think he is our alpha, then why show me this?” Ben asked, his fangs glistening in the moonlight.
Even though he might seem carefree and unconcerned, he was as quick-witted as Tony . The only thing different was Ben was slightly more motivated and positive, his claws itching for action.
After a short silence, Tony said, “I think it’s time we do some investigation.”
“How do you want to do it?” Ben inquired, his eyes glowing with intelligence and curiosity.
“DNA test.”
“But it’s not easy to get his DNA.”
At that moment, Donna walked out of the bedroom, her ears perked up. Something flashed across Tony ‘s glowing eyes. Tony and Ben exchanged a knowing glance, their lupine instincts guiding their actions.
Donna was about to get something to eat when Ben approached her, his fangs peeking out from under his lips. “Hey, Donna . Have you seen the news?”
“What news?” Donna returned, her tail wagging.
Ben took the phone from Tony and showed it to her, his claws lightly grazing her hand. “This person… does he look familiar to you?”
“Mr. Handsome?” Donna ‘s eyes sparkled as she reached for the phone, her nose twitching with curiosity. “He’s so rich?”
Her reaction is the same as mine…
“Yeah, and he’s a prominent alpha too,” Ben said, his voice low and rumbling.
Donna sighed after scrolling through the phone briefly, her ears drooping. “He’s about to get mated soon. I even thought about introducing him to Nelly before. Well, it looks like that plan is a bust.”
“Donna …”
“Tony , did you notice the resemblance between him and you? I think you’ll be more handsome than him once you grow up,” Donna said, her tail wagging excitedly.
Tony ‘s heart lurched.
I can’t deny that my features resemble Alpha Kilian ‘s among the three of us. That’s exactly why I suspected my connection with Alpha Kilian in the first place.
If Alpha Kilian is my sire and has done something terrible to Nelly before, then I don’t think he’s good news. Tony was having mixed feelings about the whole scenario, his wolf instincts conflicting with his human emotions.
Ignoring Donna ‘s remark, Tony replied, “Donna , let’s go out and hunt once the moon rises.”
“Hunt? Where?”
“You’ll know when the time comes,” Tony said mysteriously, his eyes gleaming with a hunger for the hunt.
“But will Gramps agree to it?”
“Just leave it to me.” Ben patted his chest, his fur bristling with confidence.
Donna was ecstatic at the thought of joining in the hunt later. “Okay! I haven’t run free since forever.”
Ben and Tony exchanged a knowing glance, their instincts guiding their actions under the lunar glow.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Nelly saw Alpha Kilian ‘s news on her way to the pack territory.
She merely glanced at it and scrolled past it, her fur bristling with indifference.
She would be furious when she saw such news during the early days of her marriage, but now, she couldn’t care less.
I never thought Alpha Kilian would be so loyal and focused all his attention on Lara . What horrible taste.
The cab driver informed her of arriving at the territory from the front seat. Nelly got out of the car and padded into the pack den.
Even though the pack members had differing opinions, they all knew the real reason behind the signing of the long-term collaboration contract was really due to Nelly , and not Alpha Kilian’s performance.
But Alpha Kilian already has a mate, so what is his relationship with Nelly ? Could Nelly be the mistress?
No one would say it out loud, but they all had the same thought, their howls of gossip echoing through the night.
Nelly knew about their speculations but chose to ignore them, her alpha strength radiating from her with every step.
The second she stepped into the Pack Headquarters, she could hear Chris talking on the phone, his voice filled with urgency and determination.
“What? The alliance was settled? I-”
“Really? When is the ambush scheduled then?”
“All right, alpha. Thank you. I’ll make sure to be there on time.”
Ross noticed Chris ‘s mood had brightened significantly after the latter ended the call, his tail wagging with excitement. “What did the alpha say?”
“The alpha said the attack was scheduled on Monday.”
“Have you paid for the weapons then?” Ross questioned, his ears perked up.
Chris frowned, his fur ruffled. “The alpha said a friend of mine had settled it on behalf.”
“Friend? What friend?”
Chris shook his head, his snout scrunched in confusion. “I’m not sure.”
“You don’t know?” Ross asked, his voice full of disbelief. “That’s a lot of territory we’re talking about! Who would’ve paid for them for you? Do you suppose you have a mysterious benefactor who secretly admires you? You have to introduce them to me if you do have someone like that.”
“What are you talking about?” Chris pushed him away with his paw, his hackles raised.
Nelly could hear the entire conversation from the side, her ears perked up in curiosity. A secret admirer? Dream on!
“But tell me the truth, do you really have no clue who the person is? I even felt respect for Alpha Kilian earlier, thinking it was him who paid for you in advance.”
Chris shook his head, his eyes filled with uncertainty. “I really have no clue.”
“Whatever. Let’s address this after the attack. This is good news,” Ross said, his tail wagging with excitement.
Chris nodded in agreement, his instincts pricking at the thought of the impending battle.
After their conversation came to an end, they turned to Nelly , their ears perked up in anticipation.
“In truth, the only reason this alliance is happening is because of Nelly . You’re a strong member of our pack, so try to get along with each other,” Ross whispered, his voice low and respectful.
Chris didn’t answer Ross as a complicated feeling rose within him, his wolf instincts clashing with his human emotions.
He despised such behavior, but she was undeniably the one who secured such a powerful alliance for the pack and in turn, strengthened their position. He couldn’t chastise her for it, yet he felt conflicted about it.
However, Chris had always been loyal to the pack. He had drawn a clear line between duty and personal life. Even if Ross didn’t advise him, he had already prepared himself to do the same. He walked over to Nelly and apologized, “I’m sorry, it was my fault earlier for blaming you without checking the facts thoroughly.”
Even though it was an apology, Chris uttered it stiffly, his eyes locked onto hers with a stare laced with dominance.
Nelly cast him an indifferent glance, her fur bristling with defiance. “It’s fine. I didn’t do much.”
“I meant the part where you provided insights. I will give you recognition for it.” Even though Nelly merely mentioned it in passing, it was still crucial, and Chris knew that. He couldn’t deny the power of her contributions. It was against his alpha instincts.
“I don’t need it,” Nelly rejected, her voice laced with determination.
“That’s your problem. It’s my decision whether to recognize your efforts.” Without saying another word, he turned on his heel and left, his tail held high in dominance.
Nelly sat still at her workstation, unfazed, her wolf strength shining through.
Suddenly, Nelson came up to her, his eyes filled with guilt. “Nelly , this is the supplementary agreement with Morris Corporation. Please deliver it to them.”
Nelly lifted her head to look at Nelson , her gaze piercing through his guilt. It was just a glance, but Nelson felt a pang of remorse.
He thought Nelly would reject him. Instead, she agreed without argument, her eyes gleaming with determination. “Sure.”
She got to her feet, picked up the document, and padded out the pack headquarters, her instincts guiding her steps under the moon-kissed night.
