Chapter 66
Chapter 66 Step on Him
"Are you okay, Sharon?" Maria saw that Sharon had been silent for a while and reached out to touch her elbow with concern.
But when she looked up and saw Sharon's somewhat menacing expression, she was taken aback and quickly withdrew her hand.
To her, Sharon had always been innocent and harmless, so she never knew she could make such a terrifying face.
"It must have been my imagination!" she thought.
Sensing Maria's reaction, Sharon quickly composed herself, returning to her usual gentle and kind appearance.
"Miss Wilson is the organizer of today's event. Since Mr. Worthington has won the bonus opportunity to dance with her, he naturally has to follow the original plan. Besides, there are so many people here, and if he backs out now, it would affect his reputation."
Maria observed closely, and upon seeing that Sharon's face still appeared as gentle and kind as ever, she was certain that her eyes must've played tricks on her.
Relieved, she took Sharon's arm and said, "We still need to keep a close eye on Leah. We can't let her steal Mr. Worthington's heart."
Sharon smiled softly. "Quentin is not that kind of person."
Despite that, her gaze remained fixed on the stage, never wavering for a moment.
Onstage, Leah lightly placed her fingertips on Quentin's palm, and there was a faint smile on her lips.
"Quentin, I didn't expect you to be willing to spend one billion dollars just for the chance to dance with me. I'm truly flattered."
Quentin's gaze darkened slightly, and he let out a mirthless chuckle.
"Heh, you have quite the imagination."
Leah twirled around, and her red dress drew an elegant arc in the air.
"Aren't you being dishonest about your feelings?"
"I'm not being dishonest. You just lack self-awareness," Quentin replied with a hint of sternness in his deep gaze. "Do I look like the kind of person who would go back to an ex after a divorce?" Leah raised an eyebrow. "You never know. What if you do exactly that in the future?"
Quentin stared into her eyes and articulated himself clearly. "Get your head out of the clouds. There will never be such a day."
Leah studied him with a smirk. "Is that so?"
Quentin looked at her with indifference. "Focus on dancing and stop talking nonsense."
"This guy sure knows how to pretend," Leah thought.
She rolled her eyes in response but didn't say anything more.
"Sharon, what do you think Leah said to Mr. Worthington? They seem to be chatting so happily," Maria inquired.
"We're sitting together, so how could
I hear what they're saying when you can't?" Sharon answered with a hint of resentment in her voice, jealousy evident in her eyes.
Maria realized she shouldn't have asked that. After a moment's
silence she muttered sheepish.netNôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
"It's okay. The melody is about to end. Let's just wait here."
Sharon sat in her chair, her eyes filled with a grim look once again.
Even though she couldn't stand the sight of Leah and Quentin together, she had to swallow her anger because there was nothing she could do about it.
Meanwhile, the piano music in the hall gradually came to an end.
Just as it was about to finish, Leah, who was standing close to Quentin, looked at him slyly.
Then, she raised her leg and stepped on the back of Quentin's foot with her high heels. "Ouch..."
The sharp pain in his foot made Quentin gasp, and his face paled slightly.
He looked at Leah in dismay, anger bubbling within him.
"Leah!"
However, before he could express his discontentment, Leah's apologetic voice cut him off.
"Mr. Worthington, I'm so sorry. I'm
still learning this dance, so I'm not very familiar with the steps yet and accidentally stepped on you. Are you
okay?" ne
