After Divorcing my Captain Husband (Chloe and Michael)

Chapter 638 A Slight Chill

Chloe was also very shocked when she heard it on her cell phone.

In fact, Lydia was not Richard's lover. The reason he chased her to Mamaica after seeing her once in the country was because Lydia's mother had had an affair with Richard when he was young. Lydia's mother had been an ordinary person and Richard's first love. They had eventually broken up because of family reasons.

Richard later married Wesley's mother but always still had his first love in his heart.

Until this time, meeting Lydia was like meeting his first love again, and he definitely couldn't hold it in.

The father of the baby in Lydia's belly was not Richard, naturally, but an irresponsible, rich man, which was why she had said those things to Candy earlier in the beauty parlor.

Chloe didn't expect things to be so outrageous and took a long time to compose herself before saying, "So is Richard being nice to Lydia now because he's trying to make up for the bad things he did to her mom in the past?" Candy nodded. "Then why didn't he just be nice to her mom?"

Candy rolled her eyes. "Her mom died."

She had been poor, worked several jobs abroad to raise her kid, and then died of overwork.

"So how's Wesley doing now? He didn't hurt his brain, did he?"

Chloe wondered if Richard would regret it if a smart guy like Wesley really hurt his brain over this.

"He's fine. He's just bleeding a little. The doctor said he'll be fine in a couple days."

Chloe was relieved to hear that Wesley was okay.

After all, they were sort of friends. As for all that business with the Jenkins family, she had no intention of meddling in it.

That project that Chloe and Ariana had been working on was now in order. Ariana had fainted that day and went to the hospital because of food poisoning.

Chloe had some guesses. But instead of asking in front of Ariana, she asked William when she got back.

"Did you put something in the things Ariana ate the other day?"

She remembered the dish that had been served to her at the beginning. Maybe there was something wrong with that dish.

William was cooking today's meal for her and Michael. He didn't stop at all when he heard her say that.

"Those things won't put her life in danger, at most she'll be uncomfortable for a few days."

Chloe hadn't expected him to admit it so easily. She had thought he would have lied to her and said he didn't know.

"Why did you do it to her?"

William put down the cleaned-up broccoli. "I thought you said she bullied you at work. This little punishment is what she deserves."

Chloe froze and thought, "Did he do this for me?"

She forced down the uneasiness in her heart and whispered, "William, don't do this kind of thing again."

Chloe and Ariana indeed had some arguments. But what was the difference between her and Ariana if she used the same unseemly tactics as Ariana? William walked over to the faucet and took the broccoli over to wash.

"Chloe, doesn't this broccoli look pretty fresh and clean?"

She wasn't sure why he'd suddenly changed the subject but looked toward the broccoli. "Yes."

"But the broccoli has the most worms on it. If you don't cook it thoroughly in hot water, those worms are hard to wash off its roots."

Chloe frowned. Quite a few people had said that the broccoli was dirty. She hadn't noticed it once, though. It was probably because she didn't cook much. "So, Chloe, something looks clean, but it's actually dirty enough to be washed thoroughly in hot water."

William's tone was calm as if he were simply stating this fact to her.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

But upon closer inspection, there was something stubborn in his eyes that sent a slight chill down Chloe's back.
