Accidentally Married

Branch Seventy One

“Why would you come back to work? You are sick” Xavier said.

“And you are eyeing my position because I am doing very well now,” Dawson said.

Xavier was not angry at his grandfather’s statement. It was just that he had to leave work because of his health and now he was saying he would resume back.

“Papa I would never eye your position,” Xavier said. “But how do you expect me to allow you to get back to work when you can barely walk around on your own”

“I don’t need to work to get the work done,” Dawson said countering his standpoint.

“Gilbert, book a flight to Aurora Haven,” Dawson said addressing the man pushing him.

“Mr. Gilbert did not take a step from that spot,” Xavier said his voice firm.

“Gilbert you work for me and not for Xavier here,” Dawson told him. “Hurry along”

“Papa tell Gilbert to wait and not go please,” Xavier said in a sad voice.

His grandfather wanted to go on a trip to Aurora Haven when he was not even in the right state to move from room to room. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

Dawson raises his hand to stop Gilbert and he goes to stand in a corner. If Gilbert was being honest he had missed his job and the trivialities of Xavier and Dawson.

“Why are you going to Aurora Haven? You aren’t well enough to make the trip” Xavier said.

“It’s time to renew our investment status with Ethan Ramirez. I need to go have a meeting with him” Dawson explains.

“I can go for that why don’t you send me?” Xavier asked.

He felt bad that his grandfather had not yet had enough faith in him to trust him with such an important task. What was it that he could not handle?

“I can go, you don’t have to stress yourself on a flight for over six hours just to get an investment” Xavier added.

“If you go he would not sign the contract with you,” Dawson said bowing his head.

“Why won’t he sign with me? I represent the whole Delgado family” Xavier said.

Why would he turn him back if he was their biggest and longest standing investor? Dawson’s words did not make sense to his grandson.

“Well Ethan is a family man and only signs contracts with those who have families and are married”

“I am married” Xavier was quick to say.

Dawson almost felt the smile he felt creep up his face. He had to control himself. Xavier admitting that Jessica was his wife was a good one. He had to push on just so he could the boy to go over and have a well deserved honeymoon.

“You are not married. You already made it clear that she was not your wife” Dawson says.

“I never made anything clear as to that regard.

Since I am married then I believe I can you can send me to get the investment”

“If you are going to be going there then you need to make him know that you really have a wife,” Dawson said feeling his scheme come together.

“What do you want me to do then?” Xavier asked.

If Ethan was so important that his grandfather wanted to go there by himself then he must get that contract by all means.

“You have to take your wife with you”

“Jessica?” Xavier spat her name like it was some poison.

Why did she need to come up when they were discussing work matters?

“Yes, Jessica. If I go there then Ethan would have no problem giving me the contract because he knows that I am married and my wife died early but then in your case, he does not know you or if you are married” Dawson said wheeling himself closer to Xavier.

“Why do I need to take her? I am just telling him that I am married with evidence” Xavier said.

“He would not sign until he sees you are a happy young couple”

“Do I really need to take her?” Xavier continued in questioning.

He hated mixing pleasure and business. He looked up from his grandfather and his eyes locked with Jessica standing there with her hair nearly packed. She cleared her throat when their eyes jammed.

“I did not mean to eavesdrop,” she said making Dawson turn and Gilbert turn his head. He had heard of the woman who married the spoilt little grandson of the Delgado family but he had not seen her physically. She was beautiful and he had to give it to her.

“What do you mean eavesdrop?” Dawson said. “Come on in, this matter concerns you too”

“Concerns me?” she asked taking gentle short and calculated steps.

She hated the look in Xavier’s eyes it was as if she was taking a lot from him and he was not liking it one bit. She hated that he looked at her like that. From what she had overheard she had to travel on a business trip with Xavier.

To be honest she did not want to do that. She was trying to thoroughly purge her system of him and her nostrils of his scent and here Dawson was trying to put them together. She could see the tactics in his plan.

“You have to go with Xavier to Aurora Haven to sign a contract with our biggest investor but he thinks it’s a bad idea” Dawson explained enclosing her hands in his.

“I also think it is a bad idea,” Jessica said immediately.

“Why?”

“I know nothing about business and I think I would only be a nuisance to him and his work. He can go alone and I am sure he would do good work”

Jessica lifted her head to slightly meet his eyes. In his eyes, relief danced. It was as if he did not want her around. She did not want him around either.

Why did she unpack when she was supposed to move out? After the event of the night she had to make sure she moved to another room. Even a blind man could see his reactions and tell his indifference towards her.

“Gilbert pay for the tickets. I guess I have to go myself” Dawson said. He was hoping they would just take pity on him and go. He did not want to go by himself but if they refused to go then he had to just to prove a point.

“I will leave in three days” Dawson murmured rolling his chair away.

Gilbert hurried after him and pushed him.

“Are we to allow him to go on such a long flight?” Jessica asked concerned.

“No,” Xavier said with a sigh.
