Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Thirty Seven

“What?” Jason asked startled at her sudden confession. He was thrown back. What did she mean by what she just said?

She took a deep breath. She was prepared for his worst reaction but she was not sure she could handle it. If it were her she would be very furious too.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

“You won’t move?”

“Would you move if you were me? I would have to leave all my grandparents and parents have built over the years. All I have done to ensure it remains standing”

Jason’s face shows that he is still trying his best to comprehend her words. He was confused. Why did she come to the conclusions and most importantly why did she come to that conclusion?

“Can you do it if you were me? Leave all the produce of this hard work and move across the world?” she asked raising her eyebrow.

Her hand went to his over the table. She covered his with her hand and squeezed it gently. “I love you and I really mean it but…” she said as she trailed off.

“If you love me I don’t see why this should be an issue,” he told her.

“Would you move here instead?” she asked. She could the discomfort visible on his face. “You don’t want to move here? But I’m expected to pack up my entire life and move in with you in a strange and foreign land?”

None of them were eating and their voices were getting louder with each sentence. They were lucky it was not close to dinner time yet else the entire restaurant would be packed up with people and their goes their secrets.

“It’s different. Asking me to come here and all” he tried to explain. He could not even convenience himself. He felt he was not being fair but the thought of him packing up the centuries worth of work and moving here was absurd and his parents must never hear of it.

Alicia was one who was known in the high society circle and she was not favored because of her high drive to work and succeed in the business field, unlike the other ladies. If his parents heard him say he wanted to move it would be more reasons for them to oppose the relationship and tell him to break it off as soon as he could.

“How is it different?” she asked plopping her hand on the table and resting her chin on it. “You are a person who owns a business and I am just the same as you. If you can’t leave yours why did you think I would be willing to do it?” she asked as she felt herself get teary eyed.

Being treated differently even though she was in business was not something new to her. She was always treated differently because she was a woman. Somehow she wished there was a way around the current issue. She wished he had handled it better. She knew there was no better way to handle it but she wished there were.

“I think the best thing to do now is to take a break,” Jason said.

Out of everything she thought he would say this was not it. Did he want a break?

“It’s been barely a month” she whispered as she dropped her hand to her legs and her head too.

“We don’t even see eye to eye. Why not end it now?” he asked.

She stood up and looked at him. “Let’s split the bill then I’ll pay my part up front,” she said before she stormed out.

When Alicia stepped out of the restaurant she felt her chest constrict. She hated what she was feeling. She hated looking like a fool. She hated the glances of everyone who passed by. She wanted to cry but why would she do it on the road?

She blamed herself. Why did she for a split second think he was different? How did she go around deceiving herself? Her hope really did make fun of her, didn’t it? Since she came in his car she had to get a cab.

As she got into the car she called Leslie and Jessica. She needed comfort and they had to be the ones because they were the only ones she could count on.

“Hello Girl,” Leslie said.

Since it was a group call Jessica took note of the brightness that had made its way back to Leslie’s voice. She sighed of relief inward. She was glad that it seemed she was better. She would make sure to know what went on later but for now, she was glad she was okay.

“I need you guys,” Alicia said as her voice cracked from the other side.

“Alicia?” Jessica said jumping into full mother more.

“What happened?” Leslie followed.

“Jason just broke up with me,” she said.

She could no longer control herself as tears flowed down her cheeks. The relationship did not last one bit and she was left heartbroken. Was this not the reason she avoided relationships like this in the first place? ”

Jessica and Leslie calmly waited for her as she went into a full sobbing mood. She was pouring tears but she did not mind the weird stares of the driver. She did not care if he recognized her or not.

“Where are you?” Leslie asked.

“In a cab,” she said amidst her tears.

“Let’s meet at the Delgado mansion, I am on my way there too,” Leslie said before cutting the call.

“I’m still here, I will be on the call till you get here,” Jessica said assuring her.

Jessica did not know what to tell her or what to say. Alicia felt a bit relieved to hear that some people cared for her. She sighed and thanked Jessica.

“I will stop over to get ice cream,” she said with the tears still flowing.

“Are you going to go in public with your make-up probably all ruined and tears on your face?” Jessica asked.

Alicia sniffled as she thought about it. Was it not bad enough that the cab driver had seen her blast full tears? She was supposed to be that icon for strong young girls. But it seemed like men were always the problems that women had.

“I will go tell Roselle to get someone to get ice cream. Do you have a favorite flavor?”

“Everything” Alicia responded with a strained voice.

“Okay, let us hang up for now”

Jessica cut off the call. As much as she was worried for her friend she still somehow cared about whatever it might be that Jason would be facing. She needed to tell Xavier so he would comfort his friend.

Since he woke up on the bed she noticed he was nowhere in sight. She went down to ask Roselle to get ready for the ice cream and also know where Xavier had been all day.

“Roselle I need a favor please help”

“Yes, young lady whatever it might be” Roselle answered waiting to be sent.

“I need ice cream in various flavors and if you could help clear out a room. The ladies are coming over” she explained.

“Consider it done. Would that be all?”

“Where is Xavier?”

“The young master has been in the study all day”
