Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Thirty Four

“Jessica I must say you make great meals,” Jason said as he leaned into his seat.

Jessica had outdone herself with the breakfast making a nice spread that was only seen in movies. The men Jason and Brian devoured the meal so quickly that there was barely anything left on the table.

“I feel so stuffed. Thank you” Brian said.

“I think I need to take Jessica with me back and allow her to teach my staff to make such lovely meals”

Xavier looked up and stared at Jason intently. What did he mean to take his wife somewhere?

“Calm down Mr. Delgado, I only said so because she is such a good cook” Jason commented in a sly voice.

“Jessica what I mean is that I am sure your restaurant will do very well,” he said facing Jessica. “You can trust me I am a business expert and I know when something will do well”

“Thank you all for the generous compliments” Jessica replied faking a bow which made everyone burst into small giggles.

Angel and another house staff began to clear the table as they sat. “Does anyone want coffee?” Xavier asked as he watched the girls do their thing clearing the table.

“I had one already,” Leslie said absentmindedly.

“Same here” Alicia adds.

“Same here,” Jessica said.

“So you ladies went ahead to have coffee without us?” Jason asked with a fake annoyance in his voice

“We woke up early and we needed it” Alicia replied.

“Get us coffee,” Xavier tells Angel as she comes around to get the last of the dishes.

“Since I have had coffee, I better check on Dawson to see why he did not come down for breakfast today,” Jessica said dusting her dress before standing up.

“Maybe you could take breakfast to him?” Xavier asked and she nodded.

“I will do so, I just need to know what he wants so I can make it for him,” she said before exiting the room.

She had the thoughts of Dawson falling seriously ill weighing on her mind. What if he was so sick and she was unaware because she was busy with every other thing except checking up on him?

She was the one who convinced him to leave the hospital and get a breath of fresh air but she could barely keep him in that breath of fresh air.

“Dawson?” she said quietly as she tapped on the door and pushed the doorknob open.

She entered to see him lying on the bed. He struggled a little to sit up when he heard her voice.

“Let me,” she said hurrying to help him sit up properly.

“What are you doing here?” he asked coughing a little.

When her hand touched the bare part of his skin she recoiled a little because of how hot he felt.

“You are having a fever, a high one at that. We need to get you to the hospital this instant” she said as she rushed back to the door.

“If you were sick you should have said so” she murmured as she walked away.

Jessica rushed downstairs to call Xavier who was now having a light conversation with Jason and Brian.

“Xavier,” she said trying to catch her breath.

Xavier stood up to face her. Was something wrong? Why was she panting so much? “What is it?” he asked holding her shoulders.

“It’s Dawson,” she said trying to steady her breathing. She could barely get another word when Xavier was flying out of the living room to the staircase.

“Wait,” she said as she hurriedly tried to catch up with his speed. As Xavier took two steps at a time over the stairs he prayed in his heart that nothing was wrong with Dawson. His heart sank in his chest. His gut feelings did not seem alright to him and he hated them.

He pushed open the door and saw Dawson sitting in the position that Jessica had left him. His face looked pale. From a distance, it was obvious that he was not fine.

“Papa” Xavier said cautiously as if he was trying his best not to scare him.

“Why are you so loud?” Dawson said almost lifeless. “Why did she call you here? With some rest and a little food, I’ll be back on my feet again”

Xavier knew what his grandfather was trying to do. He was trying to make light of the situation when it was obvious that he was not fine.

Xavier did not wait to hear anymore he had Doctor Ross on the other line ringing. Do they need to bring him in or was the doctor going to be coming home to take a look at him?

“Hello Mr. Delgado,” Ross said over the phone. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.

“My papa does not look so good, should we come over?” Xavier asked skipping the pleasantries.

“Bring him immediately. He could be having a fever due to the cancer. We need to keep him under observation” Ross explained.

Xavier’s mind stopped processing whatever the doctor was saying after the word immediately.

“What did the doctor say?” Jessica asked from behind him. This was what made Xavier aware of her presence. She spoke softly

“We need to take him in”

Dawson groaned as he watched them speak. “I’m okay, just ask them to prescribe something for me”

“Let the driver prepare one of the cars” Xavier said ignoring whatever his grandfather was saying.

He walked to him and put him in the wheelchair.
