Accidentally Married

It was three weeks after and not many events were happening. Xavier had asked Marcus to help in requesting the restraining. Emma was mad as hell when she received the letter in the mail. She hated how they had taken the law into their hands.

She now believed that Jessica and Xavier were now together. She was feeling down. She could not go back to Burke because she had no claim over him now that the baby was gone and she could end up paying a fine or serving time if she wanted close to either Jessica or Xavier. She hated her life.

Jessica on the other hand started to notice the subtle change in her eating habits. She began to feel nauseated by things she naturally liked before and she began to crave things she would not randomly just have.

At breakfast that morning as she put the spoon close to her mouth she could swear that the oats had a fishy smell. She dropped it back into the bowl in front of her and took a deep breath.

Her eating had been a mess these past few days because she could not have anything without feeling disgusted about it. She has not found anything to eat. She then began to think about what could be wrong. She thought back to the month and then it dawned on her that she had missed her period.

She had been too busy with Mali to notice such a big change in her body. Her brain gave her lots of reasons why she could have missed her period and had this unnecessary pickiness for food. The one that stood out the most to her was pregnancy.

“Hey, Roselle?” Jessica said as soon as she found her in the outdoor garden.

“Yes young lady”

“Can someone help me go out to get something from the store?” she asked and Roselle was glad to help. Jessica has barely asked the house staff for help in the past.

“Sure, I will have one of them go get it for you immediately”

“Do you think either you or Angel can go?” those were the people she trusted and she knew if it were any of the other staffs they would spread rumors around the house.

“I can go get it, what is it that you need?”

“A pregnancy test kit”

Roselle opened her mouth like a fish and then closed it up. “What?”

“It’s just a test kit so we know nothing for sure yet so just get the test ready”

It would make sense that she was pregnant after all she had had sex with Xavier and it was getting quite frequent between them. Xavier had left her at home earlier that morning because he had an urgent business to attend to.

She stood up leaving her barely eaten bowl of oats there. She knew she might throw up if she forced herself any further to eat it. She searched the house for Roselle. She needed to take the test and clear her doubts. She Did not know what to feel. She always wanted children but she had not spoken about it with Xavier before so she did not know how he would react to it.

Jessica was pacing around the room. She had called Xavier to know how long he would be out. She did not know how he was supposed to take the news that she was pregnant. She remembers all the times that Dawson brought up them having a baby and how he reacted. Even though he made a passing joke about them having a baby she did not know if he meant it or not.

“Where is Jessica?” Xavier asked when he stepped into the house.

He wrapped up what he was doing early and ran home. Jessica has never called him to pull him away from work so he needed to know why she seemed to be acting like that today. He had noticed how sensitive and touchy she had been the past few weeks after the vacation they took.

“In the master bedroom upstairs” Angel replied bowing down. He rushed up the stairs and opened the door he saw her pacing the whole floor of the room her face looking worried.

“Baby,” he said as he entered the room. He walked to her and took hold of her shoulders to stop the pacing. “How are you? I missed you so much today” he said pulling her Into a hug.

She hugged him back because she needed the comfort too. She had always wanted children and she was happy about it but it felt to her like she had committed a grave offense.

“I thought you had work to attend to?” she murmured into his chest.

“I did them so quickly and ran down to see you because I missed you and hearing your voice over the phone made me miss you more,” he told her and she sighed.

“Is something wrong?”

“Nothing is wrong but I have something to show you and to tell you,” she said pulling away.

He searched her face to try and decode what it was that could be bothering her. Her face was void of any expression as she diverted her eyes. “Wait here,” she said as she walked to the bathroom.

He sat on the bed waiting for a response from her. What could it be that she wanted to show him? She walked back later with a tray in hand and some sticks in them.

Quickly for her Roselle had picked up multiple sticks for the test and she had used them all but one. She gave up on using that one because all the results were the same no matter how many times she did the test. She tried the test again and again trying to see if any of them had a mistake and all came back positive. She knew she might have to get a doctor’s report to believe but she wanted to let him know first.

“What is that?” he asked when he saw the tray in her hand.

She walked to him without a word and stood before him. She gave him the tray and he stared at it like it was a foreign object. He did not know what it was and he had not seen such an item before.

“What is it?” he pressed again.

Why did she hand over the tray to him? What were the sticks? She took out the box of one of the sticks from the table and gave it to him. He dropped the tray to the bed beside him and then collected the box from her hand. He read through it and his eyes widened as he did so.

Jessica felt her heart jump in her chest. She could not tell what he was thinking and she wanted to know what it was he was thinking at that very moment.

He dropped the box after reading picked up two of the test sticks on the tray and watched it closely. He dropped it to the today and faced her. “Does this mean that you are pregnant?”

She nodded and he gasped dropping the test back to the tray. “We are going to have a baby?” he asked walking closer to her. She nodded again because she felt she might cry out loud if she heard her voice.
