Accidentally Married

Branch Fifty Two

Emma walked into the room. She had gone for a medical check-up. She was shocked that she had gotten pregnant within the space of a month. She had been using protection but it seemed ineffective.

“Burke, have you gotten the money for the venue?” Emma said putting her bag down on the bed.

Emma had told Burke that he had to marry her or she would get rid of the baby. Burke felt subjected to making Emma feel comfortable and good about herself. When they both learned of Jessica’s marriage to the billionaire Burke promised to work hard and give Emma her dream wedding.

Emma told Burke that there was no way that she would have a baby without getting married. He was to propose and then plan a wedding that would cost millions.

“Baby I told you that if we do not pay for the venue this week then we have to be put on a waitlist for two months,” Emma said going to hold his shoulders.

She had chosen the ballroom of the Braxton Hotel. The hotel was the best one and it belonged to the Delgado family.

“I told you that it has been my dream to have my wedding in their ballroom ever since I set my eyes on it” She added gently massaging his shoulders.

“I would get on it. I have not forgotten about it. I would get the money somehow and give you a dream wedding” he said grabbing her hands.

He stood up and turned to face her held her hand and led her to the bed.

“Rest now. Standing for too long might not be good for the baby” he said pulling out the blanket so she can lay down.

“I would go get you a glass of orange juice” he added walking away.

Where was he to see three million before the end of the week? He thought he would be able to coax the house out of Jessica and sell it. That would have been enough to get his feet running till he looked for other alternatives.

The land where Jessica’s house is located is a hot-selling place. Many investors are interested in being just a piece of land from it. Jessica pulled her money together and bought the house while the area was still deemed a desert.

Jessica’s husband had successfully ruined his plan and now he was confused about where to start. Was he to borrow money to make her dream come true?

“Baby?” Emma screamed from inside. “Aren’t you coming? Bring the juice please” she added from inside.

“I am coming darling,” Burke said pulling open the door and pouring some of the juice into the glass in his hand.

He enters the room and drops the glass on the bedside table.

“Let me give you a leg massage,” Burke said picking her leg up and sitting down. He dropped her legs on his and began to gently massage it.

“Oh Hello,” Genevieve said in a high-pitched voice as she enters the kitchen.

“I am so sorry. I tried to meet up to help you with dinner” she added when her eyes fell on the spread on the kitchen aisle.

“I’ll help you set the table,” she said moving to the drawer with the utensils and plate.

Jessica had her mind wandering around. Could it be that Burke was in dear need of money? Was that why he shamelessly called her to ask about the building? Was she selfish to not help him?

The thoughts ravaged her mind as she stood in the kitchen. Genevieve looked at her and noticed she was not in her right mind. She moved closer to her and stood in her front.

“Hellllooooo,” she said dragging out the word. That was the best way she knew to get her attention.

“Oh Hello, good evening,” Jessica said startled to see her standing in front of her. “When did you get here?” She added.

When she came back she had asked of her and discovered she wasn’t around and it was quite a shock that she came back. She was not expecting to see her tonight again.

“A penny for your thoughts?” Genevieve asked dropping the utensils in her hand to the aisle.

Jessica opened her mouth and closed it back. Was she to be telling this woman she had barely known for twenty-four hours everything about her life? Was she to tell her that she wanted to give money to the man who left her at the point when they were to tie the knot?

Genevieve blinked multiple times waiting for a response. She might have been a bad person and might not know how to comfort someone or give solid advice but at least she could listen. A problem shared is half solved, isn’t it?

“It’s nothing” Jessica finally said. “I am just tired from all I had to do today” she lied.

She was tired quite alright bit not up to the extent that she would become unaware of her surroundings. Jessica’s eyes went up to the clock on the wall. It was already a few minutes past seven and they should be getting ready to finish dinner by now.

“Help me set the table while I go get Dawson and Xavier,” Jessica said to Genevieve.

“Okay, I would” Genevieve replied mimicking a salute at her.

“I would help you out,” Angel said popping her head from the pantry behind them.

“Oh jolly,” Genevieve said. “Go on you can leave us to it” She added.

Jessica turned on her heels grateful that she had help. She climbed up the stairs and went to the room that she shared with Xavier. She pushed open the door only to find Xavier shirtless standing in the middle of the room with his phone in his ears

She stopped in her tracks as she watched his abs glisten with probably water from the shower. The abs fall and raise as he spoke. She cautioned herself for waking at him but could not take her eyes off him.
