“What what what?” Jessica said rushing back to stand by his side.

“Ethan just said he has to travel out of the city for an urgent meeting and would be back by the weekend meaning we can’t leave until he comes back,” Xavier said in a groan.

“So we are stuck here for a week?” Jessica asked as her mind began to comprehend what was going on.

For some reason, she had a feeling that everything was preplanned. The way Dawson had the sudden urge to visit Ethan and the way he acted at the airport.

Bringing them to this little vacation house that looked like a cottage instead of housing them in his mansion or a hotel. It was as if the house was small on purpose and the whole scenery too. Dawson was the one who put everything together.

A laugh escaped her lips and Xavier turned to face her. Was the current situation funny? Was it funny to her that he would need to leave his work for a while a week just to get a major investor to reinvest in their business?

“Oh don’t get me wrong,” Jessica said. Her laughing now was not a good sign and if she told him why he would think she was in on it.

“Did you just laugh?” he asked her with his eyebrow furrowing.

“Well, I just remembered something” she started and trailed off to a whisper “And I realize that I remembered it at the wrong time,” she said walking away.

Walking away would be the best option for her at the moment at least she would not say anything.

“Let me get started on breakfast,” she said as she walked away.

Xavier sighed in frustration. He quickly dialed Dawson’s number.

“Hello Papa”

“Hello Xavier, how is it going? How is Jessica? Hope she likes it there and I hope she is doing well?” Dawson asked all at once.

“One at a time,” Xavier said rolling his eyes.

“Okay, then How is Jessica, hope she is adapting to the conditions there?” Dawson asked.

“And here I thought that you would care for your grandson first,” Xavier said in a joking voice.

He knew that his grandfather had grown fond of Jessica unintentionally. He was not complaining and was glad that his grandfather found someone to share his day and thoughts with.

“You’ve been to Aurora Haven countless times but she has not been there can you put her on the phone?” Dawson asked.

“I have something important to discuss with you,” Xavier said.

“I will discuss that with you once I hear from Jessica. It would only take a minute” Dawson told him.

Dawson was really worried about Jessica and how she would be able to adapt to the change or environment. He was missing her too. He missed how she would help with the breakfast and how he did not eat dinner on time last night because everyone was used to her cooking now.

“Here” Xavier said extending the phone to Jessica as he stood in the kitchen. “Papa wants to talk to you”

“Oh Hello Dawson,” Jessica said cheerfully over the phone.

“Jessica how I miss you”

“And I miss you too,” Jessica said. She did miss him if she was being honest. His sarcastic comments and remarks flew all over the place.

“Is the phone on speaker?” he whispered like he was ready to reveal the world’s dangerous secret.

“No”

“Okay then, I know what Xavier called to complain about. Ethan is not around and you might have to stay there for a few more days” Dawson said.

Jessica found herself howling inside. She recalls Dawson telling her to go on honeymoon a while back. She did not know he would take the matters into his own hands.

“Do you have a special assignment for me?” she asked him with a smile on her face.

“Oh yes, I do. It is a honeymoon for you so utilize it very well and maybe you can bring home a great-grandchild for me” she added.

“And don’t you dare say you can’t do it” he added stopping her protest before she could get it on.

“I can’t do it” she said. She could not do it.

“Give the phone back to Xavier,” he said in a commanding tone.

“Here you go,” she said giving the phone back to Xavier. Xavier collected the phone while giving Jessica a strange look.

She shrugged and turned back to face her meal preparation. She felt her heart pound on her chest. Dawson tells her to seduce him makes her feel self-conscious and she is afraid that he will know what Dawson is planning and involve her without her consent.

“I know what you want to say because I got a call from Ethan this morning. It was a meeting he could not ignore so just stay back a few days” Dawson lied before Xavier could table the matter.

“It’s not a day or two but the whole week?” Xavier groaned in annoyance.

“It’s not that bad. You have your wife there maybe you two can bond and spend some time together” Dawson told him.

That was his goal. He was not expecting that the both of them would jump into bed at once. At least this opportunity would bring them closer and allow them to connect better.

“It’s a while week” Xavier emphasized again.

Maybe his grandfather did not understand what he meant earlier.

“I heard you and you repeating yourself does not change the situation. Just stay back the rest of the week and then come back once you have been able to meet with Ethan”

“Don’t come back without the investment and have fun” Dawson added his voice dangerously low. “Hang up” he added in a small shout.

His part of the plan had been done, now he would only hope and wait that the both of them don’t throw away the opportunity he worked so hard to create.

“Do you want to do something later together?” Xavier asked.

In shock, Jessica turned around and nodded gleefully. Well maybe Dawson was right after all.
