Accidentally Married

Branch Eighty Five

Xavier pulled from Jessica and moved to the bathroom. Jessica stood there feeling her legs grow weak she barely made it back to the couch.

What was that interaction now? And why did it happen? She was so sure he was going to kiss her considering the lowness and deepness of his stare. His voice went down several octaves she was sure he could not go any further.

“Why did you do that just now?” Xavier murmured to himself as he stood watching his reflection in the mirror.

A smile unknowingly crept up his face. He entered the shower and had a long cooling one. He felt his muscles relax and he felt better than before. He came out of the bathroom to meet Jessica busy in the kitchen.

He stood at her doorframe and began to watch her as she went back and forth to the kitchen. Why was she so good at what she did and why did she look good while doing it?

She turned back to pick something at the kitchen island and was startled to see him starting directly at her. She raised an eyebrow at him and he shrugged.

Why was she even shocked? It seemed like her theory of different and strange places for them to be together a different and strange emotions for them both.

“Let’s have dinner” she called after him as she carried a pot to the couch area.

“What are you doing?” he asked shocked to see he holding a pot.

“Help me put the rivet on the table,” she said ignoring his question. He rushed to the table and stood in shock not knowing what a rivet was.

“You don’t know a rivet do you?” she asked almost bursting into uncontrollable laughter. “Here hold this,” she said transferring the pot to his hand with the cloth she used to hold it.

She pulled out the rivet from the table corner and placed it on the table. She gestured for him to put down the pot on it which he did.

“I made a one pot stir fried rice. I hope you will like it. I just decided to make this because it’s late and I am tired” she explained.

“I’m sure you did a fine job with the food,” he said sitting down.

She watched him and she was tempted to once again compare their temperatures. He was acting strange and it was getting to her. He gestured for her to sit down which she did.

“Let’s have a taste,” he said picking one of the spoons in the pot and taking a spoonful to his mouth.

“Hmm delicious” he exclaimed as he took another bite. “How are you so good at cooking?” he asked with his mouth full.

“It’s my job” she answered with a smile.

She was glad it was to his liking and taste. She was worried that his sophisticated taste would not like it.

“I can foresee that your business would do very well,” he told her and she blushed a little.

They had the meal and when they came to the bottom of the pot Jessica stood up with the pot in her hand.

“You can get ready for bed while I do the dishes,” she said walking to the kitchenette.

“Wait,” he said almost in a shout. Startled she turned around to face him. “I’ll do the dishes,” he said walking up to her and snatching the pot from her hand.

“Wait I can’t let you do that,” she said standing in his way.

“Why? Because you think I can’t do it?” he asked his eyes twinkling.

“Have you ever done the dishes before?” she asked him.

“No I have not but it shouldn’t be that hard now should it?” he asked walking to the sink.

“Doing the dishes is a part of the meal preparation” she told him following behind.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Why don’t you just rest and I do the dishes? Isn’t it just this one pot?” he asked holding her hand and walking her back to the room. “Stay put” he added walking back.

Jessica stood and watched him work. It was a rare situation as she had never seen him do anything of such before. It was really a sight to behold

“Errm Jessica can you come?” he called out and she snapped out of her fantasy about him.

Jessica rushed to him and stood struck in awe as she looked at the lathered full sink. There was no sink anywhere and the sink was buried beneath so much soap.

Her hand darted to the tap and switched it off. She sighed but she was assumed. When she had teased him about not knowing how to do the dishes she was still sure he would do a good job but it seemed like some people lived in the world who could not do dishes for themselves.

“Step aside,” she said the amusement not lost in her voice. Xavier took a step backward and stood behind her like a child waiting to be scolded.

“I thought you were sure you could do a good job?” she asked putting her hand in to find the drain plug.

“I think I poured in more dish liquid than I needed” he responded ashamed. He was a perfect man how was it that he made such a mistake?

“I wonder what those young girls who have crushes on you would say when they see you can’t do the dishes” she exclaimed with a laugh almost escaping her lips.

“Are you reading my mind?” he asked her shocked that he was also thinking the same thing.

“Please do not offer to do the dishes again,” she said and he nodded behind her.

It would be better if she did it since she knew how well to do it. Soon enough the lather was all down and she was able to finish up the cleaning.

“Thank you” Xavier murmured silently as she dried the napkin over the rack set out there.

“My pleasure,” Jessica said mockingly.

They both stood in front of the bed and then suddenly looked at each other.

“I’ll take the couch”
